Leewood has caring and trusted staff, the rooms have big windows and are spacious. Anton Libut, the business office manager, has helped us navigate the Medicaid and insurance issues. He is very knowledgeable.. My 100 year old Aunt is always clean, dressed and doing activities. She is very happy !

My sister is there, and I'm worried because the service isn't very good. The place is so beautiful, but the staff arrives very late for lunch and dinner, and the nurses and other staff need to be better trained because they answer you very rudely and disgustingly.

I really enjoy this facility. It is very clean. They have a great rehab team and also the team in the dialysis den is very friendly and helpful. The staff is sweet, compassionate, and attentive. This facility is one of the best. I would consider this my home away from home.

This facility at Leewood was very nice. Liliana and Nathaly were very nice and welcoming me back three times. The food was good but the portions could have been more. Overall pretty good facility.

Everyone was very nice! Nathaly and Liliana were very welcoming and answered all my questions. Business office, therapy and the Administrator are extremely knowledgeable. The nursing staff here were amazing. They were kind, attentive, and made me feel comfortable the entire time. I really appreciated how they explained everything clearly and treated me with respect. This is a wonderful facility where the nursing team is comfortable proving excellent, even quite involved long-term care to your loved ones. My lovely mom has quite significant health needs, even as she remains sweet, bright of mind and aware of her environment. This is a blessing but also a challenge when her care at other facilities has been subpar and she was all too aware of it. At August the team is well-trained, comfortable and even kind when providing significant elderly care. We went through a VA Medicaid application process to meet the cost of long-term care. This is a difficult, prolonged process with the state, but Anton and the medical team at August were helpful, quickly responsive and helped us get approved. Now my mom has a long-term residence to call home. Thank you to everyone who puts their hearts into the care of our family members at August at Leewood. Truly nurses like Phetsamone, David who always has a warm welcome, and many others are angels on earth!

I’m not really fund of seeing the elderly without their independence or questionable well care. However, was happily surprised and pleased with the support staff/well care being provided at Leewood. My friend seemed to be pleased with the attention and genuine hospitality being extended to him. Finally the cleanliness was evident. I got there at the time of staff change. The transitioning appears to be going well. ™

Everyone on staff was very welcoming and kind. All of the residents I got to see appeared to be well looked after. My Gramma is very happy there with many friends. They keep it very warm inside. It was good to see older residents comfortable with the temperature. You may want to wear light clothes for your own comfort.

So I called to see if they would welcome trick or treaters. I also called to ask if I can volunteer and play games. My GMA isn’t at this nursing home but I use to go and play games with everyone to keep them company. I didn’t hear back from anyone. So I’m just a little confused why I haven’t heard back about volunteering or hanging out to keep some of the people there company who don’t have visitors. Like I said I don’t have family at this location but it makes me wonder then how they treat/care for the people living there.

My loved one stayed at August Healthcare Leewood for having therapy services. Facility is very cleaned and over all staff is responsive. But our family truly benefited from having Dr. Tahir Majeed as the administrator. Dr Majeed is genuinely responsive to both residents and their families. Dr. Majeed consistently listens to concerns, addresses requests promptly, and ensures that every need is met with care and professionalism. His hands-on approach and dedication to improving communication and service quality have made a noticeable difference in the overall atmosphere of the nursing home. It’s reassuring to know that residents and their loved ones have an administrator who is approachable, compassionate, and truly committed to their well-being.

My wife has been here since May 14. First, they closed and healed a very bad toe and foot infection with daily care, something you don't get at a lot of memory care facilities. The nursing staff here is professional and caring. The nurses and management listen to my questions and respond quickly. The rooms are cleaned daily, and they help her with showers, some activities, and provide three meals a day. Here's a picture of her room.

