The 10 months ago review amazed me here. No disrespect. It seems like a great place looking at it, what it offers and plenty more but I can only think that there's good people there who manage there and not all people would give that type of feedback to a person who lost a loved one. Will contemplate on this one in all fairness but just confused.

I moved in October 31 2022 with my cat Mr. Brown and both me and him love it the food is excellent and the staff is so friendly and helpful especially the front desk girls everyone is so wonderful I have no complaints I love my apartment the windows are big and let me look out into the beautiful property and it's very spacious enough room for everything I need and could ever want I love having the gated property it's very secure and safe for us old people.

Apartments needed to be cleaned better and more often. Residents just get to know the staff and then they leave. Turn over is way to high. Can't keep the position of Director of Nursing filled.

My wife was able to get her father moved into the independent living section of this facility and it really suits him well. It's a fully self contained environment with a full service dining room, exercise equipment room, chair, theater, and barber shop. His apartment is nice and the price was the best in town we could find. And in a great location!

I have lived her for a year and a half it will be a whole 2 years in August, I love the grounds here some other places have no since of community and here we have lots of beautiful places inside and outside to enjoy, my apartment has valued ceilings and that was the first selling point for me it makes the place feel more spacious given the square footage, we have a amazing community full of lively and friendly residents and staff, everyone is so helpful and tolerant and the front desk is so knowledgeable on us residents they know all our names and always so cheerful. Activities for everyone and I would recommend living here over anywhere else!

The day begins at I.H With guided tours, shopping excursions, pharmacy pickups and exercise classes. A Country store, a Coffee pub in the common area and unlimited volunteer opportunities. They also have Non denominational church and Bible studies and local entertainment. This all makes I.H a congenial atmosphere. Come join us.

When my husband and I toured I.H. we were very impressed and immediately wanted to move in. We had to wait due to a waitlist and we had to move from California to San Antonio. We feel blessed to be at IH and we love it! What makes IH so special to us is the dedication of the staff whose only goal seems to be to keep us safe and happy. We appreciate all the Activities which include exercise, dance classes, golfing, swimming, walking in our safe gated community. There is so much more, from movies in the Theatre, and in-house Church as well as Bible study.There are many amenities I haven't mentioned. If you take a tour, you will find IH affordable and you'll be happy that you did.

I have been to almost all residential communities I the San Antonio area and where you might not think smell is important it is a easy guide to the quality of a facility and I have never smelled anything but clean and fresh here. I work here at Independence Hill and I quickly found it to be a place I would feel great having a family member stay at. The kitchen staff offers a good variety of meals and there are always events coordinated by the activities department to encourage the residents to have fun together and make new friends.

A unique and beautifully landscaped property, my on strict personal opinion is that there, a little too gun ho on the mask wearing considering they've had their shots. Feels a little humane for people in the Twilight of their lives to be restricted to wearing masks all the time.

We could've chose any place to live in the city but we chose Independence Hill, and after five years we're so happy that we did. The minute you drive into this gated community you feel like you're home, in a safe environment with like-minded retired professionals. The management staff is superb, maintenance is around the clock and the grounds are beautiful. We enjoy our life here and we know you will too.

My mom has been living at Independence Hill Retirement Community for close to 3 years and she's very happy there. Before moving to Independence Hill she was a bit lonely after my father passed away and she was mostly alone in her house. But now, at Independence Hill, she has lots of new friends and neighbors. She loves to attend the "Sitter-cise" and "Tex-exercise" classes, walk her little dog around the complex, and sit on a bench under a tree or on the front porch of the reception and activities building and chat with her neighbors. Her quality of life has really improved since moving to Independence Hill! From a personal perspective, I know the staff at Independence Hill are professional and caring individuals and that my Mom is in good and safe environment. I highly recommend Independence Hill Retirement Community.

