Reviews Sedro Trail Assisted Living and Memory Care
January 2024
John was in Sedro Assisted Living for a short period of time, but was extremely well taken care of. All the staff were supportive of him and attentive to his needs. They worked very closely with Gentiva Hospice so that no gaps in communication occurred. Their door was always open to his relatives to visit, which we did at various times of day and night. He happened to be there over the Holidays in 2023 and I was very pleased that staffing and attention to his needs were not affected by them. If you are looking for a fancy place, then this is not for you, but if you are looking for a place like home then you have found it. Did I mention that the meals are freshly made and delicious? And that the other residents were always clean and the staff consistently engaged with them in conversation. This is the place were I would like to go, if I were in need.

I cannot recommend Sedro Trail Assisted Living and Memory Care enough! They gave our Mom such great end of life care. I thank God every day that we found them because our prior experience with another local facility was not good. The staff is so loving and Yvette is amazing at handling all of the insurance challenges. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Sedro Trail again and again. In my opinion, the ONLY way to go is with a small facility as the care is so much better and much more personalized. HIGHLY Recommend!!!

Sedro Trails is a super place!! It has a home feel to it. It is spotlessly clean with no “nursing home “odor and is beautifully furnished. My dad stayed there over 3 years and my mom over a year and a half. The owner is meticulous in her administration of the facility and care of the residents. Very grateful for having had such a wonderful place to care for our parents!

My mother has lived at Sedro Trails over two years. We are extremely pleased with the love and care she receives. Attentive staff and accessible owners help my family know that our mother is in the BEST place.

The staff at Sedro was amazing and treated my parent like family. They truly care about their work and I highly recommend them.

Mom was here for 4 years and got excellent care. All the staff were caring and really looked after mom. I especially appreciated how they notified me whenever mom needed to talk to/see a familiar voice/face (I'm the only person she remembered). I highly recommend Sedro Trail to anyone looking for a small, home-like setting with attentive and caring staff for their loved one.

After putting my wife in a care facility close to our home i realized that we were in the wrong place. Then i moved her to Sedro Trail Assisted Living and she and i were much happier. A caring owner, and staff were able to give her the quality of life she deserved until her passing. I am very thankful to everyone at Sedro Trail for their compassion , love , and care for my wife.

My mother has been at Sedro Trails for about 2 months and we could not be more impressed. She suffers from Dementia and the previous facility (skilled nursing) seemed to struggle with her condition which resulted in her being restless or agitated. The owners of Sedro Trail are very involved and attentive and have a great staff that are very positive, patient and caring. We have seen a dramatic change wherein my mother is now settled and happy.

Being able to move my Mother to Sedro was truly a blessing, she had been in a nearby facility where she had been mistreated by one of the staff. Walking into the previous place she stayed was always heartbreaking it was like she was just being stored until her passing. Going to visit her at Sedro was heartwarming. Sedro has an home environment and the owners and staff truly seemed to care about all the residents giving each personal, loving care. Thank you Sedro !

We have only praise for Sedro Trail. My husband was a resident there for the last months of his life. It was a gift to have such professional , compassionate people taking care of him. The owner and her manager are with the residents and know them well. The staff is so supportive and positive. Everyone is treated like family. The home and large landscaped lawn allow for the residents to come and go freely.. There is no other place in the Austin area that compares to this home. Sedro Trail is five star in every respect. I can say these glowing things since we had two unfortunate experiences before coming to Sedro Trail. One at a small home-like memory care facility where his care was less than ideal as advertised. We had to bring him home after three days. The other one where he was a resident at a larger place where the ratio was one caregiver to 10 residents, an impossible task at times when dealing with mentally challenged residents. We were relieved when Sedro Trail called to say that a room was available for my husband. We have only good memories of my husbands time there. Thank you Sedro Trail, one and all.

I moved my husband from a larger nursing home to Sedro Trail Assisted Living and Memory Care, where he remained for his final months. What a difference! Sedro Trail is a very homey environment with a large beautiful backyard. My husband benefited from the caring staff. The owner and manager were always accessible to me. The residents and their families were able to get to know one another and become a support group to one another. Sedro Trail was the right choice for us, and I am very grateful for the care my husband received there.

Phenomenal care - only the best for our father! This assisted care house (not FACILITY) was a really wonderful option for us when it was no longer safe for my father to maneuver around at the house. The house and back yard were great for our family, including my young children, to frequently visit. My kids would have never been able to spend so much time with their "Papa" at a nursing home type of environment. The staff really cared about my Dad, and that is key to being at peace with having to move a loved one out of their house. They were able to adapt the level of care as his disease progressed, and had all the resources and knowledge to make the process as comfortable as possible for him and our entire family. We will always have a special place in our hearts for the people at Sedro Trail.

