The first time I saw this place I fell in love with everything Saint Dominic gave to people in need of recovering from a big lungs transplant like my husband. I knew that my husband would love the place and how we would be able to go to their different places where the cafeteria was and the chapel where all who would like to attend to their every day Mass. This place has a real good feeling of belonging and being able to go for walks with such serenity. Thank you Saint Dominic’s for giving me and my husband a wonderful place to stay while my husband recovered from his Lungs transplant.

We had our TALA conference here this week. I am so impressed with the wonderful hospitality of all the staff, sweet smiles, great food, and overall just a wonderful experience l! The Executive Director, Randy, is so kind and it is reflected on the knocks on the windows to say hello to her during class by residents and staff and her joking and laughing with her team around every corner. Really great experience! Wonderful community!

We chose St. Dominic’s for my brother’s rehabilitation after a toe amputation at VA and I am so glad that we did. He was recently sent back to the hospital and chose to return there after his hospital stay, because of the kind and caring staff, nurses, and physical therapist at St. Dominic’s. Also, on the days that I could not be with him, I felt confident in knowing that my brother was well taken care of and treated with dignity and respect. Shout out to Nurse Kim, Marlene, and the Social Worker Ms. Kristy Jones for the compassion shown to the patients there. Thanks for making my brother feel right at home.

We went to visit the facility. It’s gated and there are numerous buildings in the complex. The signs are hard to see.

Staff excellent. Took care of my Sister as regards my requests. Staff in dining area very helpful .

My mom has been a resident in Independent Living for 4 years and has been very happy there. When she needed a hip replacement, she went into St. Dominic's skilled nursing and rehab facility on the same campus short-term. It was so convenient to bring her back to the same campus that has three tiers of care. The nurses and physical therapists were so kind to my mom. I visited her almost every day and, without fail, the facility was clean, my mom was well groomed and well fed, and I felt comfortable knowing she was safe and well cared for. The staff went above and beyond to get my mom walking again and they treated her with kindness. She was then able to return to her room in independent living.

I have stayed at St. Dominic’s several times over the past 2 1/2 years. My experiences there have always been good. The staff are very helpful & kind; food in cafeteria is tasty; is a quiet, safe & affordable place; and as an extra added bonus they have a precious sweet little cat (Miss Kitty) around there that brings joy wherever she goes. I highly recommend St. Dominic’s!

We really love St. Dominics. All the staff is so kind and caring every time we visit my grandma. Our family recently celebrated her birthday in the main dining room across from the chapel. The staff not only made us a delicious meal, they went out of their way to help us celebrate and make her feel special!

We have really loved St. Dominic’s Assisted Living. My mom's quality of life is so much better because she is able to attend daily mass- which was a very important part of her life. They have one of the most caring, patient and kind employees in the world. He name is Yava Neloms! My mom said if she had a million dollars she would give it to her. The entire nursing staff is so wonderful! Highly recommend!

I recently attended a training at St. Dominic Village in Houston and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly, making me feel right at home. The meals provided were delicious and well-prepared, highlighting the attention to detail that St. Dominic Village puts into every aspect of their service. The campus itself is beautiful, with well-maintained facilities that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. This setting made it an ideal place for learning and personal development. Additionally, the trainers were very knowledgeable and engaging, effectively communicating complex topics in an understandable and relatable manner. Their ability to connect with participants and stimulate meaningful discussions was particularly noteworthy. Overall, my time at St. Dominic Village was a very positive experience. The combination of a great environment, excellent staff, and effective training programs really stood out. I look forward to the opportunity to return and would highly recommend their facilities and programs to others looking for high-quality educational experiences in a supportive community setting.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a workshop for Assisted Living Managers at Saint Dominic’s campus. I also attended a UT Health certification program in geriatrics for healthcare professionals also offered at Saint Dominic’s. Professionally I have worked with the social services and nursing professionals at Saint Dominic’s skilled nursing home. I am always impressed by the professionalism and positive attitude that Saint Dominic’s staff has! For this last event all participants were wowed by Saint Dominic’s culinary team! A special shout out to Chef Nicole for noticing that I was a vegetarian. Although the spread served looked fantastic as it was, Nicole went the extra mile to make sure I had more vegetarian options. Thank you to John Connolly, CEO, and team for your welcoming and professional hospitality and service!

My Dad needed rehab after being in the VA hospital for three weeks. St Dominic's was approved by the VA so this is where he went. We have had bad experiences in the past at other facilities and St Dominic's provided wonderful services from the nurses care to the physical therapist's and even the food they served was good. My Dad could not have been in better hands. Thank you St. Dominic's!

