My mom has lived at Parkwood for 4 years and I can’t not say enough about how wonderful it has been! They have a long tenured staff who personally get to know the residents and their families which just goes to show they care. The ability to communicate with them and their willingness to assist goes beyond what you’d expect. The Parkwood facilities are very nice and well maintained. They offer a variety of daily activities on property for residents to get involved, offering social and active opportunities to their residents creating a fun and healthy environment. I feel confident my mom is safe and has been able to live her best life at Parkwood!

Parkwood is an amazing facility! My partner and I have been doing ALOT of research on all facilities in the metroplex as my mom has decided to move from Arkansas to Texas to be closer to us. I researched and visited places for months. Parkwood ended up in my top 2 of all those researched because the staff is fantastic (shout out to Kim), the residents are very friendly and happy, the apartments are very spacious compared to most, they offer all the requirements set by the Veterans Aid and Attendance benefit program and the price is a great value. If you are looking for an Independent Living environment that also meets the needs of the before mentioned then this should certainly be on your list to visit!

My family and I have had a very good relationship with Parkwood Independent Living since approximately 2014. Parkwood has been the place our Mother calls her home. Her home has provided her with security, friends, and an absolutely wonderful staff who really do love their residents! We have always felt comforted by their caring nature and the way they make our Mom feel, safe, warm, secure and loved. There is a wide array of activities offered here, and the activities director herself is tailor made for her position. She thinks out of the box and comes up with ideas and activities that are truly fun for all. We are sure our Mother has done more activities than she would normally have chosen to do because of the directors caring influence in her life. The entire staff are so kind and helpful with our Mother/Grandmother and all residents, especially when they are older and need more attention like in our case. We have come to learn that each staff member are all special people with great team spirits. When our Mother moved into Parkwood she was 92 years old. A few months ago our Mom turned 100 years old! Beside her blessed luck and good genes, Parkwood Independent Living has supported our Mother through some very good times and very difficult times. She survived the pandemic by following all of Parkwood’s rules, which they posted frequently throughout Covid on their website and communicated to all their residents daily. The beautiful buildings are nestled in and behind HEB hospital in a beautiful park like setting. Many of our Mother’s Drs are nearby. Because they are so close our Mom is still able to take the bus rides offered to her Dr. appointments and shopping. Right next door is Parkwood Senior Living Healthcare for more intense care or rehabilitation if that becomes necessary after an illness. Our Mom has been there to stay in rehab once and then she returned “home” to her apartment at Parkwood Independent Living. If you’re looking for a wonderful place to live for yourself or a family member, make sure Parkwood is on your list of places to check out. You won’t need to search long if you go here first!

I have lived here for five years and feel very safe. The people are very nice and I enjoy living here very much. The staff is very nice and helpful. The food is good and I enjoy games like Canasta, Mahjong, Scrabble, and many more. Overall, I have had a very good experience. Parkwood is my home.

Our Mom loves Parkwood and so do we! When it was time to move Mom into a retirement community, we looked at 6-8 different options. Interestingly enough, Parkwood was the first community we visited and the one we ultimately selected. It feels just like home to Mom! The Parkwood Staff couldnt be more caring or accommodating. Fast forward two years and the arrangements they have made to take care of all the residents during this COVID period have been above and beyond anything we could have asked or expected. Parkwood has brought us complete piece of mind and given Mom the golden years experience she hoped to receive. Parkwood gets 5 stars from us--

I have lived at Parkwood Retirement for almost three years. Coming here was an excellent choice and has more than met my needs for this time of life. Especially going from one stage to another. For example, I recently sold my car, but I have comfort in knowing that Parkwood offers transportation. The people here are all very friendly. Everyone I meet is a new friend. The staff are also especially good at what they do. I always tell other people about Parkwood! Definitely 5 Stars!

We didnt want the nursing home atmosphere and this is it. Each apartment enters from a courtyard gazebo with beautiful trees and has a private patio. The kind and friendly staff are always available so safety and concern are no issues for us. Kim is my favorite as she goes above and beyond her caring nature to provide not only for the residents but family members as well. A++ in my book and my mothers! If you are looking for a caring friendly safe environment without that hospital feel for a loved one this is it!

