My mother is currently a resident in the Sweet Memories Community at the Devonshire, and we could not be happier with the experience. The facility is exceptionally clean and beautiful decorated, and the staff is remarkably caring and attentive. If you haven’t had a chance to attend one of their family nights yet, I really recommend it. Chris and her team put on a great night and it’s clear how excited they are to see their residents enjoying themselves with their families. I loved seeing Amanda and Sandy singing karaoke and it shows that all of their employees are excited to join in and support their residents. When it comes time to chose a home for myself, I know I’ll be looking at the Devonshire.

Our family had a wonderful experience with Commonwealth Senior Living while my brother was a resident this spring. He was with them for a few months while we were working on moving him out of state to be closer to family. From our initial meeting with CeeJay to our final goodbye with Ms Pearl, the entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The facility just went through a major renovation with modern appointed units and beautiful comfortable public spaces. Big shout out to Paula, CeeJay, Amanda, Felina and Ms Pearl for going above and beyond and keeping open communication when I was not able to be in town. I can't thank you all enough for your kindness.

My mom recently moved into the Sweet Memories unit. Like any move to a new place we are still working out a few bumps but the Administrator and her staff have been very attentive and responsive to my concerns and requests. The staff that cares for my mom have been caring, compasionate and respectful. Shoutout to Chris, Fredrina, Erica and Jennifer who ease my mind because I know she is being well cared for.

My brother and I toured the facility to see if it would be a fit for our mother. We absolutely loved it and know it will be the perfect place for her when the time is right for our mom. We want to commend Ceejay Gutierrez, the Sales Director, for coming in on a weekend to give us the tour. She took her time with us and answered all of our questions. Ceejay is truly a jewel and we thank her so much for all of her help. She even answered additional questions later in the weekend and it was all appreciated. Kudos to Ceejay!

My experience with Commonwealth at Devonshire really has been nothing but positive. The staff is compassionate, attentive, and truly treats residents like family. Especially Ceejay, who graciously gave a very informative tour to me and explained every way they assist their residents on a daily basis. Communication has been excellent, and it’s clear that the team genuinely cares about each person’s comfort, dignity, and well-being. The environment is clean, welcoming, and supportive. I recently attended multiple events at the facility, and it was the first time where the entire admin staff came to support. That is pretty rare! Very grateful for the care provided to the community and highly recommend this community to anyone seeking quality assisted living and memory care.

I’ve been to so many places looking for a home for my Aunt. And I can say all of them seemed to be friendly. However some I wouldn’t leave my mother let alone my favorite aunt. Then I found Commonwealth with the help from Oasis group which was absolutely fantastic to work with. Then we met CeeJay at the commonwealth. I’d tell you the other ladies names but I can’t remember. I think it was Amanda that made everything so easy also. Gave my mom and I a tour of where my aunt would live in Independent living. Her apartment is so big compared to others I toured. It’s as big as my mom’s old apartment. Now they are remodeling so everything was so clean and of course I had to chat with other residents and they gave great reviews also. My heart is the happiest it’s been for a few years In Regards to my favorite Aunt. I wish I could have her with me but I can’t. Please if you are looking try the commonwealth in Hampton. I’ll come back in a month and update on how it’s going at the commonwealth

My mother with Alzheimer's lived quite happily at Devonshire in independent living since late 2021. I always appreciated how the CSL staff was familiar with every resident and their family members, calling them by name and keeping me informed about my mother condition, activities, and yes, shenanigans. Recently her condition took a sudden and drastic decline. CSL staff recognizing the changes in her abilities and behaviors notified me that she could no longer live independently safely. That proved true beyond what my family and I expected when I brought her home with me while I figured out a plan. CSL was invaluable in helping me facilitate the transition to memory care my mother needed while offering me the support and advocacy I needed to do so, even preparing her meals for me to pick up, chasing down physician assessments to determine the level of care she needed, emptying the trash from the inside dumpsters as we filled them cleaning out her independent living apartment, and just asking me how I was doing and how they could help with each of our many encounters during this time. Now that she's in Sweet Memories, I even get weekly notifications of the daily activities in which she participates and am able to send and receive messages through the portal. I can't imagine a better place for my mother and would recommend CSL Devonshire to anyone seeking a senior living environment. Thank you all! ‘CSL-D is the place to be!‘

