"Thus far, Barclay Friends has far exceeded our expectations. We are particularly excited about my wife's fast start on some social life; specifically, having lunch with some other residents and in the courtyard no less. She was thrilled. For the last two years, she has had no such social contact. Prior to becoming disabled she met frequently for lunch with friends, high school, and college classmates. As if that were not enough, she has raved about the food. I don't know what to say. Greatly appreciate that staff makes eye contact and, as appropriate reaches out to introduce themselves. At too many facilities, staff seems to go out of their way to pretend you are not there."

My mother has been at Barclay now for one year. The staff is outstanding!. We are there visiting several times a week and different hours of the day. The care my mother gets is not good.. it's over the top. I am so greatful she calls this place her home. The peace of mind our family has knowing she is getting the best care.

We feel very comfortable with our mom being at the Barclay. We appreciate that the staff seem to know her by name and are very friendly with her and all of our family coming for visits. Mom likes to be alone and the Barclay has allowed that while also working to keep her socially involved at mealtimes and other events.

My father has been at Barclay Friends in the Personal Care Unit (Preston) for 2 Years. Everyone was and is welcoming. The nursing care is excellent. He joins in all the activities. The best recommendation for Barclay Friends comes from my father. He tells me he is happy there.

My 86 years old aunt was initially places at Springfields after after her husband passed away. Just after a few days being there I knew I can't leave her. We were lucky to come across B.Friends where she is from April 2022. There are so many good things about this place.... - the stuff is always cheerful and nice to everyone, from the front desk staff Donna, to the activity team members and nurses - the place is peaceful. There is no chaos - the building is specious, clean and nicely decorated with always changing art created by kids. - the stuff listens to feedback and requests - they are great in providing on-going updates (I only wish that some of the nurses would start the call from saying "this is not emergency". Sometime when they call me in the middle of the night, as I am in a different country, I stressed out that something happens to my aunt as it takes some time for them to tell me why they are calling about. - the garden outside is very nice. We can take my aunt for a wheelchair walk around the building and check the fruits vegetables or even fish! - there are many well thought activities for residents The only thing I wish is that the nurses wouldn't not have changed that often. I can't blame the facility, as I know it is a world-wide problem to find employees, especially in healthcare industry, but maybe there is something they could do to keep the stuff for longer? There is so many benefits from employee retention, including way lower costs, so I would assume it is a problem worth looking into. The facility has already advantage in being a nice place, so it may be good to figure out what causes people to leave and tackle it. Overall I am very satisfied with the facility and would highly recommend it to anyone who has a family member in need of care.

I can't say enough nice things about Barclay. The facility is very nicely kept and the rooms are just the right size. My Aunt was in memory care for over a year and the staff was excellent even when she had her outbursts from dementia. Same for the skilled unit that she used for rehab after a fall and at the end when she was on hospice. Please consider this facility for your family members, it was a wonderful experience for a difficult time in our lives.
February 2022
Even though my 93 year old Mom was only a resident of Barclay Friends for about 4.5 months before peacefully passing away, her stay there was exceptional. The staff in the Birmingham unit were some of the most caring and thoughtful people I've ever met. Mom suffered from dementia, was wheelchair bound, and later became bedridden. She called out and cried a lot and at times seemed inconsolable. Everyone I came in contact with - from the Receptionist, Admissions office, Nursing Director, Social Services, Activities, Music Therapy, PT/OT, Communications/Technology, Dietician, Food service, Financial services, etc., to the amazing Nursing staff and Aids - bent over backwards to provide comfort and kind companionship to my ailing Mom. At all times during her stay, the team kept me fully apprised of her condition and answered my many questions. They also made a point of frequently asking me how I was doing, handling the grief associated with letting go of my Mom. My brother and I will always be grateful for the quality of care Mom received at Barclay Friends.

All I can say is my mom loves this place. She is always in such a good mood and talks about all the people that she's made friends with who work there. They sound as though they are extremely nice and caring people. My mother has never once complained about this place. That says a lot!! Thank you Barclay Friends for taking such good care of my mom 🙂
December 2020
Barclay Friends has a very caring staff and the community is very residential, beautiful, and location is great in the Borough of West Chester, but in a residential neighborhood. The new Preston building is perfect for someone who is independent, but does not want to cook or clean anymore.

I am forever grateful for the outstanding care physical and emotional that my mother received while residing at Barclay Friends. They made my mother's transition into her new home SO much better (safer and enriching) than my experience with other senior living facilities and, frankly, so much better than I could have ever imagined. My thanks to all staff; you are all special people and truly gifted at what you do.

My Mom has been at Barclay for 8 months and I can't say enough good things about the facility and staff. Blows away other places my Mom was at by far.
March 2019
My mother resided at Barclay Friends until her passing. The facility far exceeded our expectations having been to three other facilities previously. My mother was treated with utmost care, kindness, and love as though she was each staff members own family.
