I went to visit a friend at Bellingham at West Chester. They showed me around. I thought the place was really nice. It has a lot of history too. They have a building called washington's tavern that’s actually part of the original farmhouse. We had lunch at the cafe and I got a flatbread that was made fresh. It was really good. After that we went to a happy hour. They had live music and everything. My friend introduced me to Kelley, Gina, and Erica from the activities department. They were really nice and made sure everyone was having fun. My friend is really happy living there and I can see why. If I ever needed a place like this in the future I would definitely consider living there

My mother in law recently moved to PA from another state and we moved her into Bellingham. At 91 she was understandably apprehensive about the change. From day one she easily eased into the transition from living alone in her home to her own apartment. Before we moved her in we thought she may not socialize or even eat at the restaurant. We attribute her seamless transition to several factors. Bellingham has a very helpful staff, the residents who are out and about are very friendly, and the food in the little restaurant she truly enjoys. Honestly, every time we visit she thanks us for the move into Bellingham. We know we helped her make the right decision

This is a great place! Everyone is so kind and welcoming. Every time you walk down the hallway, people are always saying hello and asking how you're doing. It makes it feel like home. The food is delicious and there are always so many fun things to do. My favorites are the trivia and cooking groups. They're always a great time! They also put on wonderful parties, so there's always something to look forward to. What really makes this place special is the people. Cheryl got in touch with me very soon after I moved in and her cheerfulness and enthusiasm further resolved my decision to move in. So many of the staff are cheerful, and willing to help. Since moving in, Cheryl has contacted me several times asking if there is anything she can do regarding moving in and getting settled. In a couple of months I’ll be moving my mom to Bellingham. She hasn’t been very excited or agreeable about leaving her home and losing some of her independence, so finding a place that would be the right fit was challenging and stressful. Bellingham made the choice really easy. The environment, location, and vibe at Bellingham really fit my Mom’s needs and personality. But what really made the biggest impact was Bellingham’s Director, Donna. She had a way of really understanding where my mom was at in her journey and also where I was at, as a daughter trying to help an aging parent. She has such a calm, supportive, and understanding presence that just made me feel really at ease and comfortable that my Mom would be in great hands.

UPDATE: My mom has been in Bellingham's Memory Care Unit for over a year now. During this last year they have made some positive changes with the nursing staff and aides that help take care of our mom. They created a new position, a Memory Care Coordinator, which added greatly to my mom's care. Mike's arrival has made a significant difference in the overall communication at Bellingham. He is so efficient and happy to help with any individual requests and issues that may arise. You can tell that Mike, the aides and nursing staff really love and care about all of the residents. Honestly, it's a mutual feeling because we love everyone who lives and works there as well....we are a big family. Given the situation my mom was facing with her declining memory and safety issues, we truly believe our mother is living her best life at Bellingham. She is enjoying the attention and socialization she is receiving and we are able to sleep at night knowing she is safe and happy. I first toured Bellingham about a year ago as I was beginning to explore options for our 95 year old mom. She had lived independently all her life and was adamant that she did not want to leave the house that she lived in for over 50 plus years. We tried our best to fulfill her wishes but her dementia was progressing and she was no longer safe living alone. Donna Rachlin was the first person I met when I toured Bellingham. She would check in with me from time to time to see how I was doing and how my mom was. I really appreciated those calls because she understood what I was going through which was a huge comfort. We did our due diligence visiting 5 other elderly communities, talked to other people in the same situation, and randomly met people out of the blue who had their loved ones at Bellingham. I knew my original instincts were right. I liked what we saw and felt each time we visited Bellingham at West Chester. You could see that the residents are treated with dignity and love and they look happy! We reached out to Donna a few months ago to discuss the process for having our mom assessed to see where she would do the best with the community at Bellingham. It was determined that she would do best in the Memory Care Unit. We were in communication with both Donna Rachlin and Jane Wood and expressed our concerns of how our mom would adjust because she can be very difficult. They both reassured me that she would be fine and it’s been nothing short of a miracle. My mom has been in the Memory Care Unit 2 full weeks and I can’t tell you how pleased and happy we are that we made the decision we did. I can’t say enough about Donna, Jane, the incredible nursing staff and the ancillary staff! Everyone has treated my mother (and us) with so much kindness. My mother loves everything about her new living arrangement. She is happy and understands that she needs to be there. We love how she is treated and that she is safe. It’s been such a huge relief to not have to worry about her 24 hours a day. Visiting her has also been delightful! There is always somewhere to walk or an activity to partake in somewhere in the community. No one who works there is afraid to give you a hug or hold your hand if they sense that’s what you need. So far, my mother is thriving at Bellingham of West Chester. She spends so much more time of her life now around and engaged with other people and activities. She is no longer isolated and she is enjoying 3 warm delicious meals a day! It’s been amazing and such a blessing that she is doing so well, I only wish we moved her sooner. Thank you to the whole Bellingham of West Chester Community for making this possible!