Commonwealth Devonshire is a beautiful community with incredibly spacious rooms and common areas. The updates throughout the building are stunning, and the colors, natural sunlight, furniture, and lighting make the entire space feel warm, bright, and welcoming. The apartments are huge and include great amenities, with so many thoughtful little details designed to make residents feel comfortable and at home. CeeJay gave a tour to my clients and was patient, kind, and truly listened to what they were looking for. I would like to recognize Sales Director CeeJay Gutierrez. My mother and I stopped by the Devonshire one afternoon unannounced. When we came in within minutes Ms Gutierrez addressed us, and asked how she could assist us. I told her we just stopped by to check the place out, because I was interested in moving my mom in a nice facility. Ms Gutierrez stopped what she was doing and gave us her undivided attention, and information about the Devonshire. Ms Gutierrez was Professional, Polite, Patient, and Proficient! I was asking her pertinent questions about the facility and what it offered, Ms Gutierrez had all the answers, and a demeanor that was confident and caring! She showed us around the facility in a very thorough manner, was very informative about the facility and especially concerning the capacity of the needs pertinent to my mother. When my mother and I left, we saw everything that I needed to see, and all my concerns about my mother's stay there were clear. For example, pricing, medical attention, leisure activities, food, house keeping, etc. Ms Gutierrez left no stone unturned, and what impressed me the most was how the residents were so happy to see her moving throughout the facility. They all wanted to speak with her and laugh and joke with her. Even when we were in her office, many came by to say hi, steal her treats, and just chat with her. That spoke volumes about her Character and Personality. Of course it took weeks to move through the process of paperwork, and Ms. Gutierrez even went by my mother's Primary Care Physician to expedite finalizing the paperwork. Even before this process, Ms Gutierrez continued to reach out to me to secure us as residents. Any reservation I had was put to rest through her follow up and profi iency. In closing, Ms. Gutierrez kept her word on all the things we spoke about prior to making the decision to come to Devonshire. She was the deciding factor in choosing Devonshire.

CSL at Devonshire provides me peace of mind when not with my mom. She means the world to us and knowing there are others providing a place shes receiving kindness and care is necessary and appreciated. CeeJay, the Business Director for at Devonshire provided a visit with my mom as well as us while looking for assistive living care. She met my anxiety with calmness, reassurance and continual time for addressing anything on my mind about my mom. Her ability to reassure the quality of care helped us in making here her safe new residence, a hopeful new home. CeeJay, gave us reassurance when making the decision to try Devonshire. The Assistive Living Director, Felina, is just as dedicated to the residents. She works to ensure respect and patience is received to all residents. Both are individuals I trust with my mom’s care. Right now I am glad of the decision to have Devonshire as the best place for my mom.

Our experience has been awesome with transitioning my uncle to a retirement home with Commonwealth Senior Living. Ceejay Gutierrez does an incredible job showing the property and engaging with all of the people she comes in contact with during her day. The Devonshire became my mother’s home in 2022. We have always found the staff to be very friendly, always greeting her by name which means a lot when you have been relocated. The only issue we ever had was when the elevator was down, the stairwell the residents had access to was very poorly lit and it took over 3 weeks of complaining to get the lighting fixed. Other than that any issues were dealt with efficiently. My mother made a lot of friends here, residents and staff alike.

