I stayed in skilled rehab at Laurel Center from mid-March to early April 2026. The photos I am uploading are of the VIEW from the windows of the Nursing Home! Can you imagine staying at a nursing home that’s surrounded by beautiful farms, where you can look out the window of your room to see dairy barns and cows, horses grazing, tractors in the fields, and scenic mountain ridges in the distance? This was a complete- and wonderful- surprise for me! The building itself shows signs of relatively recent renovation, including newer built-in closets and bureaus in the rooms, new flooring (hardwood laminate) in the rooms, and fully remodeled shower room. The laundry staff were very attentive to the needs of the residents and never lost an article of clothing. The Administrative staff were very helpful in helping navigate issues like insurance appeals and applying for Long Term Care benefits. The nursing staff were- all and all - excellent both the CNAs and RNs. My only complaint about them is the staffing level was sometimes insufficient, resulting in having to wait 30-40 minutes from when the bell was rung and when a staff member arrived. But the whole team was very professional, caring and DEDICATED. Their dedication to their purpose in patient care was extraordinary. Also- and this is important- the members of the team showed kindness and respectfulness of one another, making for a healthy and functional working environment. The physical and occupational therapy staff were also very concerned about patients and very dedicated to their work. I found the director of physical therapy to be an extremely knowledgeable in her field. She recommended some orthotic products that I was not aware of and these products have made a life-changing difference for me. I was also extremely pleased with the nursing supervision provided by the CRNP from the Physical Therapy team. The only drawback with Laurel Center was the food. The quality of the food was mediocre to subpar. And requesting any possible alternative food option did not really solve the problem. I tried that once when the menu showed that there would be pizza and meanwhile, I had already eaten food earlier in the day that I believed would’ve had a high sodium content. So, I asked for a Caesar salad with chicken, and the salad that arrived was not very good at all. It was not possible to obtain yogurt or any fresh fruit like a banana or slices of orange. Even if the menu said that there would be fresh fruit served, there was always a substitute provided like canned fruit or Jell-O instead. I have certain dietary needs that are not atypical for somebody who is older in age: due to hypertension, I’m watching my sodium, and due to cholesterol levels. I am watching my saturated fat and cholesterol intake. Also, due to being pre-diabetic, I watch my sugar intake. Nevertheless, the best breakfast offered at Laurel Center was scrambled egg. And, I found myself saying to the nurses ordinarily in my life, I eat egg maybe once every six weeks because of the cholesterol, and in this situation, I’m eating it almost every day I tried to remind the nurses that actually I should have been taking fish oil tablets to help combat cholesterol. And although it was on my list of prescriptions, they were not providing it. So, after I pointed out that it was missing and especially due to the high cholesterol diet I should be taking it, they actually began giving me fish oil tablets daily. But then, ironically, when they discharged me although fish oil was on the list, I did not receive any fish oil tablets in my discharge medications bag. Overall, there was like a disconnect between the idea of eating healthy and the available food offered from the kitchen. But, I had actually known this fault in the beginning, I had seen similar complaints also posted in Google, about the food. I selected Laurel Center based on its ratings in Nursing Home Compare, on cms.gov. The ratings were especially good for the short term skilled nursing wing, and that turned out to be correct!!

Added here about 3weeks later and now Im adding to my first impression. My brother, a resident here, has passed. On behalf of my sisters Elaine, Donata,and myself I want to thank the entire staff who assisted and cared for my brother in his last few difficult days. They did everything we asked and everything possible to help and keep my brother comfortable. In the few weeks he was here my brother really liked and cared for those caring for him but never got to say thank you to them at the end. The staff kept us updated with his changes not matter the hour. I thank you with all my heart and pray your entire staff is rewarded with graces for how you truly care. Eddie First rating: First time here to visit my brother and met this interesting 'sign-in' bot. It later sent me a text checking up on me. My visit went well and staff very attentive. At times I think i wouldn't mind a text with some rules or tips while I am visiting.

