Springhill makes you smile the minute you turn into the driveway. Tabitha was an excellent tour guide. She showed us around and carefully explained the amenities. It was a good look into what life at Springhill would be like. Very good, indeed.

I have lived at Springhill for four months and I know I have made the right decision to move here. I cant say enough about the caring staff who make you feel welcomed and truly care about your well being. It is all of the staff from Sales, Activities, Maintenance, Health Services and to the Reception Desk. I love all the activities that are listed every day, the bus trips and the groups that are brought in to preform for us. They all help in keeping me healthy and active.

Springhill is the most wonderful place to live. It's the best thing I've ever done, I've never had so many friends and everyone here is happy and friendly. It's a beautiful building and always looks brand new. All the people that work here are so helpful and friendly, they will help you with what ever you need. There are all kinds of activity's for you to get involved with and we celebrate all the holidays. The grounds always look perfect and there's lots of flowers and pretty flowering trees and a beautiful pond. We have a new Aquatic center for people who love the water. It's really very beautiful. We have everything you'd ever want or need right here. We have a bus that takes us to get groceries and shopping and to Doctors appointments. There are nurses on duty all the time and a security guard round the clock. We have a beautiful dinning room and the food is very good. I've lived here five years and I wouldn't want to be any where else. I thank God every day for this place and the wonderful people here.

Why Springhill? When my husband and I began looking for a home in Erie, a senior community was where the search began. I had previously lived out of state in a single home within a 55+ Active Living Community that I loved. When we viewed Springhill, the garden homes looked as though they were made for us at this time of our life. They were smaller than our present homes but had enough space for us. This, however, meant getting rid of many items that had been part of each of our lives, but after thinking about it, this was a good thing. Most of these items were things that hadn’t been used in a long time but held so emotional attachment. How long were we going to hang on to these items? As my decision-making process to move to Springhill continued, we realized the time in our lives to minimize was here. This was not only good for us but also my children. I have two adult children with young families who live out of town and are in the midst of the highly active time in their lives. Also, we had just buried our nonagenarian mothers and had gone through the process of sorting through their belongings, preparing the houses (our family homesteads) for resale, and going through all the legalities that go along with this. We were determined my boys were not going to go through that with or for us. If we moved into Springhill our homes would be sold, and we would not own our garden home. Ninety percent of the entry fee would be returned to our estate. Our belongings would be minimized, and my sons would not have to go through the emotional and difficult process we had just completed with our mothers. Additionally, Springhill is a progressive living community. At this point we fit into the independent living part of this community but when either or both of us need assisted living, Oakview is available for us. When we need more nursing care, Forestview is the next step. All of this is available here at Springhill and we would already be in a community that knows us and is aware of our needs. We feel as though all the decisions for the senior chapter of our life will have been willingly made by us and my children will not have to worry about making those choices. The next reason why we chose Springhill is because it is filled with kind welcoming residents and associates that have had many interesting experiences, they are willing to share. It is wonderful to be befriended by such caring people. The campus of Springhill is beautiful. It is covered with trees, luxurious grass, and a beautiful pond with a gazebo. There are walking trails, putting and chipping greens, a bocce court and a fabulous fire pit. Additionally, many activities are provided for residents such as weekly bus trips around Erie, theater and philharmonic events, discussion groups, games, quarterly socials and holiday parties, as well as, physical fitness activities such as salt water pool exercises, balance, yoga, and seated strength classes. What a wonderful life is available to those of us who live here! I would highly recommend Springhill to any active senior.

When my husband and I decided it was time to downsize, a Springhill Garden Home was first on our list of retirement homes. With having my mother living in a Springhill residential apartment for the past 13 years, the decision was easy. The campus is beautiful inside and out, and our Garden home was completely updated. There are so many inside amenities, a such fitness center, swimming pool, library, and an renovated dining facility. Outside, the grounds are beautiful with a winding walkway leading to a gazebo, butterfly garden and lovely pond. The staff members here are an outstanding group of people. They go over and above, to met all of our needs. We are so happy that we made this our home.

