The staff are always friendly and attentive to the residents and visitors. Despite being hectic and busy at the time of my visit the staff were no less helpful and responsive to questions. I have also noted that the activities provided at the facility are of good quality and constant which is a great change of pace from what I have experienced in other facilities. Thank you for all that you do for the residents and families, your efforts and care do not go unnoticed.

Staff is wonderful--very friendly, helpful, and engaging. Lots of interesting activities are offered for residents to participate in, too.

The Assisted living portion of the facility is not bad. If I were just rating the assisted living portion of the facility I would probably give it 4.5 or 5 stars. If your relative has any memory issues keep a VERY close eye on this facility. My mom was 93 and here for a little over a year before she died in the facility. She had severe dementia and was very head strong. She could no longer walk and was on pureed food. Hospice incorrectly prescribed time released Xanax and the med techs were crushing them. She slept for over 24 hours and when she regained consciousness, she did not want to eat or drink. She died 11 days later. I had been going in to the facility three times per day for 1 to 2 hours each time because I wanted to make sure she was properly cared for. There were times she would not be hungry when meals were served, but if you offered the food 10 minutes later she was hungry. Most of the staff are very caring attentive people, but they have a few who don't seem to care at all. As of last November, the staff was overworked. When you have that many needy people, it takes a small army to properly care for them physically and emotionally. Many of them are in diapers and have physical impairments. If you have a loved one that you cant take care of at home any longer, PLEASE plan on frequent visits. Drop in at 5 or 6 am and check if they are clean, sleeping soundly, listen to see if you hear anyone else calling for help and what the response time is. When you take a tour, if the staff dismiss some of the residents as "always complaining" or "they can do that for themselves" or "she/he's Ok, they just ask for...all the time". Let them know that you expect your relative to be responded to regardless of the frequency of their requests. Many of these people are like toddlers. Would you leave a toddler laying in the bed crying or asking for help. This is a very demanding job and it requires a real love of people. I understand that it is also a business, but management should not foster a culture of apathy. Every resident should be seen as having been someone's baby. There was a day that a mother held them lovingly in her arms and loved them with every fiber of her body. I have heard that this facility is the lesser of the evils, but please keep your eyes on them. Don't assume that the job is being taken care of. You will still have to be VERY involved.

If you need a second home for your loved one, you will love Tina Clark and the staff at Common Wealth in Radford. My husband is there now and he thinks that is his home. I brought him home once and had to take him back. They met him at the car and he went right on with them. They keep you informed and you can visit them any time. I highly recommend Common Wealth of Radford

Twice recently the latest Nov. 1 at around noon I have found my wife Georgia Wallace still in bed. She resists being pull up by her arms. I showed the aids my way of putting her feet over on the floor and having sit on the edge of bed. I doubt she had lunch. Missing clothing is a problem especially a new pair of red and white plaid shoes and a heavy weight purple hoodie. It seems her supply of depends has dimished significantly and I remind the aids that I am supplying them only for my wife. It appears that the aids are often very young. Do you have a high turnover?

The staff at Commonwealth Assisted Living is awesome, they're knowledgeable and caring! They really do put their residents first! The atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door makes you feel at home! The rooms are cleaned daily, laundry done, great meals served 3 times a day, daily activities...what more could you want! So if you're looking for an assisted living facility for yourself or a loved one, then this is the place for you!

I enjoyed working as a CNA at Commonweath Assisted Living in Radford Va. It was very convenient and close to where i lived i loved to care for each and every one of my patients, Very clean environment, pleasent & management was great and my co-workers awesome and if id ever move back to the Radford Va area this would be my first place id go for re hire employment in hopes they'd hire me back 🙂 Enjoyed being a team worker and a part of Commonweath Assisted Living that'd what's is all about!