Care was very good. Heidi, nurse and Jen A.the CNA From evening shift were excellent. They were both exceptional nice and helpful always asking if there was anything they could do for us. Nothing was ever too much for them to do and it was always done with a smile. The last night we were told that we would be missed. That really left a wonderful impression with us. We will miss them both

This rehab place wasn't what I was expecting @ first. The staff could do better in communicating among themselves and with the patients, especially when they change a medication. The majority of the staff were great to deal with and were pleasant when they came into the room, but some were downright rude. When I got my meals, I lots of times didn't get everything listed on my slip or it was something entirely different. Overall, I commend the staff for doing their jobs, as difficult as it is.

A friend recently was transfered to the Laurel center from St Joe's hospital after his right leg was amputated, this was my first visit to him today and all the staff that I met were all friendly, kind and helpful.

I have my loved one in the laurel center for 2 years and as a nurse myself they are very dedicated workers my loved one is always clean and dressed and happy when I visit. The room os always cleaned I can't say anything bad about the laurel center the aides nurses on the north unit take pride in what they do and you don't get that at most places .

It was very clean and most of the staff was very nice and helpful. The lady at the front desk was absolutely a delight. She was so sweet and friendly and greeted up with a big smile and made us feel very welcome. Our mom seemed to be in good spirits and I was happy to see her doing well.

It’s not a terrible place for a short stay for your loved ones. However the communication is terrible within the different departments. There are a few cnas and assistants that are worthless. Although there are a handful of excellent staff members that are helpful it’s just not somewhere anyone wants to be for more that a month or so.

We have a friend that has been there over a year in Assisted Living. We have never noticed urine smells, always clean. The staff is excellent. Many times we have been on the phone with him when the staff comes in and they always are happy and upbeat. While Covid has been difficult on staff and residents, they try their best to make things better. Definitely 5 stars

I feel that the staff has done a great job, especially during the Covid crisis. They all had to step up and do a lot more, especially during lock downs, due to staffing issues, feeding residents in their rooms, and they still provided quality care, despite all the extra rules and regulations that kept changing every time the wind blew. The staff kept their cool and remained professional despite the residents being short-tempered and impatient at times and they kept families informed and up to date with the changes.

I strongly recommed a loved ones placement at the Laurel Center in Hamburg, PA. After a long and through search for nursing home for my brother, Laurel Center met our criteria. He has been th for three years now. Even in 2020 when the Covid 19 pandemic was spreading at alarming levels their patients were given the highest level of care. Because Laurel Center followed and is continuing to follow CDC and their own administration rules I feel confident. The entire staff including administrative, nursing, therapists, doctors, care givers and diaticions keep in touch with the family they are competent, kind, have a positive outlook and are always available to address any of our concerns. Laurel Center offers various levels of activities which helps patients engage with others as well as keep up with their own individual interests. I strongly recommended the Laurel Center.

Our relative was Somewhere else before the Laurel Center, he was not happy there. Within weeks of being at the Laurel Center he was happy he felt like he was cared for, and that the people working there genuinely wanted to be there. He also felt the food was much better than the other facility. The grounds are well-maintained and the building is always clean. Tara DeLong one of the nurses on the assisted-living side is one of the best I have ever encountered.

The employees are nice. They’re friendly, kind, helpful, and polite. The landscape is beautiful around the building with the mountains in the background, and the farm lands all around, making it peaceful . The nurses and Cna’s work together as a team, to give the residents good care around the clock. They have a vent hall that is ran with good respiratory therapist on the floor. They also have a rehab with some wonderful therapist. With help from maintenance housekeeping laundry to keep everything in working order

The whole staff from the marvelous cooks (according to mom) to the aids, nurses and administrators are welcoming and kind to the residents and visitors . They treat mom like their own grandmother and the respect and care given is top notch. We were so worried and guilt ridden having to admit mom to a nursing home . Guess what? She loves it there! Loves the food, the attention and the people. She is safe and happy. What more can you ask for? It’s all about the people.