My mom was a resident here and her experience along with mine was a great experience. Like any place there always room for improvement. But all the staff was nice and respectful. The nursing staff was delightful, knowledgeable and very considerate especially the licensed nurses. I dare not forget to mention the Cna's they were excellent as well. My mom was worried about how her stay would be, but they made my mom feel safe and comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone.

We have stayed at St. Dominic's Village in the Angel House Rooms several times while receiving treatment at MD Anderson and Houston Methodist. It is such a lovely and comfortable place to stay. We enjoy walking around the grounds, talking with the sweet people, eating in the Dining Room at very reasonable cost, relaxing in the community room, spending quiet time in the library or in one of the gardens, and going to the Chapel for prayer and services. The Angel House Rooms are clean and comfortable (w/twin beds only)and laundry facilities close by. You truly get a great place to stay for a great price that is close to the medical facilities. Even more importantly, you feel the love of Christ everywhere you go. There are a couple things to know about getting to St. Dominic Village (SDV) and the Angel House Rooms. First, because there are two locations in Houston with the same address as St. Dominic, 2401 Holcomb Blvd, make sure you include the zip code 77021 or you may end up on the other side of town!!! Also, if you are staying in the Angel House Rooms, they are located in Charlotte Hall. When you enter the Village, you will come to the gate. You will need to tell them you are going to Charlotte Hall, not Angel House. When you get to Charlotte Hall, there is no specific sign for Angel House, but the nice folks at the front desk will check you in and get you to your room. If you are driving, you can park out front or on the right side of the building. One other helpful note, SDV is no longer offering transportation for Angel House guests to the medical facilities. You can get an Uber quite easily, at a reasonable cost, and you will save money on very expensive parking at the medical facilities. Again make sure you give the Uber Driver the CORRECT address with zip code for pick up. Hope this helps you have a blessed stay!!

Angel House is a lovely place to stay. It’s a blessing to be so close to the Medical Center when having treatment. The staff is so helpful & very friendly.
August 2024
My husband and I were able to stay in this lovely facility during medical visits to MD Anderson. Everything is so clean, updated, and comforting. We felt very safe on the grounds and the location was really convenient to the medical district. The meals were very good too. This was such a wonderful and affordable option for us. Thank you so much for your ministry.
August 2024
It was clean and neat. I enjoyed staying there while I was getting a treatment from MD Anderson. Walking is about 15~20 minutes. There is a bus stop right at the front gate going to MD Anderson directly which takes about 5 minutes. The staff was friendly and nice.
August 2024
Great place to stay. Always very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. No matter the time you check in they are right there ready to get you in your room. Super close to MDAnderson. Also they have the cafeteria you can eat all 3 meals at for just a few dollars and it is only a 5 minutes walk from the rooms.

I've been here 12 years now, & things have come & gone. I would say that this past memorial day was exceptional with the indoor cookout & those singers. However, we've been having new problems as of late such as a beautician who was dismissed in a frivolous manner, an elevator still on the fritz, mail distribution is different, & whatever. And rent hike evangelism continues year after year. And inflation is legalized theft, bidenomics notwithstanding whom I didn't vote for. And I guess only Christian's should be hired, but I wonder if any hirerers are born again themselves.

I have encountered many rewarding experiences at St. Dominic Village. The mission at SDV is truly embedded in striving for excellence. The residents at St. Dominic Village live on a multi acre campus, in the Texas Medical Center where they can live independently or receive medical assistance from the rehabilitation and nursing center, without leaving the grounds. The activities programs alone are a huge incentive for future residents to come and join the fun. You will find that residents are not an afterthought at St. Dominic Village, but a well thought out plan.

We recently had our mother in-law at St. Dominic's Skilled Nursing and Rehab for about 3 months. While it is an older facility, all the care and attention she received was top notch. Everyone on staff (from the custodians, maintenance, CNAs, therapists - PT, OT, and Speech, physicians, nurses, and leadership) were all so caring to her! We saw this everyday we visited and there were even tears and hugs on her departure day from many of the staff team. Even when we didn't know what to expect, everyone was always checking in on her and the family to make sure all her needs and care were met. Shout outs to Nate, Gail, Kim, Amir, Jaye, Mike! You make St. Dominic's special 🙂

At first glance I was truly worried about having my.mother here at St Dominic's Rehab center. But after spending a week by her side I have to say she could not have gone to a better place. The staff is very caring and Dr Riser is so attentive and goes the extra mile to make sure she gets better. The PT & OT personnel are.all top notch their objective is to help her out of the bed and into a self sustainable life. It was very important for me that I could stay with her overnight St. Dominic's applauds the involvement of family. Thank you for that.