I find it odd that the majority of these reviews are written by people who just visited the facility and are very impressed. I don't see any recent ones. If you want to know what a facility is really like, talk to the residents who live there. I personally know two people who live there, one in Memory Care and one in Independent Living. The facility has changed hands a couple times in the past year and recently with a substancial price increase, without receiving any additional benefits. Ask about Security, eat at the restaurant and see if you like the food, are the residents happy or just the tour givers? What is the evacuation plan in case of a fire? What time do they lock the main door? You might need to know this if you have a famiy member you want to visit. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Bellingham is a excellent place to live. Safety/accessibility, cleanliness and quality staff are important to me. They met ALL of those aforementioned criteria, above, for me here. The food (dining) is also a Big Plus here. Our Chef, 'Jeff' and the front of the house staff work very hard for the residents and provide many options in terms of selection and dietary needs. We even have an upscale, in-house dining experience (for those interested in a 'dinner out' feel) on Fridays if you want that. The staff here go out of their way to provide their residents with kind assistance and quality programming and services. With the option of Independent and even Assisted Living (or Memory Care) available, your loved ones have multiple avenues available to them/you. Nestled in eastern West Chester (on the border of Malvern), the location is scenic and calming. The trees and parks surrounding us provide beautiful scenery and outdoor opportunities like walking, biking and even feeding fish and turtles. Accessibility and safety are paramount here. The facility provides Welfare Checks and the maintenance staff will assist you with updates (hanging pictures, installing items etc.) in your particular apartment. In-house physician, Dr. Kimberly Feltner, has an outstanding practice here - house calls are even an option should you have to have one. With in-house podiatry, beauty salon, free washing machines, PT/OT, Gym and a housekeeping staff that will provide a plethora of services for you (vacuum, dusting, cleaning etc.) if you need them, you have virtually everything you need here. So grateful we found Bellingham. After seeing many places, we knew right away this is the one for Mom. While location was a key factor in our decision, the staff and residents sealed the deal. Other facilities were located along main busy roads with no green outdoor space. The events and activities here along with the scheduled outings offered will allow my Mom to be independent and become social again while being a part of the community. This started out as we are just looking around seeing what is out there . My Mom’s circumstance sped up the process however, Donna our sales coordinator worked with us to get a unit that works best for Mom. She answered my many questions and walked me through my concerns-on almost a daily basis. In addition, Donna worked with us to get a move in date that coincided with a move-in special. Keep in mind when you visit a home like this and are talking to the employees, everything is wonderful. Try talking to the residents who live there. They are the ones who can tell you what it is really like. Ask about Security. Look for cameras. Are there any inside or outside? Who will have a key and have access to my room? Renting a room there for a week before deciding to move in permanently would give you insight to what it would be like to live there. Eat in the dining room. Get to know the residents. Can you get a ride to your doctor's appointment????? Better safe than sorry.

As a businessman I believe that employees should be commended for going above and beyond what is required. I want to tell you about our journey of getting to Bellingham and COMPLIMENT the services of Loretta Marino. We meet Loretta about 8 months ago when my wife had the first onset of dementia. We toured your facility three different times starting with independent living in the fall of 2024 then personal care for my wife of 45+ years as her dementia progressed. Loretta was very patient and understanding of our situation and found the right fit for me and my wife. Loretta has followed up quickly to our inquiries and referred us to your chef Jeffrey who catered the joint birthday parties of our oldest son (who turned 40) AND ME (WHO TURNED 70) last weekend. My family toured Watermark with our mother after losing our Dad months prior. Loretta and Donna both were so hospitable and supportive with us and helped guide us through the process and everything lined up well and Mom is now moved in and on her fourth week there. Since her arrival I’ve personally met several of the residents and have seen both Donna and Loretta on several occasions checking in on Mom to make sure she’s adjusting well. I highly recommend this as a home for any senior. It’s a beautiful community.

I recently went on a tour with a lovely lady named Donna Rachlin. I am searching for a place for my 79 year old father. Donna was so warm and inviting! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The apartment sizes were great and the entire facility was decorated beautifully. It was a wonderful experience. I could totally see my dad living here. It felt like home.

I can't say enough on how the staff at the Watermark. From the very beginning when we received a referral to them (surprisingly from a location that was not 5 stars...more on that in another review) to this very moment the experience with them has been incredible. My Mom came to the Watermark after a fall, fractured hip and rehab and to say the least was pretty run through the wringer. The group at the Watermark not only made the process to move into the facility seamless, they met with us on a Sunday to show us the facility and gave us all the time we needed to ask questions. When it came to move in time they were flexible and made sure once Mom was in she was always checked in on by staff in addition to the helpers support that is onsite. We can not say enough, about Donna, Loretta, Jane and the entire staff there at the Watermark at Bellingham. Thank you!

My mom will be moving in this week to an independent apartment. She is moving from Hilton Head, SC. A few years ago, I used to volunteer at Bellingham and knew how wonderful the community is. When I met Donna Rachlin, the Sales Director, for the first time to talk about moving my mom, my decision to only look at Bellingham was sealed. Donna has been kind, patient, genuine and approachable, offering me and my family a lot of guidance as we ready ourselves to move Mom from her home in Hilton Head in which she has lived for nearly 40 years. Donna, Loretta, Jane, all of the front desk staff, the maintenance guys Toni and Charlie, and the rest of the staff that I have said hello to are kind, friendly and accessible. I look forward to Mom spending her days with friendly neighbors and staff, walking on the nearby trail, eating good food and finally being close to family once again.

I am thrilled with The Watermark at Bellingham. I was interested in moving my brother there after I became familiar with the facility when my brother-in-law and later my oldest friend moved there. After seeing the beautiful renovations and speaking with the staff, I moved my brother there from another facility in north central PA. Loretta Marino was wonderful. She handled everything for us and made the transition easy and painless. My brother is very happy there, and I am impressed with the care and attention to detail provided him. Thank you, everyone!
