On Sunday, July 5, 2026 my MOM unexpectedly lost her beloved 6-year-old beagle, Harley. Harley was more than a pet “fur baby” My sister, who died by suicide on Friday, June 28, 2024, gave her to my MOM as a Mother’s Day gift just weeks before her passing, making this loss especially heartbreaking. I approached Jani and Lamar. As the on-site traveling team, they responded immediately, consulting with local leadership (Amber and Sean) to determine the best plan of action. Their next steps of compassion, professionalism, and genuine care made an incredibly difficult evening a little easier. The outpouring of condolences, love, and affection from residents and staff has brought our family tremendous comfort during this difficult time. MOM and I are deeply grateful for everyone’s kindness, empathy, and exceptional support. It will never be forgotten.

Capitol Ridge is truly a special place. The managers are absolutely amazing and go above and beyond to make sure residents, staff, and guests feel happy, comfortable, and cared for. Their dedication and leadership create such a positive atmosphere throughout the entire community. All the staff is incredibly kind, caring, and hardworking. Everyone works together as a team, and you can genuinely feel the sense of family the moment you walk through the doors. There are always smiling faces, amazing food, warm hearts, and a welcoming environment that makes Capitol Ridge feel like a second home. I have lived here for about a year. Overall the experience has been positive. With that said, the food has become progressively worse. The “executive chef” has no clue. The menu aside, the quality of the food is consistently substandard. Meals are routinely served lukewarm or cold. Should be an easy fix, but apparently not. French fries as an example are normally cold and soggy. Despite numerous complaints and discussions, no change. Even discussed with your regional chef, that was a waste of energy.

We are so pleased mom has found a beautiful apartment where she can maintain independent lifestyle within a safe community here at Capital Ridge. We owe our thanks to Scott and Lisa Lang who are managers of this fine establishment. Scott and Lisa are very engaged with tenants, workers, guests as well as going above and beyond bringing tangible awareness of Capital Ridge to neighbors, businesses and organizations in the community. It is so clear to us each time we visit mom is happy and thriving in a safe, beautifully well kept and maintained apartment/community. We truly believe the highly positive resident interaction that takes place here at Capital Ridge during meal time, activities (tailored by the residents in cooperation with a highly responsive activities coordinator), neighborly care and concern, reflect the positive caring professional leadership of Scott and Lisa. We can see Scott and Lisa in action in so many ways: serving the residence at meal time, making upbeat fun announcements, playing the piano, singing with residents, having an open door policy for residents, encouraging great patience, and professionalism with residents, guests and workers, having a balance of care and concern with professionalism, maintaining respect & independence for residents also seasonally decorating and bringing beauty and joy creating a feeling of warmth and home, and most importantly Lisa and Scott achieve something that is truly beautiful: they create an environment where people can break out of isolation into community involvement at a level each resident desires.

Since moving to Capital Ridge in September 2022, my mother has felt at home, thanks to the warm, inviting atmosphere that Lisa works so hard to maintain. Every season and holiday is thoughtfully celebrated, bringing joy and a sense of community to the residents. Scott and Lisa go above and beyond to provide attentive, personalized care. Scott has assisted my mother with tasks like adjusting her blinds and placing boxes on her bedroom shelf, while Lisa has been a constant source of support, whether troubleshooting my mother’s cell phone when she’s confused or reaching out to me with genuine concern when my mother isn't feeling well. Scott also oversees the dining room, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently. Lisa was a wonderful host today. My mother in law is considering living at Capital Ridge Gracious Living in the near future. A total of 6 family members went with our Mom today and we were very impressed with the staff and the residents. It is a beautiful community and in such a great location. I recently visited Capitol Ridge for Thanksgiving. I thought the property was clean & safe, atmosphere pleasant, and meals tasteful. Many events were available for the residents. The community hosted a special Thanksgiving meal for visiting relatives for a good price. The management & staff were friendly & attentive.

My dad is very happy here. They serve 3 meals a day, transport residents to Dr appts, and have lots of activities to keep them active. It is expensive, but everything in northern VA is.

My dad lives here with his spouse. They are very happy. There are lots of activities everyday and the meals are delicious 90% of the time. If you don't like what they made there are additional options like salads and sandwiches. There is a bus to take them to appointments and on outings. The staff is all super friendly. Wish it wasn't quite so expensive though.

We moved my Dad into Capital Ridge in July. He moved from an assisted living nearby. Everything about Capital Ridge is better! It is so friendly, the people living there all care about one another. The feel is not of a home for the aged, but a fun, happy place to live and enjoy! The prices are very far below what most places are nearby, and it is beautiful! Open and airy with many outdoor areas to enjoy. My dad needs a little help, and gets it from a home health care that has an office inside the building. Do not hesitate to take a look there, we are so happy we did!

My father has early stages of Alzheimers, and some people have suggested that Capitol Ridge is the wrong place for him, because he needs EXTRA care and monitoring. I have spoken to several of the personnel there, and they have all been wonderful, indicating that Dad asks some questions over and again, but is pleasant and they don't mind helping him. They have gone above and beyond the expectations of an independent living home. Everyone at Capitol Ridge has been helpful to me also, no matter how many times I call to ask questions to help my dad out. He's only been there about 2 months, and already they know who he is, and call him by name. I've been very pleased with our experience so far!