Several members of my family have been provided care at St. Dominic's Village in recent years and I always found the staff to be kind and caring, the facility to be clean, and the care and attention to be excellent. Finding a community to care for our elderly loved ones can be overwhelming and my family has been very happy with St. Dominic's and the service found there.

If I were rating the staff I interfaced with when I was in assisted living, I would give a 4 or in some cases a five. I have lived here, now in independent living, for two years. Staff in independent living has been friendly and helpful. My issues with St. Dominic have been related to the food, the lack of a separate activity director for assisted living for more daily contact and stimulation, money spent to enhance the Tower entrance instead of furniture, wallpaper, painting and basic facility care in assisted living, as well as areas of independent living. Seating areas on the first floor of the Tower have been removed, so if a resident needs to suddenly sit, their option is the floor. I see more crisis management than I would expect from a facility with professional management. In your response to me, it appears you did not understand that I was commenting on concerns about issues with assisted living. Since I spent a year and a half in assisted living, the needs there have been my focus. Please reread what I said. Thank you.

I have known several residents of the Village, they have loved St Dominic Village.
June 2023
Both of my grandmothers spent there last days here under very different circumstances. Both experienced kind, caring staff who helped them live their remaining days with dignity.
June 2023
After the gentle care my mother-in-law received in St. Dominic’s skilled nursing, my family knew where to turn when my mother needed skilled nursing. The elder care here met the needs of both ladies with a responsive staff of caregivers and medical team. I was reassured when my check-in phone calls were returned promptly by the nursing staff. It was the nursing staff who helped me better understand the aging process of a nonagenarian. Also, having all things Catholic available meant a lot to our mothers as they approached the end of their lives.

This facility is a senior care community with a wonderful mission. It’s a community of people taking care of people. No facility is perfect and will ever be perfect. They have a wonderful team from the Physicians, Nurses and a core team of nursing assistants, medication aides. The administration and nurse administration are always available. If there is any issue and the immediate care staff are not responsive then find a supervisor to assist with whatever it may be. This is a committed and hard working team of people taking care of people. TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE .. Go Team!

My grandmother was a resident at Saint Dominic village for about six months from August 2017 until March 2018. We chose this facility due to its highly Catholic sensibilities. Our grandmother is very Catholic and she loved the church on campus as well as the near daily religious activities available. Her accommodations were nice and she said she also really enjoyed the food which was a plus. The roster of activities that they had was also very interesting. It was challenging for us to find an assisted living facility because our grandmother does not speak any English, only Spanish. We were assured throughout the application process that this would not be an issue. Unfortunately, it proved to be an issue from day one when the head nurse informed us upon move-in that she would not be able to take care of our grandmother despite everything that was told to us during the application process. We managed to come to understanding that day and moved her in. They do you have one nurse who speaks good Spanish and she was a huge help to us throughout the process. We did experience some issues from time to time with the language barrier including the facility not allowing our grandmother to go on some off-campus trips as they said they cannot communicate with her. Wish they had been honest about this upfront. Where we became completely disillusioned with the facility was when our grandmother's dementia and paranoia flared up early this year. She sometimes suffers from paranoia and believes that others are speaking negatively about her when this is not the case. She became very defensive and even lashed out at one resident, which we were promptly informed about. None of my family thinks that this is acceptable and we began to work with her psychiatrist to find a medication regimen that would help her with these feelings. Before we had the chance to do much more or even meet with Saint Dominic for a family meeting which they had requested and we had agreed to they called my brother-in-law one morning and asked us to please pick her up by noon! As you can imagine, this was a very distressing phone call to receive! They then informed us that she would need to immediately leave as they considered her a threat to the community. While I do not condone anger or violence in anyway, our grandmother is 4'9" and weighs about 100 pounds So I'm sure she wasn't going to injure anyone! I have since spoken with the department of aging and disability services and we are filing a formal complaint. I believe their attempt to kick her out is illegal and against the contract that we signed up. The next week was incredibly stressful to say the least as we were forced to provide a person to care for her during every waking hour even thought we were already paying the facility to care for her. We have since moved her out to another facility that is much more understanding of elders with dementia and paranoia. St Dominic told us point blank that they do not deal with these issues. So bottom line would be, if your elderly loved one has any sort of dementia, paranoia, or Alzheimer's Saint Dominic is absolutely not a place you would want to send them as they have no patience or understanding here. Very disappointing for a facility that claims to "Care for our elders with the compassion of Christ."