My husband, David and I moved into a Springhill garden home late summer of 2024. We love our new home and can’t believe the wonderful new friends we have met. As we’ve aged, we wanted to be somewhere safe and secure; we found Springhill to be such a place. The staff was so helpful to get us settled and acclimated to our new surroundings. We feel very fortunate to be at Springhill. Lenora Lewis

Springhill---Positive Life Changing Experiences. Since it's opening, Springhill was the new home for many friends. From my family, my sister, and my cousin, completed their life's journeys here. Time came for Joan and I to determine our future well being. Unquestioning, it was to be at Springhill! And what a correct decision it came to be!! Our unit had space for some of our furniture, our d©cor, our possessions, our clothing. Soon we were comfortable, and began Life at Springhill. We were greeted. Life experiences, descriptions of family, working years, vacations, volunteering, memories were shared with Springhillanders We shared activities---concerts, movies, discussions, parties, dinners, the social life. After several years, one of the important plusses of being here became apparent. My wife needed more care than I was able to provide. At Forest View, daily, I was with her for hours, most meals, and always nearby, until her passing more than a year ago. I was never without support. It was my choice. Whenever a hint of mental or physical support was needed, Springhill's associates were there to encourage me. My life had changed, but not my lifestyle. Again, My Choices. I make use of transportation to cultural events, lunches, and activities provided. My desire to be a part of what goes on at Springhill is always encouraged. I am thankful that we made the Springhill decision. Happily, I'll share experiences with those that are prospective Springhillanders or those that are already here who wish to chatter, converse, or just spend time gabbing with me.

While it is never easy to accept the fact of inevitable aging, planning for the future provides control and, ultimately, freedom. Moving to Springhill was one of the best decisions my husband and I made almost seven years ago. The campus is beautiful and well-maintained, the associates like family, and management sensitive to addressing not only physical but also intellectual, and spiritual needs of its residents.

We moved to a garden home at Springhill in 2023 and are loving it. We are new retirees and wanted to move to Erie to be closer to family. We are glad that we did it sooner rather than later. We are just as active as we've always been, and Springhill keeps us in shape physically and mentally with a fully equipped gym, indoor pool, walking path around a beautiful pond, library, chapel, yoga, and exercise classes. The campus is immaculate, and all the associates are fantastic. We've made new friends and reconnected with old friends in Erie. It's a relief to never have to buy a new roof, water heater, furnace, or appliances, and to not have to take care of lawn or snow removal. We feel very spoiled.

Springhill was the only place Mom would consider when the time came for her to move to a more secure and safe environment. While she thought she was not ready at first, she soon fell in love with her apartment, and enjoyed the social activities, trips, concerts and dining they had to offer. And we knew there was added security and checks that gave us peace of mind. Mom eventually would come to utilize all the care units offered at Springhill. She was hospitalized numerous times, and it was a comfort to know Forestview would be her place to rehab. They offered excellent therapy, and she became familiar with the staff. Mom had to transfer to Oakview (assisted living) the day after the COVID lockdown came into place. Imagine having to move to a new unit, cannot see family and dealing with medical issues. But she grew to love her new unit, she felt safe, and grew to love the staff. The staff became her family. They worked with us to schedule zoom calls, window visits, anything to help Mom adjust and thrive. And she did. They kept her safe from COVID, and the staff took very good care of her. I personally worked closely with the nursing staff and we collaborated on condition changes and doctors appointments. Their team helped us work through tough decisions, and helping to make Mom comfortable. I also want to mention what an asset their transportation bus is---eventually Mom was wheelchair bound outside her unit and on oxygen. It would have been difficult to get her to appointments without this service. I did not want this to be too long but it is difficult to capture all the assets the Springhill Community has to offer. I will forever be grateful to all the staff for taking such good care of Mom.

Written by Mom Norma Saxton, Resident since 2013: I knew for quite a while that we should move from our large, 2 story home - but my husband was "not ready yet". His health was failing and our ages were contributing to our inability to care for our home and to some degree, ourselves. More and more we had to rely on family. We were familiar with Springhill since our daughter was an Associate there since 2005. She kept us aware of marketing events and recommended that we attend several, which we did. Marketing kept us informed of all that Springhill had to offer. Why did we choose Springhill? After we were shown an apartment - we realized it was just the right size and met all our "requirements". The friendliness of the Residents and the Associates, the full time security, on-staff nurses, planned activities, a chaplain and beautifully kept grounds were added bonuses. Our choice of Springhill, home for 9 years now, was one we never regretted and I know I will be happy here for the rest of my days.

