I went to Kirkwood for therapy and have to say the rehab is the best ever. And all the therapists are kind and caring and they work very hard. The nursing staff was the best and they really care and they go way beyond doing their job. And the housekeeping staff are the best and kept my room very clean daily. Their activities director gives her all to make the residents stay involved in the activities. And work hard to make holidays special.Thank you for getting me better and for caring for me and other residents with loving care.

My 90 year old granny with dementia comes here for respite care. She loves the activities! I love how the nurses make such an effort to get her involved with activities daily. She always comes home well rested and clean. (We have experiences at other places in NB, where this is not the case:( ) I truly appreciate Hospice too, who facilitate her stay and always provide such great care. Kirkwood is clean, well maintained and has plenty natural light.

It was terrible. I was isolated in a room even tho I had both of my COVD Vax. Very blah room, no pictures on the walls a small tv hung on the wall, maybe 26 in. and only 99 channels. From day one they lost my clothes...the clothes went to their own laundry, but often never made it back. A friend bought me several new clothes, but the person at the front someone else's name in them....a real hassle to find them. Food was terrible...at least I lost weight. I was not in there because I was ill, strictly rehab after surgery. Would bring food and put on table and it was up to me to get in position to eat. I was there 20 days, had 3 showers. Don't remember them changing the bedding. Then, the personnel. Most were kind and helpful. BUT, at 3am I needed to go to the bathroom and needed assistance because I was unable to get there or on/off the toilet on my own. When I rang saying as was finished, the RN came and I asked for assistance in getting off AND she refused. Said if I wanted off I had to do it myself! She didn't assist because she might fall and get hurt, she was fragile. Soooo, after about 15-30 minutes and a lot of pain, I got off. (The other person on duty was on her meal break). Bright and early the next morning the nursing supervisor was in my room getting and ear full...later I had a toilet seat riser in my bathroom. I STILL GET UPSET WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT!!! Also you had to know a half hour before you needed to use the bathroom, because it took that long for them to answer the call button. I can't begin to say how happy I was to get out of that place. Sorry folks, but it was emotionally and mentally the best time of my life.

We are always nervous about these kinds of situations but the staff at Kirkwood Manor made us feel extremely safe and comfortable. We felt as if our aunt was in great hands. The staff was kind and compassionate and completely put our nerves at ease. The nursing staff are very knowledgeable and the facility is very well kept. Any questions we had were answered with confidence, we highly recommend it here.

NEVER you this facility. Care was substandard and business office blames everything on corporate. Filed a complaint with Humana. Do so if you experienced the same for your love one. If not Humana the board of Nursing Homes. My husband would have died if I left him there.!!!!!! Do NOT leave your love one in this death home. One star doesn't even qualify.

My father was placed there once before and it was an old but pretty good place. My father went back there in May and June 2021. The place is like a ghost town. Most days they had only one nurse. The nurse had to do it all. We were very disappointed.

Since I live in Canyon Lake, My Orthopaedic Onocology Sergion at the Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center San Antonio, recommended that I do my post operation, sarcoma, rehab exercises at neareby Kirkwood Manor in New Braunsville. I shared a room with a veteran and ex-Texas Highway patroolman; we bacame best friends in no timw, looked forward twice everyday to sitting at the same lunchroom table with two other new friends, shared many, many life stories together. Weekly menus were posted in the lobby and lunchroom offering a wide selection of choices. For me, it was a bit sad leaving my friends behind when my seven-day stay was up. I cant say enough about my rehab exercises; the rehab staff members had a complete record of my illness and matched me with the many various types of exercising equipment to fit my particular needs, along with their personal advise and assistance, e.g., the correct way to use a walker, and that, in my case, took some training. Now, should I need more rehab in the future, dealing with this stage 3 cancer - It will be Kirkwood manor for me.

My 92 year old mother Betty Newman has been a resident at Kirkwood Manor for 2 1/2 years until she passed away this morning. I have nothing but good things to say about this facility and all the staff.. I absolutely disagree with any reviews below 4 stars. . My mother was full Alzheimer and I know there were times she was difficult, but I found all the staff that cared for her to be loving and caring. I want to name individuals who went above and beyond but fear I would forget someone. Her last 48 hrs the nurses and staff were constantly checking on her comfort as well as mine. I think this place is staffed with amazing people who truly have the gift of caring for the elderly. I also want to thank Rosie and the business office for all their knowledge and help. I also want to thank Harbor Hospice for just being the wonderful blessing they are!

The employees treat my husband, whos a resident there, and me with the utmost respect and care. I checked out all the different facilities in New Braunfels and while this one is not the fanciest, or the newest, I did find out that the majority of the workers have longevity. I personally asked several of them how long theyd been with KWM and each one of them said anywhere from 8-13 years. Now that says something about the staff. And while its not the lest expensive, they are certainly the best! I highly recommend Kirkwood Manor.

My dad is at Kirkwood and the staff have at times had to be stern with him but they know how to be professional about it in a dignified manner where he still feels important. They bend the rules a bit to try to make him happier with his meals because they want him to at least get some type of nutritution in his meals. Hes too used to my moms cooking. From what Ive seen when I visit, the staff always show respect for their residents and at the same time try to get them to do what is the best for them too. Kudos to the staff at Kirkwood. I know its not easy to have to deal with many that change by the hour. Keep it up, your trying to do a good job

This is a very clean upbeat place. was hoping to have my Father-in-law stay here for respite care. Unfortunately with the stage of his dementia he might wonder out and they are not staffed for one on one or lock in. If not for his condition I would of selected this as his respite. Give this place a chance by personally visiting it don't go by what you see posted.
