DO NOT ALLOW YOUR LOVED ONE TO BE SENT TO WESLEY ENHANCED LIVING. My sister recently experienced a health emergency that led to her not being able to walk or do normal day-to-day activities herself. Prior to this, she lived alone and was a very independent and active woman. She spent a few weeks in the hospital before needing to be sent to a rehabilitation facility for daily physical therapy. My sister was then sent to Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line. During my first visit to see her, everything inside the facility appeared clean and everyone we met was nice. Things quickly changed, however, and within a day it became clear that the nurses and aides at Wesley were not doing their due diligence, to say the least. When arriving for my second visit, the patient across the hall was screaming “HELP ME, GET ME OUT OF HERE” repeatedly. No one came to check on the woman, who continued to scream during my next few visits until eventually the nurses just closed her door and continued to ignore her cries for help. I tried to go to Wesley almost every day to see my sister. When I was not there, I would call for updates but my phone calls were never answered. My sister would call me on her own phone crying, and told me that no one would check on her or come to see her when she would press the call button for help. The nurses were giving her laxatives and then waiting close to an hour when my sister would press the call button for help to get to the bathroom. Even worse, my sister is a diabetic who needs daily doses of insulin. The nurses and aides were not being consistent about giving her the insulin, and one day during her stay her sugar levels were so high that they could not wake her up. The physical therapists were actually very nice, but since she was only with them for a short period of time every day, my sister was not moved around at all by the nurses and aides and eventually developed a painful bed sore. There was one aide in particular who I witnessed on multiple occasions come into my sister’s room and not speak to her or ask how she was doing or what she needed. She was extremely rude and was not treating my sister with any semblance of respect. During her final day at Wesley, my sister called for help to get to the bathroom. A nurse helped her up, and then left her unattended. My sister’s medical notes stated very clearly that she required 100% physical contact at all times when standing. Because she was left unattended, she lost her balance and fell backwards, hitting her head and getting a concussion. She was sent back to the hospital, and was so frightened at the thought of going back to Wesley that a caseworker from the hospital got involved to ensure her safety and transfer to a new facility. I spent every day that my sister was at Wesley worried for her safety and well-being and concerned at the care she was being given. Please do not send your loved one to this facility.

My parents moved into WEL Main Line after a stay for both of them (different reasons) in the rehab section. While there, they toured the community and were impressed with the friendliness (everybody knows your name!), the great food, the ambience, and the affordability. They moved into an apartment a month later! After two years, my mother declined and eventually moved into skilled nursing and my father was able to visit her daily. The tram - similar to golf carts - brought him back and forth. Since she passed, my father has maintained his independent apartment where he turned 100 this year. The Facility did a remarkable one-year renovation that turned the shared spaces into a showplace. My father asked me to say, This place is great. They did a terrific job when they renovated most of the place and tried to bother us a little as possible. Its really beautiful. The food is like a restaurant. Mike made sure we all got our Covid vaccines in the right order. The Covid pandemic has been rough for long term care facilities, and the WEL community is no exception. The true exception has been the care, kindness, concern, detailed planning and transparent management and communication which were all we could hope for.

I am glad to have this opportunity to enumerate my experiences here at Wesley-Enhanced-Living. The Administrator - Michael DeStefon is amazing, dedicated and very much a part of every aspect of our community. Yes! Community: yes we are residents but what is better we are neighbors. Every aspect of our staff: Wellness, Many Activities, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Energy-exercise, Chefs, Servers, all perform with competence and friendliness. I have been here 3 years and am content and know I am in the place - Wesley - where I should be. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Just call main number and they will reach me. My grandfather, a Holocaust survivor and decorated Korean War hero, is a resident at Wesley Enhanced Living Mainlines skilled nursing facility. He receives loving, individualized, impeccable care. The Director of Nursing, Kim Ratliff , is highly experienced, humorous, kind, warm and very accommodating. My grandfather, who had a very hard life, is very happy at Wesley. He loves the quality of the food and the amazing dietary staff. They honor his vegetarian lifestyle. The beautiful newly renovated facility is spotless. Of course, the care is more important than the building. My family is so impressed by the care that my grandfather receives. Everyone is so kind and attentive. They have a very dedicated, helpful social worker and a lively, creative activities department. My grandfather never had such a social life! The housekeeping and maintenance staff know my grandfather and talk to him. My grandfathers clock was broken. The maintenance department fixed it right away. During this very stressful covid era, they do all they can to keep the residents safe and entertained. They also go way above and beyond in connecting residents with their families on zoom and with window visits. So, if you need to find a skilled nursing facility for a loved one, Wesley Enhanced Living Mainline is the very best.