My husband lives at Independence Hill Assisted Living. I live at Independence Hill Independent Living. My review is largely based on observations at Assisted Living, since I spend so much of my time there. In a congregate living situation, the residents are very dependent upon the staff's consideration. In both places, but especially at Assisted Living, I find the entire staff to be very friendly, helpful, kindhearted, and attentive to the needs of the residents. My husband has a part-time private duty caregiver. She has worked at many facilities around San Antonio. She has remarked that the staff at Independence Hill Assisted Living get along well with each other, and that is reflected in their care of the residents.

Independence Hill is the finest retirement community in south Texas. The campus is beautiful, with rustic oak trees and flowered landscaping at every turn. The talented , friendly staff make you feel that you're part of one large family. They are always smiling and eager to help anytime day or night. Mom is almost 97 years old and has been part of the Independence Hill family for over three years. She loves it. If you are looking for retirement living options for yourself or loved ones - Independence Hill Retirement Community should be number one on your list.

Independence Hill (IH) has been home for my mom for the past 5 years. She has been very happy there, and has loved participating in many of the activities, including bridge and duplicate bridge. I can't express my gratitude enough for all they did for the residents and families this past year a hard one for all of us, but especially difficult for seniors. When everything was shut down in March of 2020, IH came up with many unique solutions to keep all of the residents' safe, as happy as possible in spite of so much isolation, and well cared for. As my mom's Essential Caregiver, I was trained on how to properly keep every public surface clean, keep masked, keep our distance, and more. I have to brag that IH staff did an outstanding job of providing meals to every resident's apartment, checking on every resident every day, providing safe social engagement through afternoon snacks and calls, and more. They provided families a chance to visit in outdoor tents with proper distancing (very festive) or window visits. They also provided frequent updates on the health and safety of all of the residents and employees. I think, although I'm not sure, that only 4 employees ever were diagnosed with Covid, and only 3 residents, and all recovered. For as large a population as IH serves, that is a miracle! And, they have been extremely proactive in getting inoculations for every resident and employee. I think at last count, 96% of residents and staff have received their shots. That has allowed them to open ALL of the activities, including the dining room, crafts, beauty shop, and more. It is a great feeling to know that I can rely on them to really take care of my mom and everyone else. All of the staff are like family, and treat everyone with care and friendliness. Albert G. and his staff keep all of the facilities running smoothly, and if my mom ever needs anything, the repairs are done generally the same day. Patrick M. and his staff are fabulous food providers, and the menu is always a treat. The Activities department have so much going on, some days it is impossible for my mom to figure out which activity to go to. The Housekeeping staff are super! Carol B. has done a great job of keeping residents and families happy with their contracts. And I absolutely love the desk staff. Brenda is there most days, ready with a quick smile, and I've had to take care of my mom in the middle of the night, so I've met some of the guys (thank you, Matthew!) that are watching over everyone, 24/7. My mom and I couldn't be any happier with IH!

Love Independence hill! My mother moved in when she was 97... this week she turns 100. She loves the residents as they are nice down to earth people and the staff are so caring.The employees rarely change so it's so nice to see the same staff. The staff handled Covid so well they never had an outbreak like so many facilities.We are through covid now with 98% of people vaccinated and back to card games ,entertainment,exercise classes and so much more. A really nice facility and a bargain ! They provide so many services on property but will also take you to all sorts of appointments as needed.A really good Independent living facility. When my sister had issues last year because of our experiences with Independence hill she chose to move in there too. They actually live right next door to each other.I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice facility with caring staff and reasonable rates.

We have lived here for 2 years and just signed another 2 year lease. Wish it could have been a longer lease as we love it here. This move was the best decision we have made. We love our apartment with vaulted ceilings, we're friends with all of our neighbors, and we have yet to meet any staff who are not overly friendly. They are the best . Our main reason for moving here was the dining room and the tremendous selection of meals. During Covid the dining room has been limited, but our meals are being delivered to our apartments. What more could anyone ask. Even with Covid we are able to have excercises, swimming, games, crafts, scenic drives and more. We couldn't be happier living at Independence Hill.

We moved my mom to Texas from California 5 years ago. The staff is so sweet and attentive with her. They call her every morning to make sure she's okay. She loves sittercize and has made so many friends! It is a warm and friendly community of people.
