For those who are not aware, the Wellington offers "Respite Care" - temporary stays in their assisted living wing, for those who may need help on a temporary basis. In my case, this was an absolute life saver. A few months ago, my mother broke her ankle, and due to existing mobility issues, this left her unable to move around by herself at all for more than six weeks. She lives alone in another city, and keeping her with me became difficult, because I could not be around all day to help her get to the bathroom, bathe, etc. We were very stressed about how to get her through her recovery in a way that felt comfortable and dignified. That is where the Wellington came in and made things so much easier for us! Mom got set up with a room there, and had access to the Wellington's excellent caregiving staff 24/7. Just down the street from me in our cozy town of Richardson, it was very easy to visit her daily while still knowing she was still receiving the very best care when I wasn't around. Now, she is back on her feet and literally walking better than ever! We absolutely could not have gotten through this incredibly stressful time in our lives without the Wellington's amazing respite care service. Special shout out to Jamie and Wessen, they were fantastic! Thank you all so much!

Carlos Mehlin at The Wellington Assisted Living is the absolute best at what he does. He truly cares about the residents and always goes above and beyond to help and ensure that the residents and their families get what they need.
October 2025
Just wanted to share what a breath of fresh air the Wellness Director, Carlos is on AL side of the Wellington. His caring, hands-on approach to residents and family is so appreciated. He listens, responds, and follows up on any needs. Carlos has a heart and passion for the work he does and checks in on residents. His kindness and professionalism is above and beyond.

I am so pleased with The Wellington at Arapaho. The staff is taking such wonderful care of my dad as he is in the assisted living part of The Wellington. He has only been there a short time, but he is content. Dad is even beginning to make friends as the staff encourages his attendance at some of the fun events. He gets out of his room every day to join in meals and to watch the birds that they have. I have seen a major improvement in his mental health as he wouldn't even leave his room at the previous place. I could go on and on about The Wellington. When I need a place to be, I hope that The Wellington is still around for me as ALL of the staff are amazing! Also, where else do you get a Wellness Director who checks in on your dad when you call with a question or concern? Carlos makes sure to stop by and see him daily, but he goes beyond that as he takes time to listen to my dad tell his stories or listen to me as I travel this journey with my aging parents.

I have nothing but high praises for the Wellington. My Mom has been there on two occasions. The first time was for respite while her bathroom was being renovated and we chose for her to stay there again because the last experience was so great. This time her first few days were a bit rocky, but at no fault at all of the Wellington staff. They have worked with me personally to get my Mom everything that she needs to get her on the road to a speedy recovery. They have gone over and beyond to make her comfortable. My husband and I are very grateful for The Wellington and their staff.

My grandma has been at the Wellington a few months now she loves it the food is great, chef Cree comes up to her room to deliver her meals sometimes and checks on her to see if she eats or go make something she likes. Our family had lunch in the dinning room last week and what a great experience. The culinary department here is great and very organized. Can’t wait to go have lunch again.

I moved my dad from independent living, which is nice for all they do for residents, but had to move him to assisted living last November, which has been very disappointing. They are under new management, so I hope things improve. He is 97, I hope I don't have to move him.

March 2022
My husband and I have been residents of the Wellington for three and a half years. The friendly, cheerful atmosphere first attracted us to the Wellington as we searched for a new home. The many and varied activities make it easy to stay busy and have fun. The entertainment is excellent, even while following all of the Covid safety regulations. We feel safe in this well managed independent living facility. The staff in every area is eager and ready to care for any of our needs. We plan to be here for many more years. John and Maridelle Nevitt

My mom has lived at the Wellington for three years. The staff is wonderful! Her little studio apartment is super cute and they provide meals and activities. The staff has done an excellent job at keeping the community members safe during covid times. I appreciate them all!

The one thing I like about Wellington the worker's are all friendly and taking care of all the residents with dignity and respect at exercise we have a great fun in the morning and the food is always good they're a great people to work with every day.

