Lovely community with welcoming staff from top to bottom. The 30 acre campus including a beautiful chapel separate it from other assisted living communities.

One of the blessings of journaling for the past 33 years has been the opportunity to look back and remember what was going on in my life at a particular time. As I was remembering what was going on this time last year, I found myself feeling extremely grateful for the many ways in which The Columbia Presbyterian Community helped my wife, Ruth Ann, and me to make preparations for the move to our new home. Last year at this time, Alisha Knight was helpful in assisting us navigate some very challenging obstacles. So many others have helped us and we are grateful to CPC. We are glad to be home!

This posting is specifically rating JASMINE PLACE, memory care unit at Columbia Presbyterian Community in Lexington County outside of Columbia. As the daughter and primary care giver of my dad, I have first hand knowledge and years of experience seeing daily the care the staff at Jasmine Place provided my father as well as other residents. Director of Jasmine Place Amy Walker and her staff provide professional, kind, compassionate loving care to their residents as well as family members. Jasmine is a safe and lovely home environment for the residents. Alzheimer’s is such a horrible disease and to see the decline in my dad’s cognitive abilities and related health issues was only bearable because of Amy and her staff’s care and the safe and loving environment they’ve established there. Forever I will be grateful to Amy Walker, Pearl Johnson, Melissa Houghtings, Jameelah and Toni for making the last few years of my dad’s life happy, comfortable and filled with love and kindness . Those who choose a career caring for our elderly and sick family members are truly angels on earth. My life too has been enriched by these incredible caregivers.

My father was in Jasmine Place Memory Care Unit for about four years. The staff was amazing and treated my dad as if he were their father/granddad. I got to know several of the residents and their families. Visits and input from families were encouraged. Some of the residents, including my dad, sometimes had some difficult behaviors due to their dementia, but the staff never lost their tempers and were pros at redirecting the residents when they were upset. When problems arose, the staff listened and worked with our family to find solutions. My dad died recently, and the staff filled his last days with love and reverence. They are my heroes!

The staff at Jasmine Place are incredible. Their care and devotion to each resident is exceptional. Our family will always be grateful for the way they helped our mother find a sense of purpose, belonging, and comfort. This level of dedication and support is also extended to the family as they navigate challenges and work to find new ways of connecting with and embracing their loved ones.

The staff at the Jasmine Unit is phenomenal. The head nurse Amy is the most caring person I’ve seen work with Alzheimer’s patients. She models for the nurses that work there, and they are a reflection of her leadership. I am so grateful to her and all the caretakers there.

In April 2021, our family made the difficult decision to move our mother to assisted living at PCSC. Given the early onset of dementia, we believed this was the best choice for her well-being”and, in time, it proved to be exactly that. She quickly bonded with a neighbor, a fellow resident ten years her senior, who became like another sister to her. For several years, Mom’s condition remained stable. However, in 2024, we began noticing a gradual decline in her mental state. By July, the staff requested a family meeting. It was during this emotional and heart-wrenching conversation where it was suggested that Mom needed to transition to the memory care unit. No one wanted to admit how far the disease had progressed. It was painful for all of us. But the PCSC team was focused on preserving Mom’s dignity and ensuring her safety. She had begun to wander, become disoriented, and had experienced multiple falls. Once again, we were faced with a tough decision. Mom has now been living in Jasmine Place for a year. As her eldest daughter and primary caregiver, I can say without hesitation that moving her to memory care was not only the best decision”it was the only one as her condition has continued to decline. The care and compassion she receives from her support team in Jasmine place is extraordinary. While I continue to be an active part of her life, I have deep gratitude for the professionals who assist with her medications, daily routines, activities, and above all, who provide her with genuine love and kindness every single day. If you find yourself in a similar situation with a loved one, I encourage you not to let your heart alone guide the decision. Trust the experience, wisdom, and compassion of professionals who walk this journey every day. Their support can make all the difference”not just for your loved one, but for your entire family.

This home is hands down the best one have ever seen. ™ It was spotless full of life and have such a positive atmosphere. Residents were genuinely enjoying themselves. The food looked delicious and every single staff member from the receptionist to the CNA' s, nurses, doctors, maintenance, crew and janitors were kind of attentive and clearly passionate about what they do.You could feel the care in every corner of the building.

We were in the process of possibly moving my mother to assisted-living and she had a health incident that put her in the hospital July 6th, which pushed us to make the decision. I’m not happy that my mother had to go through this, but I am grateful that we decided to move forward with assisted-living. After talking with Director of Marketing, Alisha at Presbyterian Communities of SC I knew this was the place for my mom. Alisha, along with many, many others made this process much easier, being so professional, not to mention move so quickly. Mom is in her beautiful new room in AL & we have been very pleased. As expected it will take her a little time to get adjusted to her new life, but she seems happy. She said the food has been good & church services was beautiful yesterday. I’m so thankful & happy my mom is safe and not in her home alone anymore. Thank you PCSC°°°°

I moved to Columbia Presbyterian Communities in December 2023 and have found it to be so welcoming. Everyone is friendly and caring. I love my apartment. The convenience to I-20 and Highway 378 make my travels to run errands so easy. It is a beautiful and private location on the Saluda River. I feel I will get the best care here as I continue to age.

Presbyterian is great for those who are pretty independent and don't need much assistance, and there are some lovely people there. Nevertheless, if your loved one has a degenerative disease like Parkinsonsn or dementia, this is probably not the place. They strive to push residents towards independence and provide limited assistance for those who need things like bathing and toileting assistance, because they label these"out of their limits for assisted living." I should also note that my dad almost died from sepsis because of their improper wiping. One other major issue we saw in the year my dad lived there is that they often got dad's medicine wrong, either the wrong pill, wrong dose, or wrong time. Thank goodness dad is lucid and could correct them but sometimes they wouldn't even give him the correct meds when he, or I, told them they were wrong.

We had a wonderful experience with the Presbyterian Home in Lexington SC and recommend them without reservation. My 96 y.o. mother was a resident in assisted living and for a short time in the health care wing. The staff was wonderful to my mother! Everyone was genuinely dedicated to caring for their residents and patients. Her admission to the facility was expertly and compassionately handled by Leigh Ann. A special thanks to Patricia Beamer, Reather & all the staff on the assisted living wing! All the staff that cared for her in the medical wing helped us through a most difficult time, many thanks!!

My wife has been in the memory facility for more than one year. I have been extremely pleased throughout the time. The administration and staff are responsive, reliable, and friendly. The staff members in Jasmine House are wonderful--well-trained, warm, patient, and helpful. There has been low turnover, which speaks volumes about the overall climate for staff and residents. Although it was a very difficult decision to place her in a residential facility, I know that she is in good hands!

I was told (oh everyone has a cell phone ) well some dont. I will update this more as I go. This is the 1st rehabilitation faculty I've ever known not let somebody have you phones in the Room They don't provide people with phones....... Update after I got my mom a phone this place really did a great job with my mom and I'm very happy with them and I would recommend them to anyone they do a great job

My 91 year old Mother has lived at Lexington Presbyterian Community for 7 years. I visit weekly and almost every visit Mom comments on how wonderful it is. A few commenters expressed concern about laughter and happy people in the halls. Is that a bad thing? Would they prefer employees with low morale and unhappy residents? What's wrong with employees enjoying their job while they get their work done? I find the facility clean and pleasant and the employees helpful and friendly. They take good care of Mom. The occasional sounds in the hall are not at all loud or disruptive in my opinion. It comforts Mom to know there are people around.
