A beautiful, cozy community with so many sweet people! It’s in a great area close to everything you need and the river is very relaxing. They recently switched from assisted to independent living only and there are renovations taking place to give the buildings a new look. We love it here!

My dear father-in-law Bruno Massey spent his last two years at this wonderful place first in his own apartment and then as his health deteriorated he was moved into the assisted living area. He became family and was happy there till Jesus called him home! Thank yall

My mom was here for the last few years of her life. Mom had dementia really bad. They worked with me and helped me with my mom because I had to work. I dont know what I would have done without them.

To all who are interested in finding a caring living facility for a loved one, please take the time to read my review. Even though it may be lengthy, it will definitely aide you in your decision making process. My husband and I moved to eastern TN approximately 5 years ago from the Tampa Bay area of FL. It had been our dream to semi retire there for a long time. While living in FL, I had a certified German Shepherd therapy dogwhich brought me much gratitude visiting a dozen of assisted living facilities in the state of FL. While doing this, I found many elderly, not being properly cared for. Either being neglected or totally ignored. Most of the facilities even had a fowl odor of urine. We received a phone call one night from my mother in law who lived in Athens TN. She had called 911 and was rushed to the ER. We immediately took her into our home, which was in Wears Valley TN. From there, she required heart surgery. We took care of her until she was well enough to get back on her feet. She wanted a place to call her own after she recovered, but we knew it would be a bad decision to let her live that far away from us in her own home.We did our research looking into facilities which we felt would be a family like environment, which should she need further assistance, she could be moved to the assisted area of the facility. After she lived on her own there for one year, she did nothing but brag about how wonderful and caring every one who both worked there, as well as lived there were.In the meantime, since both my husband and I and my mother in law were very comfortable with Mountain Brook, we knew the time would come for us to move back to FL to care for my Mother. Three months ago, we moved back to FL. In the interim, my mother in law was diagnosed with COPD. It was time for her to be moved to the assisted area of the facility. She had a difficult time catching her breath most of the time, and need assistance with her daily living. From that time on, every single member of Mountain Brook kicked it up a notch and was communicating with us on a daily basis as to her health issues. She was constantly being transported from the hospital to the facility, due to low oxygen levels and retention of fluid. During her stay in the hospital, the staff consistently visited her as well as purchased items out of their caring hearts. We offered to pay for those items, but it would not be accepted. When she finally made it back to Mountain Brook, out of the goodness of their hearts, and on their own time, we couldnt believe they decorated her new room, with some of her items from the independent part of the facility.Approximately 3-4 weeks ago, my Mother in law made the decision, she no longer wanted to be transported back and forth to the hospital. From there, she was cared for with the help of Hospice. She passed shortly after at Mountain Brook, which were her wishes. As my husband and I flew back to take care of the funeral arrangements, we laughed and cried with the caring people who worked there. The office manager Diane Hall spoke with us and said MOM was part of Our Family. Christina is the young lady who answered all of our phone calls, which I have to tell you.... were on a daily basis, LOL. She visited with MOM regularly and even sent us pictures of them together with her phone! She even purchased a few house dresses out of her own pocket and refused to let us pay her! The nurses were so awesome too, and communicated with us on a daily basis as to her condition! While in TN making funeral arrangements, we were blessed with meeting the pastor and his wife at Mountain Brook, Glenn and Cam Shiflett. We sat down with them both for hours while we gave them the information we wanted to share at her service. The service was done right there at Mountain Brook and was beautiful. Both Dave and I love you all from the bottom of our hearts and thank God every day for blessing us with each and every one of you!Thank you for treating people the way you would want to be treated.Sincerely,Nancy and Dave Alexander

Wonderful people with a common mission of powerful community support and connection. The staff are all on the same page; that of helping people to feel secure, connected, cared for, and live meaning in their lives. I have had the experience of living there for an extended time and the people work tirelessly and have created an extremely beautiful, restful, so positive environment which supports peace and personal as well as community growth. You are such a special place in a world that needs many more such places. Love you Cam, Glenn, your dad, and all of your wonderful staff.
