My wife was at this facility in 2023 to 2024. She fell in the bathroom and fractured her hip. The night aides dragged her from the bathroom and put her back in bed even though she was in obvious pain. The aides did not alert management, write up an incident report, or notify hospice, emergency services, or me. I would not have know what happened except I had a camera in the bedroom. Video is available for the whole incident. Turnover of personnel is terrible and experience level of the aides is pretty low. My advice is to look elsewhere for a suitable facility for your loved one.

Avalon was a godsend for my father. After we had an absolute nightmare of an experience at his previous facility Sunrise that ended up kicking him out, Avalon welcomed him with open arms. The director Matthew is incredibly kind, professional, and even helped me move in my dads items on his day off. Himself and Breonna made sure they were always available for me when I needed something. They kept me well informed, and were very understanding of my fears and sadness while watching my dad go though the normal process of decline with Alzheimer’s. My mother and I would visit my dad several times a week and he always looked like he was being well cared for - showered and shaved, teeth brushed, room was clean and bed was made. Angela was my angel caretaker who took a true interest in making sure my dad and the other residents were doing well. Theresa was also wonderful and always doing a great job. Millie the med tech kept me up to date on his meds and helped me coordinate with their PA. Most of the staff seemed to genuinely care about the residents here. No place is perfect and small things would happen from time to time but they were quickly attended to when mentioned. All in all, Avalon felt more like a home than an institution or facility and the residents seemed happy here. They take the time to really understand the individual residents and cater to their own unique needs rather than forcing them to do things with a “one size fits all” approach. As an only child and I was so worried about moving my dad but they made me feel so comfortable and confident in their care. I cannot thank Matthew, Breonna and the rest of the team enough for making my dads last 6 months of life as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

The Avalon Memory Care in Carrollton is by far a great place for your loved one to be. My dad was a resident there for a little over 2.5 years.. I never had to worry about his care. The staff is awesome and very in tune with each residents needs. They are very interactive with them and make sure they do their best for residents to have happy days. The facility is beautiful, clean and the food is very good. The director Matthew Gerleman is someone who makes sure that everything is running smooth. He's out there along with the caregivers interacting with the residents as well. Our family grew to love each and every staff member as part of our own.. our dad was content and happy and we couldn't have picked a better place for him to spend his remaining years. Thank you to everyone at the Avalon for loving our dad and giving him the joy of feeling loved.

My sister and brother-in-law both required care beginning the same month after multiple stays in hospitals and short term care facilities. Avalon was able to put them together in a spacious well appointed room with a roll in shower. The facility was always spotless and their personalized care plan was followed to the letter. The management really cares about their residents and the staff is amazing. Our entire family so appreciates knowing our loved ones were in the best of care.

My father lived here for the last 7 weeks of his life. It was such a difficult decision for my mother to place him in a memory care place, but his care had become too difficult for us to handle. Avalon went above and beyond. The care my father received in his final days was more than we could have done. The staff and director are amazing, loving people. This facility deserves 10 stars. My husband was complicated case. He had Lewy Body Dementia and it was difficult. The management and staff were very kind and understanding of his disease. Matthew went above and beyond my expectations time and time again. The staff were always willing to do whatever what they could to keep my husband comfortable.

My father was a resident that needed a lot of care and attention. The staff, from management to caregivers, was patient and communicative with us as we were unable to visit inside the facility due to Covid. We were updated on how he was doing regularly. When we were able to visit him outside, he seemed well cared for and was calm and relaxed. It was easy to arrange transportation for dr visits. I am grateful for the care and support we received from Avalon and they did their very best to help us through a difficult journey. I would highly recommend this facility.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and knew exactly what my family was going through. As soon as you walk in the door, you are treated with compassion and a genuine friendliness. Not only was the staff incredibly accommodating, the facilities are top of the line. It doesnt feel like youre walking into a sterilized environment, devoid of any human presence. It is quite the opposite. While I dont wish for anyone to need to visit, I would whole-heartedly recommend Avalon to anyone that needs this kind of care. You will be met with top of the line care by top of the line staff.

My father was in a memory care wing of a different facility when it became apparent that he was the victim of inhumane neglect.It was critical he be moved out at once. Avalon Memory Care was recommended by his hospice company and everyone worked quickly so we could have him transferred. He has been at Avalon Memory Care in Carrollton, Texas only 10 days now. Incredible facility and staff that truly understands what you are going through. I toured many and had other experiences, this Place is first cabin, as my dad would say. They are incredibly respectful, the place is clean, and they care about family and elderly loved one.

Im a nurse that has taken care of many patients in this location. I love the changes theyve made this last year to get patients more involved in activities. I recommend them to anyone in the area when I get the chance. The owner is hands on and was even in there playing guitar for them today!

My mother was a resident of Avalon Carrollton during the last 2 years of her life. I chose this facility based on several factors, including proximity to my home, but especially due to the compassionate nature of the entire staff, management and owner. The facility is well maintained and comfortable for both residents and their loved ones. I was very pleased with the care my mom received and would recommend Avalon to others needing this type of facility for a family member.