This post is from my mother who has enjoyed living at Springhill. I am also very happy she is there because I know she has made friends and is an active part of this community. How do you like living at Springhill? In the three years that I have lived here that is the question so many friends and family ask. Usually I answer that I like it just fine. Now I am thinking it is more than just fine *We all age differently, but age we do. The other residents here and I know that growing older is not for sissies. We encourage each other and look out for each other. We share our joys and sorrows. We go on trips together, we eat together, we party together. There is so much offered for our participation. People who grew up in approximately the same decades share memories that children and grandchildren just cannot totally understand. *I have had two medical emergencies that were quickly evaluated by the nursing and therapy staff and appropriately taken care of. Outcomes could have been quite different if I had been living alone. There is a comfortable feeling of safety when you know there will always be someone to come to your aid. *So I do think it is more than just fine living at Springhill. It is a great community to join as we age in place together. Elaine Dively

Our Springhill story begins the day I read an ad for an open house at Springhill in our local Erie newspaper. I decided to attend the open house invitation. I was so favorably impressed with their presentation that I convinced my very hesitant husband to take a personal tour of the facilities. At the end of the tour we turned to each other and realized that this was the answer to our prayers. We decided to put our names on the list of potential residents that very day. It was the perfect gift to give each other and to our family. No more worries. Our needs would be attended to here at Springhill. It is more than a community. It is now our extended family. A place where we know we are safe surrounded by caring individuals who are ready to attend to our needs. We are a diverse group of residents who share the joy of experiencing Springhill’s way of life. It is a special place filled with smiles from those that work here to the residents that reside here. The fact that they offer the care needed throughout the different stages of the aging process and the wide variety of amenities made it an easy choice. It is where one finds peace of mind, intellectual stimulation, a wide variety of physical activities and importantly the creation of new dear friendships that makes Springhill so special. The future at Springhill is very bright. Each morning we pinch ourselves to make sure it is not a dream. I like to say, Springhill is a little piece of heaven right here in Erie, PA. Another phrase often heard here is, Why didn’t we/I do this sooner?. So , I invite you to experience Springhill for yourself. You won’t be sorry. Sincerely, Elizabeth and Peter

My wife, Sue, knew Springhill very well since her mom and aunt had both lived there. So, when my mom was ready for a move, we easily recommended Springhill. Mom's reward was a new home, a very social environment, and the best caregiving staff ever assembled. Our reward was knowing that mom was happy, that she had a whole new and active involvement with friends, and knowing that she would be held in good care for the rest of her life. We have so many fond memories of our time with mom at Springhill, attending entertainment events with her, joining in worship services amongst friends, and enjoying many fine meals together. My earliest memory of Springhill is of the many smiles and happy greetings given by both the residents and staff during my first visit. And the facilities match the people - bright and welcoming. We are so blessed to have had our loved ones be members of this great community.

There was a day when doctors made house calls. No more!! That is unless you are a resident of Springhill Senior Living. One can access medical care without leaving their living quarters. We are so fortunate to have Chad Burns, a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Chad is on call here three days a week. He will see you in your apartment or Garden Home or in the physician's office. And, best of all, he is not on a time schedule that insurance dictates. Services provided include medical assessments, ordering of tests as well as medication refills, wound care, referrals to other specialists, etc. All one needs to do is call Nursing and request Chad's services. Chad is definitely a plus for those of us who reside at Springhill.

Wonderful place!!! I can not say enough about how great it is! It is a very warm and welcoming community, including the employees and the residents. My 90 year old mother moved up from the DC area not knowing a single person, and now she has more friends and activities than she has ever had. The facilities are beautiful, perfectly maintained, and wonderfully decorated for all holidays and festivities. My mother's one bedroom with den apartment looks brand new and is very modern, with everything she needs, including many windows that keep it bright inside, and a walkout balcony where she can sit, get fresh air, and catch a glimpse of Lake Erie. The indoor facilities also are very expansive and include so many options to keep everyone busy and active and socializing with each other. My mom especially enjoys the gorgeous indoor pool that looks like it should be in a ski resort, the weekly international current events group meetings, her dinner groups at the very nice restaurant with the fun themed meals, happy hours with new friends in their apartments and in Springhill, the numerous daily newspapers that are available in the libraries, the many musical groups that come and perform, including the Erie Philharmonic, and so, so much more...We are extremely happy having our mom living at such a wonderful place, with so many new friends and so many activities that keep her physically and mentally active, and knowing that 24/7 if she needs anything, assistance is just a beeper push away,

