Our mom, Lois, lived at Country Meadows Allentown. Mom acclimated right away to the welcoming, caring, enjoyable community. The staff and the residents are friendly and helpful. The buildings and surroundings are beautiful. Mom was always treated with the upmost respect and love. We are very grateful for the wonderful experience that Mom and family had at Country Meadows Allentown.

My mom, who has dementia, recently transferred to County Meadows from another memory care center, and I can't being to express how wonderful the move has been. Mom's room is airy and spacious; since she had to provide her own furniture at the prior facility, Country Meadows allowed us to bring some of her own things and supplemented with their own furniture, and she loves her room. Laundry and housekeeping have been terrific (no lost clothing); the nursing and wellness staff are on top of issues and keep me up-to-date as to anything at all that is going on, while the onsite medical, dental, and podiatric care have been top-notch. There is always something going on for residents, and the atmosphere is very much that of a community. Staff turnover is minimal so most have been with the facility for a long time and genuinely care about the residents. Our transfer - which needed to happen quickly - was facilitated by the tireless Martie Haller, who moved heaven and earth to find a room for Mom and to make her transfer as quickly as possible. Martie was in touch with me every step of the way and made sure I knew what needed to be done and to keep me updated as to next steps. Martie was so responsive, kind, and generous in listening and helping us with our situation. Sarah Akintoye and all of the carers on-staff in Connections are - they are truly like family members. They care so very much for their residents. On my mother's first day, she sat down and was reading a newspaper, and one of the aides came up and asked her if she wanted to have her nails done. Mom was so surprised and grateful. At any given time, residents are participating in group exercise, singing, doing a cooking project, sitting on the terrace enjoying baby goats who had come to visit, watching a dog parade, or hosting children for trick-or-treating. It feels like a real community where all are welcome and treated with such love. And, on our first day, every single staff member knew my mother's name. I have experience with three memory care facilities, as both of my parents experienced dementia. While the other facilities were certainly very nice, they did not have the special feeling one gets at Country Meadows. The food is great (family members are invited to dine during visits), and family pets and grandchildren are always welcome (my preschool granddaughter gets spoiled rotten whenever we visit). I wish I had considered Country Meadows when my dad needed care, and before Mom moved into the first facility. Many facilities have high rates of staff turnover, not great communication, and very little stimulation for residents - I felt that her last facility was basically warehousing her, with little in the way of diverse activities. Caring for a parent with dementia is very, very difficult. We tried to care for my mom for three years after her diagnosis, and it simply became too difficult. We felt tremendous guilt about our decision, but since she has been at Country Meadows, I am finally able to relax, knowing that the care she is getting is better than what I could give. I am so grateful to Country Meadows for the life they are giving my mom.

I interact daily with a welcoming, caring and interested community of staff and residents who are becoming friends and extended family. I participate daily in well planned activities provided that stimulate and activate healthy growth, my primary goal. I feel safe, stress free, and comfortable here in my journey and new home.

With such a big move for my 83 year old Mother, obviously we were expecting bumps, challenges & a bit of a rough patch .... Country Meadows truly took all of that away. They are the nicest, most professional caring people I have ever worked along side of in a transition of this kind. They are super responsive, informative, and truly want your loved one to feel 'at home' in their facility. I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere there which is filled with activities, smiles and GREAT FOOD!!! Truly they OVER accommodate your loved ones needs. They really cannot do enough for my Mom; even with some of her [shall we say] qwerky requests. I would highly, highly, highly, recommend Country Meadows if you are looking for a 5 Star Retirement Village!! ....ask for Marte .. she is a god send!!!

My mother was very resistant to the idea of being in "an institution". However, when she fell ill during the early part of the pandemic, she required a hospitalization followed by acute rehab. She entered Country Meadows on 1 September 2020 as a "trial"---a continuation of her rehab. She was still pretty debilitated when she arrived, but through the tireless efforts of the Country Meadows staff, she has come a very long way. She has been there ever since and really loves it. She has a very comfortable one bedroom apartment and enjoys sitting with her friends at mealtimes (she loves the food and tells me of all the delicious choices!) in the dining room and in the common areas. The care is superb; everyone bends over backwards to help her and make her feel welcome and included. Country Meadows has been spectacular during the pandemic: extra cleanings, quarantines when necessary, communicating with residents and their families. I am very impressed with the care they provide and would recommend them without reservation.

My love for this special place is deep. Beyond the lovely decor and the friendly residents, its the kind folk who “work here” though I dare say it’s more a passion than a job. More than 20 years ago, my mother-in-law, originally from Pittsburgh, was living in a make-shift apt in my dining room, waiting for an apt. She was boosted to the top of the list when I had to have emergency surgery and taking care of her was no longer an option. Martie Haller said they’d find a way to make it work and indeed they did. Mom Kearney died there 18 months later, but totally independent as she always wanted to be! Seventeen years later my own Mom moved up from Florida and she also chose Country Meadows of Allentown. Martie again, now like a sister to me, took Mom under her wing until we found the perfect apt. And again Martie was there when Mom needed to move to personal care. And when Mom chose to come home with me for skilled care during Covid, Martie set up a ZOOM party for Mom’s 92nd with her best friends… and then rang our doorbell to drop off the cake and balloons for our celebration! Months later, when Mom finally passed I asked Martie if she could be with me to speak at Mom’s little outdoor private memorial service. Of course she said yes, and even brought the flowers. Even today, when driving by, I sometimes stop to visit Mom’s “girlfriends” because of course, they are mine too! And the staff still greets me like I’m family. Because I truly believe THEY believe I am.

My parent has been living at Country Meadows for over 4 years. It was a hard adjustment from a house to an apartment but she is happy, secure and well cared for. During the Covid-19 pandemic Country Meadows worked hard to keep my parent and the other residents safe. They communicate with our family and go out of their way to make sure that my parent is happy and no request for help has been too much. This was a great choice for our parent. Many thanks to Country Meadows and all the staff, especially Wendy!

Such a warm and inviting place. My parent has been treated with such respect from all of the staff. Our family has been treated the same way. The nurses and aids are great, professional and skilled. Our experience with Country Meadows has been nothing but a positive experience. The marketing staff was helpful, informative and not at all pushy when we first came to look at the facility. Since my mother has become a resident, all the members of the staff in independent living have done a wonderful job in making her new home a comfortable place. She always seems to be praising and complimenting the employees from food service, ministries, maintenance and resident services. We are so thankful for all that the Country Meadows team has done and continues to do for their residents.

Their #Food is awesome! And it matters, because their principle is that the elderly will come out of their apartments, and be more social with each other and more willing to open up if they have more interaction with the other people in their community. If they want to cook in their own kitchens, they can, but they also have an option to join others so they do not need to eat or #feelalone. Residents are permitted to have their own vehicles, yet if they do not want the upkeep of a vehicle or they do not feel like driving, there is transportation provided so the residents do not feel like they loose their independence ... (and the staff is kind and friendly too.)