For over three years, our mother was lovingly cared for in the beautiful and intimate home-like setting of Sedro Trail Assisted Living. The owners, manager, and staff respectfully gave her individualized care and she was happy there from the very first day. Sedro Trail is not the typical large impersonal facility. The house is immaculately kept, laundry is done daily, meals and snacks are well planned and served in a family setting, and it feels like one is living in the quiet countryside.

I had a friend who was a patient at Sedro Trail from October, 2016 through September, 2017 and had the opportunity to observe closely the operations and actions of the staff at Sedro Trail. First of all, I will say that, if I ever have a need for their type of service, I will, first and foremost, consider them. From the first time I went to Sedro Trail, I was positively impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, the service attitude the staff exhibited, the care and interaction with the residents, the physical layout, and the ratio of staff to residents. After several months of going to Sedro Trail, I can honestly say the staff does not view their involvement as a job but as a service to others who have a need. It was a satisfying experience each and every time I went to observe the staff and their daily care and interactions with the residents. Dave Baldwin

Low quality care Don’t fall for the owner’s charming, but disingenuous, story-telling and demeanor. She will brag about their staff-to-resident ratio, but the quantity doesn’t manifest into quality care. While there are a couple of very caring employees, they do not (and cannot) provide the majority of the care in a 24/7 environment. Most employees here are inexperienced and the turnover rate is high (even observed within the brief time that I visited). High turnover rates are almost always due to unfair treatment from business owners and it’s not a stretch to then imagine how the residents are treated. If you want your loved one to get quality attention and care, look for a facility that is classified as a “skilled nursing” facility; they must meet higher educational and qualification standards than an “assisted living” facility. Also, if you decide this is the place for your loved one and you come to an agreement with the owner about anything, get it in writing. Although she admitted she made an agreement, she said she wasn’t going to honor it and didn’t ‘have to’ because she didn’t sign anything. That behavior wouldn’t be surprising from some business owners, but it’s particularly appalling in this line of work. Resources abound on the Internet; I wish I had had more time to research this properly. There are numerous lists on the web of questions to ask when researching living facilities; to them, I’d add: 1) ask questions about the staff, i.e. their education, certification, professional experience, longevity with the facility, etc. - these are the people who will engage with your loved one on a daily basis, so you’ll want to know how they are qualified 2) visit unannounced and ask for a tour and 3) look for a visitor and ask them what they like/dislike about the care their loved one is getting.

Great place, great staff, and wonderful environment.

My mom moved into Sedro Trail in the fall of 2014 and has shown significant improvement in her attitude and physical well being since then. The owners, Jason & Yvette, show a lot of insight in the ways that they run Sedro Trail and the people that they hire. My mom loves the staff, and talks about all of the little ways that they make her life better. I am in and out a lot visiting my mom, and see first hand how attentive the staff is to all of the residents. Sedro Trail is run more like a family home than a facility. My mom gets to choose when she gets up and eats breakfast, and when she goes to bed at night. She doesn't have much of an appetite, so the staff makes her protein smoothies often, which she just loves. The home is always clean and smells fresh, but the staff seems to be spending the majority of their time hanging out with the residents. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe and loving home for an elderly parent.

I finally have found the perfect place for my mom who is 92 and has mild dementia. And the best part is that Mom agrees. Following the death of my stepdad in 2011, Mom lived in another small residential facility and one large assisted living/memory care facility prior to moving to Sedro Trail. Both promised individualized care and structured activities, but neither truly delivered. The first time I visited Sedro Trail, Veronica told me that she & I would sit down together and develop a 'plan of action' for Mom based on her personal likes and interests toward the goal of her truly living the years that she has left. We did that, and it has made all the difference. Plus, the caring staff, the home-like atmosphere, and the personal attention, including medical attention, that Mom gets daily are phenomenal.

What a truly special HOME. The residents (and staff!) are such an endearing family. Each member of this family is not only respected, but loved unconditionally. It has been such an honor and privilege to help with Bible studies at Sedro Trail. To be able to get to know these special folks not only as a group, but as the unique individuals they are. Their individuality is encouraged and appreciated....at all times. It's very apparent how much the staff loves each and every one of the residents. Many thanks for allowing me the opportunity to join God in His work at Sedro Trail.

During the holidays, we organized a group of young children to visit the residents of Sedro Trail and spread some holiday cheer. This is an intimate, beautifully maintained environment staffed by the most cheerful and caring attendants. The residents are happy and their needs/wants are truly understood. It is obvious that this facility is truly a 'home' for their residents.
