My mom has been a resident since September 2017 - 5 years. The Oaks is a cozy small community nestled on Daniel Island. New Director Lynne Moore is great - accessible, personable, understands the business from all aspects which is critical to each residents' success. Assisted Living is a whole new world to navigate for me, but I for one a very thankful for Lynne and her team at The Oaks.

Summit Place of Daniel Island is in a great location. Very nice atmosphere inside and out. Their are some really good people who will take fine care of your loved one. They offer plenty of activities at the facility and away. The food served is really good. However, if possible, I highly recommend taking your loved one to a private primary care physician. They will receive much better medical care.

I recently found myself searching for an assisted living facility in the Charleston SC area that could immediately accommodate a relative that was a stroke victim for a few months. I live some 500 miles north of Charleston so internet searches were a must.I was able to narrow my choices to three facilities. The contact at one facility, Summit Place of Daniel Island, Charleston, SC, deserves special recognition. Although they did not have any opening in the time frame required,Mr. Joshua Long was extremely helpful evaluating other facilities I was considering, and doing so in what I considered an extremely professional manor. We went with one of his recommendations.Mr. Long followed up with me via phone and text a few weeks later when his facility had an opening. I couldnt resist taking the opportunity to seek his assistance, guidance in other services needed, e.g., transport, home care, etc. He was more than willing to offer his time and expertise.I highly recommend anyone in search of senior living facilities contact Joshua Long.

My mother moved into Summit Place at the end of May, 2019. The staff made her feel so welcome and at home right away. It has been a big adjustment for her to move from living independently in her own home to assisted living, but the staff has been very patient and loving toward her during this transition. Now she is thriving in her new environment! Her health and mobility have greatly improved and she loves all of the wonderful activities provided by Amy and the many dedicated volunteers. Summit Place has become a true home for my mom. Thank you!

I cant say enough about the staff at Summit, specifically Joshua, for guiding us through the very difficult process of moving my mother. My mothers physician told us he liked Summit the best and now I know why.Joshua gave us so much helpful advice and information. When my mom finally needed to make the move it was a bit of an urgent situation. Joshua was available to us 24, 7 and responded immediately. The team at Summit also made us feel very welcome when we went to visit. We are lucky to have such a great facility on Daniel Island.

Mom has been at The Summit for about 6 weeks and it has been great from the first initial visit. It’s clean and fresh smelling every day I visit. The admin staff and caregivers are amazing and so kind. Longtime employees speaks volumes about This place. Daily Planned Activities and day trips are awesome. We could not have asked for a better place for mom and she feels very much at home. There’s is definitely a lot of DI community involvement which makes it feel even more like home. Thank you all for making the transition so great!

My Mother moved into the Summit Place a year and a half ago – it was a great decision to move Mom to the Summit Place in that the Team there are caring, focused, passionate and overall their attention to my Mother’s needs and care exceeded expectations. Mom enjoyed being at the Summit Place and made some new friends while enjoying activities and celebrations on a regular basis. The building is very clean, light and airy and the rooms are accommodating to the needs of the Residents. The Community at Summit Place is very caring and loving and we always felt Mom was well taken care of. I appreciated all of the hard work the staff did at the Summit Place for my Mother. Thank you.

Summit Place on Daniel Island is a real reasure and the perfect place to care for my 91 year old mother. In 2017 my mom had to deal with two hospital stays (both in the ICU) and 2 stints in a local rehab center. She was released from rehab in January 2018 we took her to our home to continue her recuperation. Right away she was having a very difficult time with recovery. During the following months her health declined significantly and we thought we were going to lose her. My wife and I provided her full time care. The care-giver is often forgotten in the midst of these crises...my wife and I became totally exhausted and frustrated: we felt isolated from the real world. Between March and June 2018 my mom started to improve, so much so that she qualified to receive care outside our home so that we could take a respite. We had volunteered and had a number of interactions with Summit Place over the years and we were pleased that they could care for my mom during our two week respite. When we returned we were refreshed and ready to take mom back home. She, however , had other plans: she wanted to stay a bit longer and indicated that she might want to actually continue living at Summit. We arranged to have her stay another two weeks to decide-she made her final decision to stay in just 3 days!I am writing this review in early April of 2019 so mom has been at Summit 9 months. She would say the same things today as she said when she made her decision to stay last July:* Summit Place felt like home* Summit Place had wonderful activities* Summit place allowed her create and build friendships with her peers* ALL of the Summit place employees were and continue to be caring, respectful and most important to my mom-nice and kind She is treated like a resident rather than a patient! As a result she now has a BETTER relationship with me and my wife because Summit Place had allowed us to act like a famiI feel very comfortable recommending Summit Place and would strongly urge those considering the placement of a loved one in an assisted living community to include Summit Place as a top of the list possibility.