My mom was at Leewood for about 9 months while we fought to get her physical therapy on a regular basis in order for her to come home. Most places (and I have experience with many) would just do the minimum for their patients/residents, partially due to short staff, but also due to staff just not caring. We were so lucky and blessed to have several staff members on our team at Leewood. Namely, Chris in PT. He was phenomenal in getting mom the PT she needed and helped us prepare her home when she was discharged. We had many issues that needed to be addressed and had the pleasure of working with Rose Cuenco, the Dir of Social Services. Rose treats the residents and their families as if they are her own - we need more people like this. The anguish a family goes through when a loved one is admitted to any facility, so having Rose as an advocate was invaluable. Along with Rose, were 2 nurse techs that will forever be remembered, and loved, that took such good care of my mom and they are Almaz Atsku & Sally. They truly care about the residents and give them the absolute best care. They treat everyone the same, and my mom formed such a close bond with them. It gave me and my family great comfort knowing she was getting the care she deserved from Almaz & Sally, and when I had an issue, whether it was part of Rose's department or not, she was right there to lend a hand. There are many things that need improvement, as do all of these facilities, but I can tell you that these 4 angels were instrumental in bringing my mom home. Chris has moved on to other opportunities, but we stay in touch with our bonus family at Leewood and will be forever grateful for the loving care mom and our family received from Almaz, Sally & Rose. I hope the administrator and owner knows they are valuable assets of Leewood and treats them as such. They are rare gems in today's world.

I visit Leewood every 2nd. Sunday with my Church, Bishop Thomas we sing songs and Bishop Thomas reads the Bible verses to them and they enjoy it a lot ( God Bless)

First: kudos to the PA who aggressively pursued my mother’s breathing, ordered an x-ray which revealed an initial stage of pneumonia, thereby enabling an early antibiotic treatment. Second, kudos to the Cardinal staff who have been treating her and monitoring her eating habits and general health. I’m grateful for the effort and dedication they exhibit, especially given the weather conditions.

We have nothing but great things to say... Especially at the Dogwood unit- Nurse Pauline Minang and CNA Mary Sankoh are exceptionally outstanding and we place our trust in them with our whole heart. They are hardworking, compassionate and work with integrity. They take care of my brother as if he's one of their own family. The attentiveness and diligence in this team is amazing and we are so grateful for them. The recent renovations have made this place look bright and pleasant. Thank you to everyone who put their heart and soul into their job. They are truly angels!

Do not leave your loved one here if they require any nursing care or personal care without a paid full-time caregiver. My senior husband was there for one week to rehab after brain surgery. Thankfully we were able to have someone with him 24 hours a day. One day, I arrived at 1pm, our caregiver alerted me that morning meds were not given until after noon, even tho she had reminded them more than three times that he had not received his meds yet. This same day, the caregiver told me that the attendant came in to change his sheets and didn't return for more than 20 minutes "because she forgot she wasn't finished". On a daily basis, I had to remind the evening nurse that he needed his night meds (which included zyprexa and melatonin) by 7pm as prescribed, instead of 10pm when administered to other inpatients. When asking for an attendant to help him to restroom or help with his other personal care, it would regularly take 10-15 minutes before getting help. On the last day at August Leewood, I came into his room at 7am to find him practically comatose and lethargic. I asked our night caregiver about his night. She said he was restless and agitated all night and that the staff nurse had taken his vitals during the night and his oxygen was 70!!!! The nurse told our caregiver to turn up the heat and he would be fine (it was 80 degrees in the morning). I immediately went to the head nurse and wanted his oxygen checked again. Again, it was extremely low and the nurse attempted give him oxygen but somehow he blew water thru the hose vents and into his lungs, instead of oxygen!! An ambulance was called, and he was taken to the hospital where he subsequently died. It is common knowledge that oxygen below 90 is dangerous and the patient should be taken to the hospital immediately. But, IF the nurse alerted the facility of his oxygen level during the night, no action was ever taken by Leewood. I was never contacted and 911 never called. With the exclusion of one nurse, one aid & the rehab staff, the facility is staffed with incompetent, complacent, unskilled personnel with a lack of compassion bordering on rude. Patients who are self-sufficient, mobile and only need rehabilitation would find August at Leewood an acceptable option for care!!!