After my mom fell broke her femor. She was placed in Dunnwoody my mom got a UTI and was back in the hospital. My sisters and I were looking for a new place for Mom. My sister called a place for Mom and she found Wesley. We love it ! Mom has been living there for about a year she is happy, people are friendly she had made friends, food is great. Mom is safe staff is responsible and friendly. The only two complaints she has had living there is a bank on site that if you dont have a account they will not give change (I have to agree what is the sense of a bank in a assisted living that doesnt serve the clients) and the nurse on staff is only an LPN not an RN , But we love her, she is responsible, friendly.keeps open lines of communication and is not afraid to say, I cant help her she needs to go to a hospital.

I recently had an illness and was welcomed into the Meadows (the skilled nursing home at Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line). Heres what I heard over and over: Hello Pearl… Hello Pearl… Hello Pearl…! Staff members knew my name, even though I didnt know all of their names. Many knew me because I had been a para-chaplain and visited residents there in the past. I was very pleased with my stay. Everybody was willing to help me. If I couldnt go to therapy, the physical therapists came to me. The nurses and therapists worked hard to get me back on my feet and now I am back in my apartment again.

Great community! The staff here at Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line has been wonderful to us, especially when me and my husband first moved here and I had health problems. They got me the doctors appointments I needed, and even went with me to one of my appointments. I cannot thank everyone in the wellness office enough! We picked this community because of all the extra activities and are extremely pleased with everything. I am especially happy to have been able to start up a beginners Canasta group.

They are now doing business as WEL after a change in management. My Mom was briefly a resident before she passed away. Therein lies a tale and a cautionary one at that Most of these types of communities require a buy in before entry and WEL is no different. My Mom had modest means and we had to sell her home for her to qualify for a small studio. It was satisfactory and clean and the staff was responsive and caring. No problems there. Quite the contrary. But Mom was only in her studio for about a week when she fell and had to be moved to the hospital unit. She was there for a while, happy and well cared for. But she contracted pneumonia, probably after a stay in rehab somewhere else previously. It never quite cleared up and, much to everyones chagrin, she took sick and died. All told, she was at WEL for a month or so I want to make it clear she was well cared for. But when you do a buy in, you agree that the unused portion of the buy in, which amortized the rent, will be returned after the apartment was rerented. In Moms case, that was approximately six months ago, and WEL owes the estate some 70,000 dollars, or nearly half of the sale price of Moms home. I have worked through the estate lawyer to try to get them to return the money, but have hit a stone wall. I suspect they are stalling because they can and they are hurting my Moms grandchildren in the process. Yes, its perfectly legal, I suppose, but it is outrageous given the time she spent there. Her family deserves better The moral is to be very careful dealing with this company. If they owe you part of an estate, they have little incentive to return it. And they are good at stalling. If you can find a less restrictive entrance covenant, do so. Run the agreement past a lawyer who specializes in CONTRACTS Or just hope your loved one spends their resources. Because, otherwise, you will wonder how these people can take an interest free loan on an estate with virtually no regulation for an indefinite period. I have heard similar stories from others on investigation, and the new management would make me even more wary of dealing with them. Be careful and be informed.
