Summerfield is a terrific independent living facility in Tigard, OR. The apartment homes are nice, the building is maintained well and kept clean, the halls are wide, the meals are great, there is a library and a theater, there are many activities, the cost is reasonable, the staff are friendly and very helpful, and the residents seem to really feel at home. Plus it's close to shopping and restaurants and the Summerfield section of Tigard is great for walking. I'd highly recommend this place if your looking for a nice retirement community.

So happy with how Summerfield Estates Retirement has worked for and with my dearest friend Tina she is a long time resident. She has lived here for several years and they always go above and beyond. I love visiting her always as it’s so beautiful and well appointed. The outside is as lovely and well maintained as the interior. Her apartment is gorgeous and the food is incredible. Tina always comments on both the amazing staff and fellow residents here. The food is so delicious and always new selections alongside regular favorites. Summerfield does an incredible job and the staff is outstanding.

I thought the buydown would end up saving money in the long run. Instead, it ended up effectively raising our costs by an average of about $1250.00 per month. I moved my mom and dad into Summerfield after the rent at their prior place had become too high. The cost at Summerfield was lower, so I decided that we should make the move. I was initially hesitant to do the buydown, understanding that there is always a risk in doing such things. Since my parents were both in their 90s at the time, I asked the sales person if any amount of the buy-down would be refundable if the unthinkable happened (if one or both of them passed away). She did reply that the buy-down “states non-refundable However, historically there has been a few times where a refund was given. Our ownership is family owned, they have a lot of compassion for seniors and have a heart when it comes to decision making.” This put my mind at ease, and I, hoping that we could stretch their limited savings out a bit further, made the investment in the $5,000 buy-down, to reduce the rent even further (since I had been paying the difference between their social security and the remainder of their costs). Unfortunately, my father passed away only 3 months after moving in. My mother was no longer able to live independently and had to move into assisted living. Even though Summerfield made it seem like they would consider giving a refund if the “unthinkable” happened, in the long run, they did not seem to have any interest in returning any of my mother’s money. Very unhappy with this place. Also unhappy with myself for making a bad decision to do this buy-down. Bad choice on my part. I hope you will learn from my mistakes and do not do these ridiculous buy-downs. They are a scam. I would avoid any place that offers this.

From our initial visit with Angela in sales to my dad’s first weekend at Summerfield has been amazing. Over the weekend, Rebecca went out of her way to make the transition so smooth. My dad (and I ) has been blown away by how friendly and helpful the staff & residents are. Summerfield has made a very difficult time and transition into a very positive experience.

I have been living in Summerfield Estates in Tigard Oregon for over 1 year. Cannot praise our entire staff enough for providing all that live here with excellent service from the delicious food to the caring attutudes by all of them. It feels like like a big family. So happy and feeling lucky to have found a home here near my children and old friends. Kevin , Glenn, Angie and Mindy are wonderful in that they try to meet our every need. I have recommended Summerfield Estates highly as a great place to live to all my friends. One dear friend has already moved in!! Thank you, one and all for providing this wonderful life style!

This place is amazing! They do so much for the people that live there. They cover a lot of costs of stuff there for the price. Very friendly, atmosphere is really nice. I really hope my client gets to move in there.

My parents moved from Florida into Summerfield during the smoky days of September. After waiting three weeks for their furniture, the moving truck arrived with the most unpleasant driver, and only one other employee to offload. [It was Bekins.] The Director of Summerfield heard enough of a verbal exchange between me and this surly driver to immediately step in and quickly assemble four of his own employees to finish moving in my parents, thus saving my parents hundreds of dollars of additional fees Bekins wanted to charge for a long haul. Summerfield employees stepped in to carry every item to my parents apartment with a genuine spirit of helpfulness. I might add that Kevin (the Director) was right alongside his employees lifting and carrying the furniture. I am eternally grateful for the compassion and caring that started on day one and have been exhibited by each employee who greets me when I visit. This is a wonderful community staffed by genuinely good, kind people.

Ive been resident in Sunshines Summerfield Estates retirement community for more than three years. With an MBA and 30 years of management experience, I continue to be impressed with the measures our management takes to safeguard our health and well-being. And not just in times of crisis like this one. On an ongoing basis, in addition to our thorough weekly cleaning from our Housekeeping Staff, we also have a Common Area Housekeeper making sure that elevators and game rooms and railings are not just dusted but wiped clean and our hallways and exercise rooms vacuumed.However, the extraordinary measures our Staff are going to in order to keep us socially distant, individually occupied, and well-fed deserve a special mention. Our food here has always been consistently well thought out, nicely prepared, and beautifully presented. But to achieve that, put each meal into an individual box, and still get them to 150 rooms still warm has to set some type of record. I didnt take a picture of my breakfast this morning, but it was tasty and beautiful with a scrambled egg, sausage links, pancake topped with strawberries, and mandarin oranges accompanied by hot coffee and juice and was a delightful way to start another day of self-imposed isolation in my pretty apartment.With wi-fi, the Internet, streaming services, and daily puzzle packages from our Activities Director, I couldnt be bored if I wanted to be. With this kind of care, I am finding it easy to stay safe, occupied, and comfortable, and I continue to be grateful that I made the decision to move here.

I have lived at Summerfield Estates Retirement Community for 1 1, 2 years. I love it here and the staff are all pleasant, respectful, caring people. My one bedroom apartment is very light and clean. The building is locked and secure so I feel very safe here. There are many activities to participate in and a beautiful new movie theatre with movies every afternoon and evening. The food is delicious with three meals a day being served in an upscale dining room. There are Bingo games twice and sometimes three times a week. You have the option to participate in (or not) activities which I have found to be an excellent way to get acquainted with other residents. Bus trips to interesting places or to casinoes leaves every Wednesday. Usually the trip includes eating lunch at one of the areas restaurants. The apartment rent includes all meals, utilities, TV, water and sewer. It is so wonderful to never have to grocery shop, clean up kitchen, worry about yardwork and home maintenance ever again! This is a perfect place to live out my golden years.

Summerfield Estates is a great central location for a senior resident. Convenient shopping and medical facilities are close by. If you dont drive, thats OK because they operate a shuttle service to get you around. Three chef prepared meals a day, maintenance on site 7 days a week, weekly housekeeping plus a movie room with an 80in flat screen are just some of the things you will find at Summerfield Retirement Estates.

I have lived at Summerfield Retirement Apartments in Tigard, OR for 1 1, 2 years. They take wonderful care of us and the food is outstanding. Took two tours - lots of residents around, happy, engaged. Food was ok (would have like the salad bar to have more variety and protein). Its large and walking to, from front desk to room could be an issue for elderly. Friendly staff, however. They seemed really trying to connect with the residents.