As an Admissions Director myself for a local skilled nursing facility, it has been a pleasure working alongside the team at Summit Place. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive to my inquires about possible referrals, as well as a great help with coordinating past admissions and discharges. I happy to recommend them to families seeking excellent care for their loved ones.

My Mom moved to Summit Place in December 2017. She recently had surgery on her arm and required 24 hour care from her family. The staff and management and Summit Place went far and beyond what you would expect in accommodating my family and care givers during that 8 day period. They offered a respite room for my sister to stay in so that we did not have to rent a motel room and served us meals 3 times a day. My moms birthday occured during this period and we were able to hold a party for her at Summit Place. I just had to share my experience because the other home that she was in in North Carolina would not have been as accommodating. Please seriously consider Summit Place for you or your loved one!

I cannot say enough positive things about Summit Place of Daniel Island. My father recently was a resident there. My sister and I visited several other assisted living facilities in the area but chose Summit Place based upon our own impression from the minute we walked in the door, combined with the professional treatment by Dina, the Sales Counselor. In addition to our experience, we had two unequivocal positive recommendations from friends who had parents live at Summit Place for several years until they passed. They loved the place. It is a small facility, has nicely sized Individual rooms, and the common rooms are light and bright. Importantly, we witnessed smiling faces by both residents and staff from the first visit until our last. Residents seemed to enjoy living there. The staff truly cared about each resident, and current residents welcomed dad with open arms. The food was quite good, and the chef obviously cared that the residents liked what he served, as evidenced by him circulating in the dining room and talking to residents. The activities coordinators, Diana and Cindy, were highly energetic and provided a host of daily activities for residents, including on weekends. Uniquely, students from Bishop England volunteered regularly, and young children from the nearby pre-school provided entertainment for residents. Residents loved interacting with the children, adolescents and watching them perform. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the entire facility (which is in the process of being remodeled to be even nicer), the quality of all the caregivers, the compassion of every employee, and the emphasis on resident safety (each resident wore a pendant around their neck to push if they needed anything or if they fell, and all residents were checked on regularly throughout the day and night). We appreciated that Summit Place could provide different levels of care, depending upon dads changing needs. The nurse, Danielle, was highly skilled, and the facility was well-run. Importantly, there appeared to be little turnover in staff, validating our impression of a workforce that enjoyed their jobs.We knew dad was safe here, and we knew he would be well taken care of until he passed. Ienthusiastically recommend Summit Place of Daniel Island. The bottom line is that Summit Place exceeded our expectations in every way. Im convinced that we couldnt have chosen any place better for dad.

I just had to take the time to write a positive review for the Summit Place of Daniel Island. The decision where to place a loved one after they no longer can live independently is a very difficult one. My family and I visited several area facilities, looking for a special place that gave us the feeling of safety, compassion and friendliness. The Summit Place gave us that impression. We decided to entrust them with the care of our dear father.I cannot tell you enough how special this place is. From the initial conversations and administrative dealings with Dina, to the exceptional and compassionate care of Mike (LPN) and Jean Ann (Med Tech), the Summit Place exceeded our expectations. The Summit Place is a smaller facility with a family feel. The staff is very attentive and encourages the residents to participate in activities, even if they have to personally assist them. The activity schedule is diverse and has activities scheduled throughout the day, including weekends. The facility is exceptionally clean and the residents are happy. They welcomed my father from the moment he arrived and were sure to include him in their dining conversations. It is hard to end this commentary since there are so many wonderful things to say about the Summit Place and its staff. Just know that my family and I speak from decades of professional business experience, and the Summit Place exceeded our standards. We highly recommend the Summit Place of Daniel Island as home for your loved one.

Mom turns 92 sweet years old next weekend and I absolutely cannot think of a more perfect place for her to call home right now! After falling and breaking her hip this past Memorial Day wkend her long, established independence was now over and it was frightening to think what her future quality of life was going to look like. I could never have imagined she would be line dancing, learning to play a new musical instrument, playing basketball and Wii Bowling . . . and Im just naming a few activities on her weekly calendar! She even has a standing weekly apt for her hair and nails;-)) The facility is over half way through their ongoing renovation and is looking great! The staff, med techs and resident assistants are genuine & consistent in their care and attentiveness. Dena, Danielle, Kathy, Lisa, Chris, Diana and Cindy, Silvia, Thelma, Mazell, Kaitlyn, Pam, Carlotta, Louise, Tamara, Debra, Brenda and all the many others that make this place a safe haven for our love ones - THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO AND KEEP SMILING!
