I lived in Manchester Lakes from 03/2022-09/2023. The price isn't bad. But you get what you pay for. Nothing ever broke in my apartment. The fire alarm randomly goes off sometimes. They have roaches but my unit didn't have problems because I kept my space clean. THEY DO HAVE BEDBUGS!!! They will treat your unit if you complain. But they come back because they only treat those who complain. My neighbor was elderly and I'm sure never complained so bedbugs kept coming back over and over again. It got to the point where I would see them in the middle of the day. Definitely an infestation. I was in building 1 one the first floor. I know one of the upper floors had a roach infestation. Leasing office staff comes off as sweet but were very condescending. While I was living there, they went through at least 4 property managers. So they may have another person.

This place is for 55 and older and they do take a small percentage of people under the age of 55 and very affordable with everything included but the electric. Cecelia really tried to help people as much as she can. She really helped my family member who needed a place bad. You can not make everyone happy in the world but at least she tries her best.

Wow, I became widowed in2010, I had health from problems and in 2012 my family moved me from Milwaukee, WI back to to Northern VA to be nearer them. They found an apartment for me an Manchester Lakes. My sister met with manager and after being shown what was available she picked one, she knew my tastes and feelings and did a great job. She even assessed the apartment and knew what furniture of mine that would fit and what wouldn't. She also assessed the kitchen and determined, knowing my ablities of coooking for myself, knew what I could bring for the kitchen etx. Initially, this was in March 2012, they moved me from Milwaukee and helped get me settled in an apartment. At that point, March 2012, 'the lake' was a great place. She did a great job of finding an apartment near famly and knew what I would like and not like and also knew we had to find a place that accepted pets, at the time I had a little female Brussels Griffon, I little sweetie, she sws very friendly and usually liked everyone we encountered. I the yeas that I lived there, 2012 until 2019, she only ever growled at three people, and I determined within a few hours, I didn't like them either. (I normally like someone initially and then they give me reasons not to) When I moved in in March of 2012 the management, both manager and his assistant manager were top notchefficient, knowledgeable, and also very professional. At that time there was one lady that maintained the common area housekeeping, hallways, kept floors vacuumed, etc, there was a small kitchen and dinning room on the first floor near the main entry, lobby and offices. The ladies that operated the small building's store, handled basic needs, mostly dry goods, paper products, a few sodas and small ice cream. They also sold various items that residents donated when they were moving, either in, and wouldn't need them or when the moved out and weren't taking them. Initially everything was fine, then after about 8 or 8 months the manager was promoted and transfered to manage a building on the west coast and the assistant manager move up and they found a replacement for her. Again, things were great. The ladies that operated the building store, also provided and handled a Saturday morning coffee. Management provided most of the materials Then after the change in management, the building started changing, I personally attribute it to both the management and residents. Some of the residents, many that had lived there nearly from the original building, acted like they were the owners/managers and though they ran things. I am normally polite, respectful, honest, truthful, trustworhy and helpful. But if push came to shove, which I didn't allow to happen very ofen, I could embarrass the devil out of a sailor. In the seven years that Iived there we went thru 14 changes in management and I lost track of maintenance staff. After about four years the little sweet lady that did the housekeeping in both our building and the identicial one next door, gave notice and found another job. There were 138 apartments, some two some one bedrooms, and the main lobby, dining room, seating area, sofas, even a piano and fireplace. Management cut her days from Monday thru Friday, doing both buildings, and changed it to Monday, Wednesday and Friday yet expected her to keep the building as spotless as before. Really? 5 days a week, two buildings and then cut to three days still the same two buildings and expect her to be as efficeient as usual. Onr of the residents, who had moved in shortly before the housekeeper left, was a somewhat control freak, she did not hesitate to tell you that she was an retire head of a psych hospital and knew how to handle people. Shortly after the housekeeper left this person started 'assigning' days to do the vacuuming and cleaning on the floor they lived on. And some folks actually did. I was taking my dog out one afternoon and as I waited at the elevator Nurse Desiel was vacuuming the hallway and stopped and said "I'm assigning different days for folks to do the housekeeping of thehallsways and lobbys on their floor, what day can I put you down for?" I said, oh, let's see, how about the 35th of the month. She said OK and went back to vacuuming, then the light in her brain went on and she stopped and said, "Thom, there is no 35th of any month." I saidm "Yes, I know, and that will be the day I will do the vacuuming. She looked at me and said, "I'll have you know I am a retired head of a psych ward and I know how to handle people." And I looked straight in her eyes and said, "Yes, I know, do you know that in spite of being a retired Funeral Director, I still remember how to do autopsy and embalm, normally it was on a corpse but with enough rope and/or duct tape I needed wait, and I also know how to get rid of and/or hid a body, if you don't believe me, go ask Jimmy Hoffa." The elevator came and I and my dog got on it. I never had another problem with Nurse Deisel again. She didn't bother me about anything after that. She eventually moved. With the changes in management various residents took it upon themselves to inform the rest of us how, when and where things were done. That didn't change much even when we got management and/or mainenance. I could write a book about Manchester Lakes, but right now, I don't have the time nor the paper to do it. I am just releived that I moved with my family. I do still keep in touch a couple the my friends who still live there and they tell me that things have gotten worse, it used to be a 62+ senior building but recently, I think because they couldn't get so of us to stay nor could they get anyone to move in, they opened it up to the general public, and allow as many children and whatever size and behavior of pet you have. I think, I got out of there in the nick of time. It was a great place, but then I used to be 21 inches long and way 8 lbs. Thom Martin

Manchester Lake Senior Apartments is a community that is for the lifestyles of people who dont need the pressures of their counterparts - the youths. Geared towards a low profile style of living that is suited for seniors wanting to feel free and secure among people who have lived an accomplished life and want a lifestyle that doesnt require time constraints of todays young lifestyles. A place to communicate with like minded people who easily gravitate to one another. On my visit,I found the property very secure and with residents walking their pets or just taking in some fresh air. The property buildings are three stories tall with beautiful, spacious and well-maintained apartments. The properties have elevators and large sitting areas. Each floor has a laundry room with about 4 washers and dryers each. Try finding that in regular apartments. Furthermore, the facility amenities are very nice - sitting areas, libraries on various floors. An amazing facility for our loved ones and seniors alike.

I really havent had a bad experience at this place. There are people that smoke and I smell it sometimes when I come out of my apartment into the hallway. The trash Shute is full for a couple of days and some people dont keep it closed like they should. The maintenance crew need to do a little better about cleanliness of the hallway and stairs. Other than that its been pretty good here.

My husband and I have lived here for close to five years. The apartment complex is walking distance from two banks, grocery store and several restaurants. You can also catch a ride to the Kingstowne Area for shopping at great stores and eats at some great restaurants. Susan ONeil promptly takes care of any apartment needs we have and were grateful to her, we also appreciate maintenance when we need help with in our apartment. Management holds holiday events through out the year which the residents really enjoy. We love Saturday morning donuts from Dunkin Donuts and hot coffee every morning in both Manchester Apartment Buildings. Youll want to talk to Susan or Pam to get an apartment here at your new home!

Man the maintenance people here are rediculously good here. I had a leak in my kitchen due to like a broken faucet or pipe. Anyways I called the maintenance people and they guys came really fast like less then 2 hours. It was fixed that day which was awesome