My Certified Therapy Dog, Molly, and I have lived at Springhill for almost 6 years. I have NEVER met an associate who was not friendly and willing to assist me as needed. The residents are very friendly and come from different ages, social, professional, and economic backgrounds. Molly and I are welcomed by everyone. More people know Molly's name than mine! The two of us enjoy going on "sniffaris" around the beautiful campus and have made friends with some of the wildlife. We visit with residents at the afternoon happy hour and visit Oakview, the assisted living unit on a regular schedule in addition to our visits to schools, libraries, hospitals and the county courthouse. We also visit the Forestview Skilled Nursing Center although we are currently restricted by Covid-19 precautions. There are social events at Springhill and "field trips" to enjoy the many dining and cultural amenities of Erie. Moving into Springhill and returning home to the Erie area was a very wise decision for this North East native. The secret to moving here is to do it BEFORE YOU NEED TO and while you are still able to enjoy all of its benefits.

AN INVESTMENT, YES WE'VE made this investment. One that wasn't easy by any means. But one that will prove to you sooner than you’ll realize. To those of you New and to those who have been here awhile, my story may help you. My husband and I moved here the 21st of May 2019. It was a rough patch but one that proved me wrong. OUR home meant the world to us, sound familiar? WELL it's a place with stuff, Stuff full of memories. So realize that home, that stuff, will never leave your memory! JUST KEEP IT CLOSE TO HEART! NOW on with it, My husband's health took a turn shortly after moving here, the staff were Super, support there for us day and night. But I want to express the friendships made neighbors, maintance and dinning smiles and hello's . meaning more than I can express. Prayer cards were abound. This past month it was my Health that took a change. Although it's not a solved diagnosis, I’m over whelmed with cards/ prayers. Daily greeting and well wishes abundant. My appointment this past week was stressful, only to find a sense of peace and love filling my heart. Calmness overwhelmed me, while waiting to see DRS. knowing that my fellow Springhill friends and neighbors were with me. So let me be clear if you put yourself out there and take time to be compassionate with others, it will follow you in return. PAY IT BACK! Where else could I be at this time of my life with this amount of SINCERE LOVE. I’m at a crossroads where THIS IS THE PLACE! I realize I alone could never be able to take care of our home inside and out. DON'T BE afraid to reach out whether staff or neighbor, TOGHTER we'll make it. A DAILY SMILE GREETING GOES A LONG WAY. THE ENDING: SPRING = SPRING TO A NEW BEGINNING HILL = A PLACE THAT IS HIGH BUT WITH ALL OF US CAN BE REACHED THIS IS THE RIGHT PLACE! AMEN

I was born and raised in Erie, PA. After graduating from Pen State in 1955 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I moved to Southern California to work in a division of North American Aviation. I married and raised a family there. That family is now scattered all over the U.S.A. and I am now a widower. I needed to move out of the big house that I was living in. I searched the Internet for places to move and discovered Springhill. It was in my hometown - many memories. I have relatives in the vicinity. Its advertisements appeared to meet my desires. I decided to try it and moved into one of their Garden Homes in 2017. It has been a great choice: I’m still driving a car so having an attached garage with direct in-to-house facilities means no cleaning of snow off your car after a snowstorm; the local roads and driveway are kept clear of snow; all the normal pain-in-the-neck household repairs are taken care of for you; the lawn and surrounding landscape is beautifully maintained; there are a multitude of group activities available; plus many more goodies. Another plus is: if age related problems creep up on me there are direct, and associated health related services available.

We love living here for the last 14 years! All of the staff and residents are friendly and helpful. Can you imagine just calling maintenance for any problem and having them come immediately and doing what needs to be done? Can you imagine not having any outdoor work to do - shoveling, lawn mowing or other landscaping? BUT, if you want to plant flowers or other plants, you are welcome to do it? Can you imagine not having to drive to the gym because you have aerobics and yoga classes and a gym nearby? Please consider Springhill. It is wonderful here!
