My mom has been here now for a year+ (dementia care). Let me tell you that the staff here treat their residents/patients like family, and maybe even better! If you have a family member suffering* from dementia or alzhimers, you know that you can't just ask, "how are they treating you here, Mom?" *And I'm sorry if you are going through this. I feel your pain. 11/9/25, My son and I stopped to visit my mom. Every one of the staff members here is genuinely kind-hearted and sincerely concerned. Special shout-out to Mercedes, my mom's nurse/caregiver, that afternoon. Her sincerity was so authentic, I could feel how much she cared. We brought my mom a piece of German Chocolate Cake from The Orchard Grille (which I also HIGHLY recommend, and only 1 minute down the road!) While eating it my mother managed to pull out her dentures. I didn't know what to do, I asked the first staff member I saw, and she immediately got Mercedes to come right over--she was so kind and gentle with my mom. Mercedes even asked my mom if she wanted her dentures out (to eat the soft cake--something I didn't even consider, as I do not yet wear dentures). Years ago, I was an EMT-Basic for 2 years. I have been in many reputable hospitals, and I've witnessed some nurses that didn't have a heart when it came to patient "care"--it's not just about fixing the ailment, it's also how you interact with the patient--we are all humans. And good or bad, we ALL deserve to be treated as such! You will not be disappointed here. All of the staff are extremely warm and genuinely caring. Seeing my mom like this isn't easy (you probably know that already, if you're going thru it, too). When I approached the nurse's desk (to get a tissue to blow my nose), the first nurse/staff member (I can't remember her name) that stepped forward to assist me (all of the staff seemed busy at that time), said, "Hi, how are you doing?" Through a few tears I replied, "Not so good." I immediately saw & felt her concern-level for ME change to code-red upon hearing my reply, so I quickly explained that I was "ok" and "it's tough seeing my mom like this," and that I just needed a tissue. All of the staff here are genuine care-givers--meaning they actually enjoy "giving care" and they aren't here just for a paycheck. These are exactly the kinds of warm souls that I hope will be taking care of me someday, when it's my turn. I am so grateful to Smithfield Woods for hiring such an exceptional staff here--you are ALL top-notch, and I love you for caring for my mom like she's your family. That means the world to me, and to my mom's family. Thank you. I am a review-junkie (that is, I read reviews first before trying anything/anywhere) but it was a fast family decision to place my mom into Smithfield Woods. I only recently decided to read others reviews about Smithfield Woods. I cannot comment on billing practices, as that is my brother's department. But one negative reviewer mentioned that Smithfiled Woods was dirty, and he wouldn't let his children crawl around in there. So, I decided to give it a discreet inspection with my eyes and camera (so you don't have to believe my "opinions"). See for yourself. The bathroom is clean. No dust piling up on the dressers. No filth on the floors. Heck, it may have been cleaner than MY house (And I'm much like my mom, a bit of a neat-freak with OCD). If you still aren't sure about placing your loved-one here at Smithfield Woods, then go check them out. Pay attention to how the staff treats the current clients/patients, or even you. Look around for what YOU might consider "unclean." Go ahead. See for yourself. Afterward, read my review of, and visit The Orchard Grille. When you check in, your temperature will be taken via a computer screen (technology...) Covid is still a concern, and hand sanitizer is readily accessible next to the sign in form.

Smithfield Woods is such a beautiful and welcoming place. I am rest assured having told my uncle, who lives out-of-state about this place for my Grandmother. Always so very clean, smells beautiful, friendly staff and absolutely stunning apartment rooms.

Love it here! My Aunt is extremely happy here! Staff and residents are great! Easy to express my concerns and the activities and the director of activities Diane is the very best!!! I am so fortunate to leave here each day after visiting and feel comfortable and confident she is safe and being taken care of.

Toured Smithfield Woods and it ticked off all the boxes my mom was looking for. We couldn’t believe all we would be getting for such a great price. The renovations/updates are incredible. Great place, great location. Jessica was a huge help showing us around and showing all Smithfield Woods had to offer.

We took a tour looking for my mother-in-law. She lived 2 streets down and so putting her somewhere she felt comfortable was a plus. We really were impressed with the facility. Residents were very friendly as well. We looked at the studio deluxe appt and were very impressed with the room. Now it's over to my in laws to show here the pics

From the moment I started looking for the right place for my mom, I felt the warmth and the can-do effort from the staff at Smithfield Woods. They were flexible and helpful every step of the way. They understood that this was an incredibly difficult step for my mom, but also for me, and provided some very comforting photos in the first few days when I was so worried about her adjustment. After only two days, my mom started coming out of her room and now attends everything. She tells me she has “no complaints” and that she’s made “so many friends!” I’m so glad I chose Smithfield Woods.

My mom been there for 3yrs now was great at the beginning. Now she is in memory care ,started off good .But very understaffed, and it shows with the care of there patients. This is were they need more help and there not getting it.But trust me were paying for it.This needs to be taking care of.Or you will losing more patients.

This community use to be so great. With this new company that took over after Brookdale, it all went down hill. I feel terribly bad for staff and residents. This new company just cares about the bottom dollar. My grandmother has been there for a couple of years and it has gotten worst and worst everyday especially now that covid19 has entered the building.

We couldn’t be happier than we are with Smithfield Woods for our mom. Our mom moved into Smithfield Woods in the midst of COVID. There have been no cases because of the fabulous protocol followed. She is so happy there. From Management to staff they are attentive and loving to her. Everything they do is for the well-being of its residents. They have been working tirelessly. They keep the family informed with up to date daily emails. The building (Which by the way is beautiful has been recently redecorated with new furniture) and her apt is kept spotlessly clean. The personal care they are giving mom is second to none. We are now visiting safely outside and this is working extremely well. If you are considering a safe, loving, organized, clean place for mom or dad...please give Smithfield Woods a look. I highly recommend.

I don't know where to begin or with who to mention. The first day I visited Smithfield Woods I knew this was the place for my aunt. She (and I) now have an extended family. I can't say enough about each and every person there. The care, compassion, concern and thoughtfulness is their daily focus.

My Mom moved here about six months ago. The first day we met with the staff we knew this was the right place for her. Mom has always been the kind of person that kept to herself, but not anymore. She is now in a book group and is engaging in many new activities. She has made some lovely new friends whom she sees everyday. The staff here are wonderful!! Their kind and gentle ways are what we feel has made Mom more at home. We can't thank you enough for all that you do.

My mom recently moved here. She is engaged all day long doing activities like bingo, card games, art projects and cooking. They have entertainment as well as exercise classes and movies in the theater. They have a bus that takes residents on scenic rides and restaurant trips. She's thriving here!!

Time to stop shopping around...if you're looking for great memory care or assisted living in the Smithfield RI vicinity, make the phone call! Three of our parents, aunt/uncle, and friends have resided here. No doubt, you will experience an outstanding visit/tour with Alyson, their Director of Community Relations! The rest is easy because the staff will help you every step of the way. They are approachable regarding any concern you might have. Too many over-the-top staff members to mention here; bus driver, chef, maintenance, activities, reception, housekeeping, nurses, CNA's to name a few. It is obvious that Angela Hebert, the Executive Director, models a positive attitude to the staff and residents. Her high standards and spirit is contagious.
