I can’t say enough positive things about this facility especially the memory care unit. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth, compassion, and genuine dedication of all of the staff. This team consistently goes above and beyond. Special recognition goes to the director, Karli, whose leadership clearly sets the tone for the entire unit. She is approachable, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to both residents and their families. My sisters and I could not have been more pleased with the facilities, the personnel, and the community of residents as our father transitioned from his hometown to Ridgecrest of McCandless. His apartment is incredibly lovely and perfectly sized for his needs, the staff and personal aides work tirelessly to ensure that he feels safe and continues to function with as much independence as possible for as long as possible, and the community of residents are warm, engaging, and all immediately made him feel at home. Our family - and specifically my father - could not be more pleased with how things worked out. We look forward to visiting him at Ridgecrest for many years to come.

I can’t say enough good things about this community. We moved my aunt in a little over a year ago and she has done nothing but succeed. She was using a wheel chair when she first moved in and after weeks of using their in house therapist, she is now using a walker. She has more friends and more of a social life that she or I ever thought she would ever have. From the staff who treat her and my entire family like their own family, to the activities and the great food, we couldn’t ask for more. I highly recommend everything about this community!!

Not the place for everyone. My parents require 1-1 care and when we toured the place, we were assured that they would receive that. Then we were told that we would have to hire a private aide for 1-1 care. This place is very expensive and now we need to spend more $$ for them to receive the appropriate level of care? I also asked that my parents be put on a regular schedule for dining, but was told that was not possible either. So, if no one responds to their call to go to dinner, who knows what they eat. My mother has been losing weight and cannot afford to skip meals. This place is understaffed and some, not all, of the aides are undertrained. Some just do not understand how to care for people with cognitive decline, and seem to do as little as possible. There are aides who are simply wonderful and take the time to really care for their charges, but they simply have too large a caseload. The assistance is minimal, the food underwhelming, many aides undertrained and the staff inattentive. If you are independent, outgoing and do not need assisted living then this might be the right place, but I cannot recommend it.

My sister is a piano player who has played in many senior living environments. When she played at Ridgecrest McCandless, she indicated that the staff and residents have a unique appreciation for each other. She commented about the cleanliness of the facility and the overall good vibe if I get to the point where I need this kind of care this is where I’m coming.

Ridgecrest of McCandless has been a wonderful experience for my family. My father needed a place after having some health challenges. He needed a place that would be able to safely care for him around the clock. A place that has a community of people. Finally, a place that would help him continue to recover. It has exceeded those expectations to date. He is happy and thriving. He is returning to levels of activity that he enjoyed previously. Ridgecrest of McCandless has become a place that he calls home.

Ridgecrest was exactly right for my Mom. She was able to live independently as if in an apartment building but still have support when she needed it. As her condition progressed, she was able to get more help without having to relocate. The staff is very caring, respectful, and attentive. The head nurses are experienced and energetic and really connect with my Mom to encourage her to follow her care plan. As a relative, I felt at ease knowing my Mom could enjoy her apartment and still be safe.

My cousin has been here a little over a week. She moved here from a different facility. The transition was easy. The staff including management has been great. True concern and compassion for the residents. Many amenities for them to enjoy. So far we couldn’t be happier and are so glad we moved her here.

My 94 year old mother was recently discharged from a local hospital to Ridgecrest senior living. Without a doubt the best move we could have made for my mother. My wife and I had toured several facilities and found Ridgecrest to be the best option. Our visit/tour was with Sharai Morris who was the absolute best. She took time to know and understand the situation with my mother, and the need to get her into an assisted living facility as she could no longer return to the independent living facility she had been living in . We got a thorough tour of Ridgecrest, information on all their accommodations and activities, and viewed apartment types that would be best for mom. Most notable was her assistance/interfacing with the social workers at the hospital who wanted to discharge mom to Ridgecrest two days earlier whether or not her room was ready or staff available to manage her transfer to the facility. Fortunately given the, shall we say, guidance Sharai was able to provide the hospital social worker, mother's transfer was pushed from a Saturday to Monday morning. All in all everyone we have crossed paths with at Ridgecrest has been nothing short of awesome to work with. Even mother, who was not pleased with the change on the Monday she moved in, was attending meal times and playing bingo the next day. Many thanks to Sharai Morris and everyone at Ridgecrest.

I guess to start this out, good things come to those that wait is the best way to begin. Waiting for Legends to take over the Atria building has been nothing less than better every day! The nursing staff Directed by Kelsi and Tatum assisting is absolutely amazing! I tell them all the time that it makes it so much easier for me to sleep at night, knowing that they are there to take care of my parents needs. Gary and the maintenance team are always there for anything and everything And when I tell you within 24 hours, I mean it. This makes my life easier knowing they are taking good care of my parent's needs. And last, but certainly not least Kelly has changed the atmosphere at that building from one of complete and utter chaos to one that there is a plan and continues to move forward to make it a better place day in and day out! The accountability that she holds her staff too is amazing. I’m so happy that my parents live in this building. Now, but I can tell you, had you asked me this over a year ago my comments would be much different I was looking for another place for them to be!