It has been 8 years since Ema, my sister-in-law, moved to Parkwood after the passing of her husband. We had a place for Ema with us, but she wanted to maintain her independence and have her own place. Parkwood was her choice and she (and we) could not be happier. She loves her neighbors and friends there. The staff is always there to give needed support when family is out of town or unavailable. Because Ema was in the Parkwood Community, she got her Covid Vaccination before her brother and I can get ours. Mark, Kim, Lane and the rest of the staff are just a delight. They call every resident by name and when we see them in the breeze way, they address us with our names.Oh, and the breeze way is really special. She can sit and get sun in a socially distance way or in private on her own screened porch.Parkwood will be my choice when I want to leave our home.

My mom absolutely LOVES her new home at Parkwood. The staff is wonderful, always ready to help with anything you need. Its a very friendly environment, just like one big family. Food is good and there is plenty of it and there are lots of activities to choose from. I love Parkwood too, because my Mom is safe, secure and enjoying life.

My Mother moved to Parkwood 2 years ago after her house become too much for her. After researching several Independant Living facilities, we decided that Parkwood was the best choice. Mark, Kim and the staff are so caring. They know the names of every resident and go out of their way to ensure that each one is a priority.I am amazed how Mark Gustafson (Ex. Dir) treats each resident like they are the most important person in the Parkwood Community.He goes above and beyond to care for each resident no matter the time of day.My family definitely made the right choice when we decided to move my Mom to Parkwood.

My mom lived at Parkwood for two years and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the residents and the staff. Mom looked at many communities before deciding on Parkwood. When we visited the community the residents were active and out doing things and they were so friendly, she instantly felt at home. Mom moved from out of state and everyone was so welcoming and made her transition much easier. Residents invited her to events and stopped by to welcome her to Parkwood. The staff knows the residents and their families on a first name basis. They even knew some of my moms favorite treats and would make sure and surprise her with them. From the moment you walk in the door, its easy to recognize that Parkwood is not just a community, it is a family. We are so appreciative of everything the staff and residents did to make mom feel at home.

It came highly recommended from friends because of the amazing staff, activities, meals, and accommodations. We LOVE Parkwood Retirement Community and are extremely happy with the care provided to the Independent residents and families. We highly recommend stopping by for a look. My parents moved to Parkwood almost one year ago. We have been so pleased with the facility and staff. They have made mom and dad.feel welcome and right at home. The staff go out of their way to care for the residents. Service, care and safety are top priorities. When the pandemic began, they immediately implemented health and safety precautions to keep the residents safe. Parkwood Retirement Center and the staff have created a loving, safe, and nurturing environment for my parents. Married 71 years, Parkwood has been a haven especially during this frightening pandemic. Mark Gustafson and his staff have taken every precaution to keep the residents safe and yet have still provided personal connection through careful food delivery. Mark has consistently shown genuine concern for residents well-being, even arranging for my mom to receive new jigsaw puzzles each week. I miss seeing my parents in person but have had a true sense of their safety at Parkwood.

I am writing this survey to honor my Mother, Mary O. Stevens, who lived at Parkwood for about 12 years. Mother loved her apartment and being with her friends, many of whom lived there as well. The staff there was always friendly, compassionate, patient and willing to assist Mother above and beyond our expectations. The Director, Mark Gustafson, could not have been any more of a gentleman and friend to Mother. I would highly recommend Parkwood for your loved one.

My experience with Parkwood Independent Living has been 100% positive! My sister had a fall in an parking lot that resulted in a very serious break to her leg. She could not return to her home due to the stairs she would need to climb. Needing time for recuperation we looked at Parkwood in Bedford as a temporary place to heal.From the very first we were delighted with the lovely dining room and outstanding meals. There were so many fun activities offered each day that she could attend in her wheelchair and later her walker. At first she was not sure she would fit in with the older clientele but found everyone welcoming and eager to be a friend. Now after a years residence she does not want to live anywhere else! We have found that the directors take a personal interest in each resident and the residence is very well managed. I heartily endorse the excellent atmosphere and care found at Parkwood Independent Living.

Our parents moved from out of state into the Parkwood Community in 2011. It was such a comfortable atmosphere for them to adapt to after making a long distance move. The staff at Parkwood was welcoming and accommodating. Over these years they have continued to be attentive to meeting needs. There is a real homey feel to living there. Friendships develop and a sense of family has formed.

