My experience with this rehabilitation center has been wonderful. I have had a great experience with the staff and it has been easy for my mom to transition into Permanent stay I think personally no nursing facility is perfect. Words can not express my gratitude to the kindness, professionalism, and patience extended by Ms. China. She went above and beyond in assisting getting my mother's application processed. Sterling Oaks has certainly the right person in place as Ms. China was very understanding and maintained communication throughout the whole process. I am so very appreciative to her and her team. We have encountered nothing but kindness with the staff members thus far. Everyone has been very caring.

Sterling Oak Rehabilitation Center I hope this email finds you well. My name is Geraldine Recalde, and I am reaching out on behalf of my mother Olimpia Martinez who recently received care at your facility. I understand that you may be facing challenges related to short-staffing, and I want to bring to your attention a few concerns that my family has expressed. Firstly, we did not receive the expected assistance with resources during my mother's stay at the failcity. As a facility that truly cares about the well-being of patients and their families, I believe is crucial to provide them with the necessary support and guidance during their rehabilitation journey, this may include communicating with nurses and cna about the care of the patient. If we did not ask for updates they were never shared or talked about how my mother was doing or what type of medications were being administered to her. They just came in and gave her the medication. Secondly, the social worker assigned to us was not helpful. It's vital to have a compassionate and helpful social worker who can address the concerns and needs of our family effectively. They play a significant role in providing emotional support, facilitating communication, and assisting with the coordination of care . I never felt heard while asking for guidance on the process of how everything was going to happen, she was very hands off and seemed to not care much to help find ways to help me with my mother's care. Additionally , we expressed our concerns with the insurance coverage and the process made and potentially discharged my mother too earlier. While insurance coverage is an important consideration, it is equally important to prioritize the patient's well-being and ensure she received the appropriate level of care , It would have been beneficial for everyone involved to actually listen to our concern of my mother being discharged earlier than need it , they made it clear to the insurance that she was leaving the place in a walker when in reality she was discharge on a wheelchair. This cost my mother about $1,000 out-of-pocket to make sure she was properly discharged into the next step of her care in an assisted living facility; prevented having to do multiple transportations back and forth of bringing her home, orthopedic follow up appt, and assisted living facility risking further injury and a another trip to the ER. Lastly, on the last day of her stay they misplaced her dentures and when asked to what happened to them they did not took ownership of the carelessness of the staff on cleaning the room request for reimbursement since my mother spend $1000 on them with her limited income is an expense she does not need and they washed their hands and said that it was not their policy to care for things lost due to their lack of care. I understand that running a rehab facility can present various challenges and I genuinely believe that your staff is doing the best they can with what they got and make the best effort to provide the best care possible. However, I wanted to bring these concerns to your attention so that maybe you consider addressing them for the betterment of your patients and their families. I was having an issue getting my mother moved from a facility in Port Arthur, Texas to Houston and Ms. China with Sterling Oaks was very helpful throughout the process. If I could give her 10 stars I would.

This is a great facility! I highly encourage anyone to take their loved ones here for rehab or long term. I worked at this facility from August 2021 to March 2023. The facility is always clean and smelling very nice! There are an abundance of activities to keep the residents happy and a lot of community involvement! The building is beautifully designed and rooms are spacious. The food is always both delicious as well as nutritious. The nursing team is very compassionate and quick to respond to the resident's needs. It is truly a great place!