My mom and sister live at Ridgecrest Senior Living of McCandless. They have been there for about a year and a half and they require a lot of care and services. The care is better than anywhere else hands down. They are treated like family members by the staff/caregivers. It’s really amazing considering how hard it is to get any staff right now in this business. Our positive experience really started on day one with our interview when Melissa met with us. We were so impressed and it carries through to all the staff”nurses, aides, even dining room staff. They are open to family feedback and work with us to solve challenges. They are truly our saviors. If not for Ridgecrest, my sister would be in a nursing home. Thank you to all!!

My sister moved in at the end of October. It was such an easy transition. From the signing to the first meal everything was seamless and welcoming. Ridgecrest has a great ambassador program. Each new resident is given an ambassador to welcome them and help them with their transition into their new "home". The building looks like a beautiful resort with high ceilings, plenty of light, and cozy areas to read a book, play games, do crafts, and even play pool or poker. There is something for everyone at Ridgecrest. If any resident wants someone to visit with there are opportunities all around. The staff are so kind and welcoming. They seem to genuinely care for the residents and try to get to know them. I was especially impressed by how many of the staff stopped to talk and listen to the people as they went about their jobs. The maintenance staff were so kind as we moved in and knew my sister's name within three days. When I found out they had a "happy hour" I was sure my sister would not go to it. Within three days she was looking forward to it. She does not drink alcohol but she now looks forward to going down to socialize and have a glass of cranberry juice. What a great idea!!! Ridgecrest wants their residents to know that they are in a new home. The difference in my sister's whole outlook on life is amazing. She is so happy living in her new apartment and looks forward to being with her new friends. Since my last post there have been a few glitches as in any move. The amazing staff at Ridgecrest have gone out of their way to get everything just right. The moment you walk in the door you are greeted by a receptionist at the desk. Each of them are amazing but I have to say Marsha and John are the funniest! Trying to coordinate between doctor offices and the Health Care Department was a little bit of a challenge at first because the one doctor's office got behind. Her health care never suffered because Kelsy and Tatum along with the med techs fixed everything. I had a question about the billing and Laura explained everything perfectly! When we went to look at Ridgecrest Sharai was our sales rep but there was never a hard sell. The director came along the day my sister signed the lease and toured her apartment with us. ALL of these people and more know my sister by sight and name and always say hi. She really feels like she is in her "home" and with friends! Thank you, Ridgecrest!!!

After touring several other facilities, we chose Ridgecrest for my mother. We couldn't be happier with the decision. From the sales staff, to the memory care director, to the med techs and aides, everyone is so kind, caring, and professional. After researching several AL facilities, my parents made a decision to move to Ridgecrest 3 months ago and we could not be happier with our choice. From the beginning, the transition has been great. The sales team worked with us every step of the way from the application process through the actual move in. The maintenance staff was available and helpful on move-in day and the days after as my parents got situated. The service and quality of meals offered by the dietary team is great. My parents have been treated with much respect by everyone involved in resident care. The nursing team has demonstrated genuine concern for my parents and are excellent with communication. The management team at Ridgecrest is responsive and genuinely concerned with the quality of the resident’s experience. The overall environment of the building is positive and upbeat. I look forward to my visits. I would definitely recommend Ridgecrest.

We recently moved my father into Ridgecrest, McCandless. We couldn't be more pleased with the facility and staff. The apartments are very spacious and clean. The facility itself is very modern, clean and cozy. When my father moved in, they provided him with brand new bedroom furniture that is very nice and modern. He always raves about the food and loves that he can order whatever he needs through the day. He also enjoys joining in the daily activities, particularly bingo and movie nights. He also just enjoys sitting downstairs with his coffee and watching tv at the bistro. The staff has been incredible and everyone already knows him by name. It makes me so happy that he's in such a beautiful, warm and inviting facility with staff who seem to truly enjoy being there!

I recently moved my parents, both in their 90's, to Ridgecrest. From my initial visit, to touring with my parents, to move-in, the place never failed to impress. We worked with Sharai Morris, who has unending patience and knowledge about the entire transition experience. She is amazing! What I especially love about Ridgecrest is the vibrancy. This is a place where seniors come to LIVE! From packed bingo games to movies to bridge club to happy hour, the place is always brimming with life and activity. I highly recommend Ridgecrest.

My father came to Ridgecrest two weeks ago. Sharai, the sales director was amazing. Her professionalism in explaining the facility and what Ridgecrest had to offer was more than I could even imagine for my father 94 year old father. Within the two week of my father being at Ridgecrest I feel he regained his confidence in himself. The staff member are also the success to this facility. They are willing to help my father with whatever he may need. Everyone there is happy, friendly and always smiling. That makes a huge difference. The place is clean, bright and very up lifting. Would highly recommend to any family if you are considering on transitioning a family member to senior living to consider Ridgecrest.