Lovely retirement place for senior citizens and people with end-term conditions are also accepted. Very quiet with natural surroundings. Staff is excellent and very courteous from the Top management to the chef. Everyone knows every other persons name and always check on each other. Its not very new but every good thing about it surpasses its aesthetics.

My mom has lived at Parkwood for over 10 years. From the very beginning, she was treated with care and respect. The staff are more like family and play such an important role in the lives of the residents. Parkwood meets the needs of each of their residents. Whether its taking them to appointments, having regular social activities, or just doing their daily check-in on residents, the care shows through in everything they do. I feel so lucky to have found this place for my mom - and she agrees as well! Thank you to each and everyone at Parkwood for taking such good care of my mom.

My experience with Parkwood has been amazing! From meeting the Staff, to taking a Tour, to moving in - the experience has been wonderful! Mark and his Staff are very friendly and helpful. I have been amazed at all the activities they have each day, that my Dad cant even get to all of them! My Dad is able to have special family meals, from time to time - and we all love getting to eat there with him. They really have so much to offer from their friendliness, to the activities, and the outside trips they take have really been impressed with the way they have handled everything during the Covid situation! They have really gone above and beyond! Making sure everyone is cared for while they are in their rooms, and also hand delivering their meals everyday. Even making sure they have games to play, and activities to doWe have been very pleased, and would recommend you check them out!

We moved my Mom into Parkwood over a year ago, I cant even find words to explain how grateful we are to the staff. They work tirelessly around the clock. You will see the ED onsite at all hours of the day making sure all the residents are well taken care of. Kim, the Community Relations Director is always quick to answer any questions and assist with any concerns my Mom may have. Moving her to Parkwood was the best decision we have made

My grandmother and now my mom lives here! Very nice place. You still get your independence of having your own apartment, privacy. Many events, option of have breakfast and lunch in the dining room or brought to your room! My mom wants to buy her apartment so I can be next . Highly recommeneded, staff is great! Kudos to Mark!

My family and I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience that my Mom had at Parkwood. The apartments are roomy and well laid out, the food was great, the grounds are lovely, and the people are amazing. The residents down-to-earth and friendly and are always ready to help other residents as they are able.When it comes to the staff, there is simply no possible way that any other independent living community could have a better staff than Mark, Kim, Layne, Carlos, Wayne, Margaret, Reggie and all the others. They set the tone for the caring and loving environment at Parkwood and their devotion to the care and well being of the residents is unmistakable.I highly recommend Parkwood Independent Living to anyone looking for a new home for their older family members.

My wife helped her mother move into Parkwood almost a year ago and we both have been more than pleased with her experience. Mom has been very happy with the meals, received quick responses to anything she needs from maintenance, enjoys the various events and social opportunities, and loves the staff! We believe the staff really does care about the residents. They know their names and engage with them on a personal level. My wife can text or call Parkwood anytime and get a quick response. Everything from the dining room to the grounds are clean, well kept and attractive. Even though its independent living, Parkwood is providing alot of care, comfort and security to their residents!

We looked at tons of places for my mother and her husband. Parkwood was our final choice and we dont regret that decision. The staff is amazing and truly care about all of their residents. They communicate with me often, know every resident by name, and provided me with much needed guidance during some difficult times. Mom and her husband couldnt be happier! This place is great.

I looked at many senior living apartments for my mother before visiting Parkwood. The feeling that I had as I entered the lobby gave me hope that my mother would be happy in this warm and friendly environment. The residents were actually out of their apartments, chatting in the lobby, playing games in the common areas, having what seemed to be a good time. It wasnt the sterile environment that I felt from the other places I visited. I had a lot of hope that the staff would be as warm and friendly as the residents and they are. I didnt know what I was actually looking for but I knew that I had found it after my first visit. My mother has been living at Parkwood for a little over a year now and she tells how it feels like home to her. Thats piece of mind for me.

From her first night in her apartment, Mom felt at home. She loves the meals and said, These folks know how to cook the food I like! The buildings and grounds are always clean and well maintained. Staff go out of their way to provide an environment of wellness, acceptance and security. Cant say enough about how lovely the residents are-some very dear people who will be lifelong friends.
