I lived at Independence village for about 6 years. The first 2 years were great, but then it became a place of gossip and bullying.,They cannot keep a management team /employees for more then one year. I left because many people were getting physically sick. The building had some really large issues with mold. My rent was largely increased on my apartment and when I talked to others, no one had the same issue with recertification , I had a lot of deductions but know one could give me a straight answer. I went from a $4 increase to an all time high of $63 for a 1 bdrm apartment .The highest was $9 until the last year. I asked to have it taken a look by the manager, something was wrong and I still had thousands of dollars in MEDICAL THAT WAS PAID OR i was paying on.. They tried to raise my rent by $63. I never had a problem when a kind man by the name of Terry was the assistant manager. Also Management turns a blind eye too the residents that sit in the center of the main lobby harassing people and in their words “actively recruiting new people “ into their growing. group of bullies. Only to be stabbed in the back and stories told. Some was miscommunication about someone that didn’t want to be a part of ithe group and wanted to feel free to do things or come outside of their apartments. It is a hostile environment for most residents that are not in the “click “ that I previously spoke of. The manager has her favorites and treats them as such, especially if they are male and they remain nice to her. Neither Manager or current assistant have had any qualms about telling residents out loud about issues with Corporate and how unhappy they are right now. Upper management made residence shut down the chapel taking everything religious out (crosses, hymn books, bibles and more. The chapel has been a place for people to go to because they had no way to get to a church outside due to health or transportation. They use to hold live services. The chapel has been there for over 36 years! Unfortunately for residents who can’t afford to get out like me are atuck because the one good thing is they are slightly less money still them other places! The place looks like an assisted living or nursing home, with no paintings and bare walls and dirty floors. I hope someday soon they can find a manager that has some empathy for people and that they will make people feel at home and not fear to talk to management and actually are taken seriously. My advice; Think twice, just go for a little bit and take in what you here and see.

I have not lived in an apartment in more than 23 years. I love it here, great neighbors and staff. I have lived here for a year now, there are activities and get togethers that are fun and social. The management and maintenance team are doing a great job on resident interactions and getting maintenance done. Thank you for a great community.

I cried for 30 days because I had never lived in an apartment before. I've been there since April 2025 and I love it. Everyone is very nice and you don't have to leave the property to talk to someone. Yes, there are some issues as there is with every place you live; but I guarantee they are working very hard to take care of every issue. I wouldn't live anywhere else. I appreciate the people who live there and I appreciate the staff. Thank you

When I moved in was really nice, But my only complaint is that it's NOT getting cleaned Matt's at doors haven't been cleaned in the 3 years I've been here 3rd floor not getting cleaned it's become very gloomy yes bed bugs I know that their trying but literally it needs the floors mopped. Downstairs spills front spill elevator is nasty. . I'm moving but I'd like to see a change in the cleanliness of this property. Handle rails need cleaned windows going out the door . It seem like second floor gets the attention . .it's embarrassing to bring family to such a un clean place. Maybe 2 people cleaning instead of one. We got new furniture hasn't been even dusted. .there are good things people are kind and helpfull There's really good hot meals once a day. I pray all is good and things change for the better. . The cleaning person needs management to check on her work .

My husband and I are very happy here! It's very quiet we have the option on whether we choose to socialize with other tenants or not. The staff has been supportive, professional, knowledgeable, and kind. We are so pleased to have staff of such caliber. We have been here for 4 months & continue to love every minute of it. The residents are very nice and welcoming yet allow us our privacy. So glad to be a part of this community

I'm very happy here. My only issues is the smell of cigarettes in my apt. People are friendly people all try to help if you need it. It's safe quit.

I have been bullied 3 times. Assist manager is rude. Yells at people & talks down to people. Things only get fixed if the feel it is necessary.