I must say that not only is this facility one of the better facilities that I’ve ever dealt with and have the pleasure to refer people to. The staff is amazing. Their detailed care to the residence in my opinion is impeccable. They truly genuinely care about their residence. The staff is always friendly whenever I go in to visit. Their functions are lively and entertaining and fun. So my recommendation is top-notch For this facility. You can rest assured that your loved ones will be well taken care of and cared for here.

My parents have been living here for several months and are very happy. The staff is always friendly when I visit and my parents seem well taken care of. I have been impressed with the facilities from the beginning but it’s the staff that really shines. I understand it’s hard to keep staff, but it’s like that at almost any assisted living facility. My parents enjoy the happy hour and food and variety of activities. Ridgecrest really seems to be trying to make improvements and do the best for their residents. My family has made friends with staff I would recommend this place for anyone.

We just relocated my mom to Ridgecrest Senior Living and Memory Care in April 2024, she has been there almost a month now. I worked with Sharai Morris tirelessly since August 2023 to make this happen and from TX! Sharai and the rest of the staff have been outstanding, and my mom loves her bright apartment, her daily exercise classes and that she could bring her cat! All the staff are so pleasant, and you can see how much they care about the residents. I feel like this change will hopefully stimulate my mom more and help slow the pace of her Alzheimer's. 5 stars for sure!

After extensive research and touring several senior communities in Pittsburgh, I chose to become a resident at Ridgecrest. I retired from the hospitality industry recently, and find the facility, staff and amenities are comparable to those you would find in a luxury resort. The apartments and public areas are well laid out and spacious, and meticulously maintained. All the personnel- from Management to Back of the House have been warm, welcoming and eager to please. The restaurant staff have been professional, friendly and insure I have a superb meal experience--every time! The residents here are friendly and actively recruit you to join in daily activities. As for the activities, well, there's something for everyone's interest from fitness activities to a mobile library. I would strongly recommend Ridgecrest Senior Living as an outstanding home environment to enjoy the next phase of your life. If I could rate Ridgecrest any higher, I would!

With the first signs of early-onset Alzheimer's Disease presenting, we needed a place for my Mother-In-Law to live. Our friend Melissa S. indicated she worked there and that she believed Ridgecrest would be perfect for "Mom". We were able to pick a room that was right for Mom, and while Mom can't use all the services due to her condition, I briefly thought about moving in myself (chuckling) ! They have a kind of "cruise ship like" routine going for the residents with daily happy hours, swimming pool access, movie theater, a facility chef and an activity director, no less. Mom can't use all of the fun stuff at this point, but there's plenty there for her.

My sister is in the memory unit at Atria McCandless. I was pleasantly pleased with the physical unit. Very secure. Had a nice enclosed Atrium. I stayed for dinner which was 2 choices, veal parmigiana or cheese tortilla. They provided the physical plate (visual) for residents to choose from and wrote down their order. I was also provided a choice so we both choose the veal. The food tasted good and nourishing, We were given a choice of Pepsi or Ginger-ale, we both choose Ginger-ale and toasted. Very pleasant experience. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. There was a digital picture of the occupant on the room door, very clever. Watched a couple of movies, The staff (3) for about 25 residents were very attentive and engaging. I wish that she had a recliner to elevate her swollen legs. Overall a very good experience. Atria McCandless is a warm, friendly and inclusive environment. Beautiful facility with many, many amenities. Staff is excellent. Offers many different apartment options to accommodate a person's financial ability. Residents are welcoming. We toured at least 5 facilities in the North hills area before choosing Atria hands down. None compare. Atria has an "apartment" feel, not at all a "nursing home" feel.

Bright, cheerful and friendly! Staff was welcoming and engaging at every chance encounter. Residents were well groomed, every day people that could have been your neighbors already by their easy greetings as you passed by. It felt like you were home while being immaculately clean without any cover up fragrances. Ample activities and places for gatherings.

Beautiful new community! Apartments are modern and spacious. Memory Care is very lovely with outside courtyard. Staff is warm and friendly - Erica and Rachel (in marketing) are knowledgeable, helpful and go out of their way to accommodate families and residents.

This is not a facility for independent living. All visitors must leave by 7:30. If you want to watch sporting events with your loved ones or just visit after hours in your home, that’s not an option. Then there is COVID, if someone tests positive, you are notified that you are now in quarantine and can’t leave your home, but no time frame is provided. If you need medications, the housekeeping staff has been trained to disperse same. If you are on medications that should not be given if your heart rate or blood pressure is at a certain number, no one will ever know because there is no monitoring.

Atria McCandless is an absolutely stunning community in a perfect location if you like being very close to restaurants, movies and shopping! Nothing beats the front entrance and the floor to ceiling stone fireplace is like no other! The team is kind, caring and very helpful - I would highly recommend this community!

Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