The Wellington is a lovely place, beautifully decorated, clean and lots of activities. Their activity director is truly outstanding.
May 2021
Our choir has volunteered here for about ten years, and see the same kind people here year after year. Everything is beautiful, clean, and well kept, and the residents seem very content and happy with both the building and the employees.
May 2021
Our trio has sung there for free many times over the past 10 years. It's our favorite place to perform. The residents seem happy and the atmosphere is welcoming. I wanted my father to live there, but he didn't want to leave his house.
May 2021
My Dad moved in in November 2020. They have the best staff. Always friendly and helpful. My Dad has made so many friends and they have activities planned several times a week. Countless musical performers have come, Bingo, parties to celebrate holidays, exercise class, Spinners....the list goes on. They have helped make his transition from home after a large stroke so much easier.
May 2021
The staff at the Wellington have taken great care of my mother for years. However, it was during the pandemic of 2020-2021 that they truly proved their worth. While horror stories abounded about retirement homes, The Wellington at Arapaho managed to keep staff and clients alike safe while enabling us to continue to visit our loved ones and give them the family connections they need. Thank you, Wellington!
May 2021
Took very good car of my grandfather, eternally grateful
April 2021
I love the Wellington! The residents are like my family. The staff members are excellent with the residents.
April 2021
We enjoy singing for the Wellington at Arapaho. They are always ready for us, no guessing if we got the wrong day or time. The residents are always receptive and eager for our performance. We love it and so does the audience when the staff gets involved and they are always ready to please. We hope to continue singing hete for a long time.
April 2021
Absolutely wonderful center. I know my father is in good, healthy hands. Always am greeted with a smile coming & going. My father’s adjustment here was amazing due to the wonderful, caring staff and the many activities there are for the residents!!
April 2021
I wanted to write a review of this place simply because it was awesome to spend time talking to the residents. The residents seemed to be very happy with the staff. My job sent me there to give a fraud/scam seminar to the residents. It was a great turnout. We had over 30 residents participate and were very engaged . The Event Coordinator made it fun for the residents and ourselves. We played games and had root beer floats. The staff was very accommodating.
February 2021
My mother has been at the Wellington for three months. She is very happy there, and feels she is in the right place. When you walk in, you'll see the facility is very attractive. It's a lovely, well-designed place. But the truth is that the walls are less important that the people within those walls. My mother says that everyone, from housekeeping to maintenance to kitchen to front office, everyone has made her feel welcome. The facility director, Bret, makes it a point to know every one of the residents personally. He gets involved with day to day activities and jumps in where needed. He's not an office desk kind of director. I have been impressed with the Wellington's handling of COVID protocols. The residents have been kept COVID-free. They also had both doses of the vaccine brought to them on-site. It's a huge relief to know that they have been protected. My mother recently had major oral surgery. It is a fairly long recovery, and the kitchen staff has gone out of their way to provide soft foods for her. We are appreciative of that kind of caring approach. Bottom line: My mother is happy, and we are happy she's there.
January 2021
My Mother has been a resident for over 2 years. She considers this home and absolutely loves everyone there. The staff is beyond fantastic, she feels loved and cared for. On several occasions I have seen multiple staff dance and sing and get the residents involved. The smiles on their faces are fantastic. The staff continues to find ways for the residents to get exercise. The Wellington keeps me informed on any issues and has handled the Covid19 and lockdown remarkably well. Sharon Wheeler
January 2021
The Wellington at Arapaho is a wonderful and first-class community. The staff is friendly, helpful and always willing to assist you, no matter the situation. I have worked closely with Oly, the Activities Coordinator, and she is a top-notch individual. She truly cares about each and every resident. I have recommended The Wellington at Arapaho to several of my friends and associates. Keep up the good work, Wellington!
January 2021
From Tim Johnson (Pastor): The Wellington on Arapaho is a good place to live. The area that stands out is the housekeeping. They are 5 star service and the Activities: they are a 5-star act! That is just a few areas of many. Their staff is good.
January 2021
Nice place. Tim Johnson.
January 2021
We moved my mother to the Wellington 1 1/2 years ago. I researched over 13 facilities after our father passed away. When my mom and family came to town to tour various facilities, they fell in love with the Wellington at Arapaho. Their staff is always friendly and has a big smile on their face. They love and serve the residents so well. My mom has made so many friends while living there. They truly love and take care of each other. It has become an amazing community for her. She is so happy to be living at the Wellington with all they have to offer. The staff and residents have become her extended family. We feel blessed to have chosen the Wellington for our mom.
January 2021
Since Covid began and even before, the staff at Wellington has always been highly professional and caring with all of their residents. They succeed in their Efforts to make everyone there feel safe, comfortable and cared for. During this pandemic, they’ve gone the extra mile to assure safety and wellness, while still encouraging and providing life enrichment..They are truly Five Star.....…
January 2021
My father has been at the Wellington at Arapaho for almost 3 years and I am very pleased. As a home health therapist and I have been in many facilities that are not great, but the Wellington is not one of those. The staff places the resident's needs as a priority, the place is extremely clean, and there are activities to meet all interests and needs. Oly, the activity director treats the residents as family. I highly recommend this facility!!!
January 2021