My Dad, Charles Shinn, has been a resident in Assisted Living at The Devonshire since January of 2023. I am thrilled with the care, attention and love shown to him by the entire staff of AL. Adrianna and her staff are just beyond amazing! They go above and beyond for the residents of the Community and always greet me just like I’m family. Dad lived with me for eleven years before I made the choice to move him to an AL community. I visited thirteen communities from Williamsburg to Hampton. I am a native Hamptonian and taught in the Hampton City School System for 35 years and am the organist/choir director at First United Methodist Church, Hampton for thirty three years. We have deep roots in Hampton! Dad lived in Independent Living at The Devonshire in 2010-2012 so of course The Devonshire was the choice! Again, I cannot say enough positive comments about Adrianna, her staff and all the staff of the community. I love them as family! Keep up the amazing work, Adrianna and staff!

I was recently tasked with finding an assisted living facility for my uncle and the task was daunting. When I walked into Devonshire I was greeted by the kindest staff who went to work right away to coordinate his transition from hospital to their facility. I’m so grateful to Fazai and Trey for their assistance. They followed up with me throughout the week and truly care.

Pricing for their units is vague bordering on misleading; for instance assisted living units are priced higher than independent living units, but the price doesn't include assistance of any kind - that's priced in addition to the space. And there are move-into costs not mentioned anywhere on their website.

We toured earlier this year and the sales person, Travius, gave us a tour of the Assisted living. The place was clean, and residents were happy. The community is very diverse. We thought the community would be a great fit for our grandpa, but we decided to move him to Georgia for the time being to be close to family. But Travius was amazing and so was the assisted living community.

The management is extremely responsive whenever there are any issues that arise, and the food is better than most restaurants I have been too! They make a lot of promises and don't follow through. Put a camera in your loved one's room . They do a great job with the independent living, horrible with the assisted living, Never have enough staff , most staff are very friendly and overworked. The staff does not follow up on the workers responsibilities to make sure they are doing their jobs of cleaning the rooms or bathing the resident. Yes it is decorated nicely, but the care of the assisted living residents leaves a lot to be desired. Many of times the oxygen tank was empty and not all of the staff know how to change out (really) !! Food would be delivered to their room and if they were asleep they didnt wake them up and they would come back pick up meal . I bought a 800.00 recliner for my loved ones room and they wouldnt put a pad on it so she peed in it and ruined it. They were slack on changing her . She got the best care when hospice came in. Put a camera in their room. !!!! they talk a good game

It was a wonderful place for me with so many unique people. New management doesn’t understand the importance of getting input from Residents before making changes. Quality of food has really deteriorated in recent years. The people are still all wonderful but it’s a different place now.

Newly renovated and it is beautiful! I hear so many good things from resident's about the community. Recently a Mardi Gras murder mystery was put on by management and the entire dining room was laughing and had so much fun participating in the suspense of "who did it?" What a great facility!

This community is definitely wonderful. The residents love where they live and you can tell when you walk in and are greeted by those socializing in the lobby. Because this is a smaller community there is a feel of family and everyone knows everyone. The staff is engaging and there is plenty for the residents to do throughout the day. The prices are just right and with meals and biweekly housekeeping included it can't be beat. I highly recommend the Devonshire.

My Mother moved in yesterday and has been super excited to start her new life at The Devonshire. I moved her there from another AL facility in Newport News that started off great the first few months, but left us paying $1000 more a month within a year of residency due to their unfortunate citation system -- who wants to be written up for leaving a towel on the bathroom floor or for declining a bath (she was scheduled for 3 a week)? Worrying about "points" caused my Mother too much anxiety so it was a relief to discover that The Devonshire does not use this type of system. Yesterday the staff was extremely welcoming, helped with easy access to her room during move-in, and asked very thoughtful questions regarding her care and personal preferences. Cara (Sales Director) was a major factor in my decision to move Mom to The Devonshire. She genuinely cares about the residents and handled our unique application process beautifully as I live out of the country. Michelle (Nursing Director) approached my Mom with a beautiful sense of encouragement and Cheryl (Housekeeping) was so, so helpful and always smiling every time we had a question. My Mom and I are looking forward to getting to know the other staff members better and we both feel like this move was a great decision!