I have enjoyed living at the Wellington these past 4 years. The Wellington is a great place to live at as there are plenty of things to do. The management at The Wellington do what needs to be done with a smile. They care for the people The other residents are friendly
January 2021
We moved my mother into the Wellington six months ago during the COVID crisis and I have to say it was the absolute best decision we could have made for her. While the process of vetting the facility, staff and company was more difficult because of COVID, they made us very comfortable with multiple phone calls and discussions before we made our decision. The management and staff have been thoughtful, extremely responsive and caring for my mom in a very, very difficult time. Their COVID protocols are thorough and they have kept the best interests of the residents at heart while remaining cheerful and compassionate. I highly recommend The Wellington - terrific people and a first class operation.
October 2020
I have had only the best of an experience. Bret our director thinks of his residents FIRST. Because he wants no virus he emphasizes safety with us and so far NO CASES of Covid in independent living or assisted living since March. We are getting some of the entertainment back but outside. You will never regret your move. A plus. EVERYBODY IS EXTREMELY NICE AND HAPPY. THANKS
July 2020
My Mom-in-law has lived at The Wellington for the last 7 years and she loves the family oriented community. The employees of The Wellington obviously care about the community and are responsive to residents' needs. Moreover, they truly enjoy spending time visiting with residents and the residents' wellbeing is priority number one. Activities are offered on a daily basis and outside entertainment is provided as often as possible, all following current CDC and county guidelines to maintain safety. The facility is clean and attractive. It has several outdoor areas where family members can safely visit and maintain social distancing, as well as a walking trail that my Mom-in-law utilizes daily. The new chef is providing tasty food, and is genuinely concerned about not only the residents' nutritional needs, but their enjoyment of meals. My Mom-in-law, and we, highly recommend The Wellington.
October 2019
Wonderful place to live. Great staff. Nice ammenities. Good food. A must to consider when you are searching for independent living.
July 2019
My Dad selected the Wellington on his own almost three years ago. Though he is not an overly social guy, he made good friends at the Wellington. The residents are wonderful. We recently had to move him out due to a stroke and declining health, but the staff and his fellow neighbors all wished him well. It's a very welcoming and friendly community. I think the food could stand to be improved and some maintenance issues took a little while to fix, but overall it was a great experience for my Dad.
September 2018
My mother has lived at this retirement facility for the past two years. She initially moved into the Independent Living quarters but soon had to go over to the Assisted Living side. While the Independent Living side was very comfortable and attractive, my mother was not able to manage on her own so we decided to take the leap to Assisted Living. My biggest worry when I made the decision to move my mother to Assisted Living was that she would disengage from life and waste away from boredom and sadness but quite the opposite has occurred. I truly believe that she is happier here at The Wellington at Arapaho than she has been for many, many years. There are many good reasons for this. The staff is caring, attentive and very careful to help my mother with her specific needs. For example, they watch her diet very carefully and make sure she doesn't eat anything that will cause her celiac disease to flair up. As to food, Michael, the Manager of Dining keeps a clean kitchen, serving very nutritious food with a serving staff that is extremely friendly and efficient. Latosha, the Director of Assisted Living, makes sure that the facility is efficiently and safely run and that residents' needs and wishes are met by the other staff members who I find to be courteous, helpful and attentive to my mother at the highest level. They come by my mother's room frequently to check on her. They make sure to keep her room safe and clean. They listen to her and encourage her to engage in group activities, of which there are many (O'Keefe and Oly, the Activities Directors, do a great job of keeping things fun and lively). The other residents are very nice and love to engage in conversation. I can honestly say that my mother is in excellent hands at The Wellington. I am very glad that we found it and that my mother's life is as secure and as happy as I could ever have hoped for. If you are considering an Assisted Living facility for one or both of your parents, I would highly recommend you consider The Wellington at Arapaho.

I have had the pleasure to work closely with Susan and her staff for many years. I have had so many great experiences referring residents to them. They are always professional and put the residents care and families first. I believe in them so much that my father moved in 2 years ago. I do not worry about him from a care or safety standpoint, which is a great relief to both me and my brother. I will continue to refer residents based on my professional an personal experience with them, without any hesitation.
September 2015
Great activities, residents and staff are very friendly. Very nice decor. Clean. They allow pets which is very nice, with plenty of room for the pets to play outside. The only thing wrong is the food is horrible. The vegetables are all canned except for the salad. The meat is frozen and then they cook it till it is too dry too eat. Everything is served with gravy. I have never seen such unhealthy food served anywhere except fast food places. We were told that there was a chef and a nutritionist on staff. Being married to a retired chef and having a son that is a chef, I can tell you that who ever cooks this food is no chef and I am not sure deserves to be called a cook. We moved here because we could no longer cook our meals on a regular basis. I could cook canned and frozen food myself on a regular basis, but we wanted fresh food cooked. We are both unhealthy and need our meals to be as healthy as possible. Not getting that here. We are debating about staying, since that is a major reason that we are willing to pay the expensive price of a senior living. I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. They do tend to serve a better meal on tour days.
