The best in the business! Krista Dennis Cardoza is their administrator and she is a self proclaimed "straight shooter!" It is true! She never misses. Decked out in leopard print and jersey shore style apparrel, the bombshell blonde has that place in immaculate condition from the gleam of the kitchen to the perpetually shampooed carpets that adorn the cavernous hallways. The aroma of the 5 star dining style cuisine wafts through the open vistas of Laura Street as passerbys dream of bringing their loved ones to a facility of such prestige and class. They are rarely short staffed and aparently the pay for care professionals is amazing. After all, they hire anyone and everyone! Best to get a flavor for all backgrounds. It really is an all inclusive atmosphere. And did i mention the care? Incredible! Families NEVER leave. And why would they? Every issue is immediately corrected and their documentation is flawless. I mean why would state ever tag them or put stop placements on their record??? Oh no!!! How could ya!!! See for your self and be amazed by the glamour, the radiance, and the calibur of the people they hire, and better yet, the ones they fire! 10 stars is more like it. Sarcasm? Why would ya!!!! Love the place!!!!!! It's a yes from me!!!

My dad has been a resident for almost 4 1/2 years. He recently went on hospice and needed a hoyer. This facility doesn't allow them and overall has gone drastically downhill. I've had no communication with them about this. Left messages myself and not getting a call or update or even when he has to move. This is crud. Now I have to put my dad thru the trauma of moving right after the emotional distress going on hospice takes on him.

Also I wanted to send in some Kudos: Shawna in memory care has always been great with my mom and the other day was a great example. On 6/23/21 I was going to take my mom to lunch. Shawna made sure that my mom had an opportunity to go to the bathroom before I took her out. Sierra also has been great over the past year. On 6/23 when i brought my mom to my house for lunch when I was getting her back I was helping my mom get from her wheelchair to her meriwalker and she saw me slightly struggling and came in and helped. Then she was so kind as I was leaving she asked my mom if she wanted to go out to the TV room and she walked her out. There are so many more. Thanks

Bayberry Commons is a good place. The management staff and residents are all one beautiful family unit in happiness and trying times. The rooms are bright and maintained particularly in the memory care and residents recieve high quality treatment from people who work hard to meet their daily needs. The beauty of Springfield is all around as assited living residents can walk the grounds freely and safely while memory care residents enjoy a secure private courtyard accompanied by their loving caregivers. Come try Bayberry for yourself. You will be glad you did.

I am a hospice employee for Brighton Hospice, and I go to various communities to offer spiritual care to our patients. The staff at Bayberry Commons was welcoming, friendly, and informative. When there was a medical crisis, they were prompt and communicative with their staff, the patient, and our hospice staff. We are so grateful we get to have an ongoing relationship with Bayberry Commons in providing amazing care!

Mu father spent his last years at Bayberry in comfort and dignity. A series of strokes left him with progressive dementia, which complicated the challenges the staff met professionally with compassion and care. I could not have sked for better for him. Thanks you.

The hiring practices are appalling! I have over 20 years experience in the assisted living/medical field, and during the interview process was told I would be an asset to the company. I love what I do, I have worked hard my whole life to improve the lives of my residents, and I genuinely love what I do. I do not choose to work at a job for status or popularity. It appears in order to work here though, that is a priority over everything. I was in fact hired, given a tour, met some of the staff, THEN met the DNS which apparently she didn't care for me which was perfectly clear given the hostile reception and the way she sized me up. Well, a few hours later when I was home, I get a phone call from the administrator who tells me she is "sorry" but "forgot" she already hired someone for the position. Not only was I absolutely shocked at this (I had already told my family that I had the job, and we were planning to go out to celebrate this, for I had REALLY wanted this job) but I was appalled at how unprofessional this seemed. I'm not stupid, I had already figured out what had happened. The second I pulled out of the driveway, I imagine there was a "pow wow" and based on my appearance, her "feelings" of me without even really knowing me, or whatever excuse they cooked up, they took it upon themselves to not give me the job after all. If this is how administrators make decisions, and treat people who are qualified, love what they do and have a passion for the residents, would you want these people making decisions for your beloved family member? My advice to you is to move on. Do you really think I give a damn about being “appropriate”? Let’s talk about that, shall we? Is it “appropriate” to hire someone and then call a couple hours later and LIE to them about why you decided not to after all? Don’t you dare tell me about what’s appropriate and what isn’t. I don’t lie like you do, and I have heard a LOT about you, so don’t go there with me.

My father has been at Avalon for a year. My mother and I researched memory care facilities in Austin and we by far thought Avalon was the best facility. It is small and all staff trained in memory care. It’s a beautiful facility and my father has received outstanding care. My mother and I have received so much support from the Avalon staff. We know the owners and staff well and they are outstanding! My Dad is doing so well and is happy. It’s been wonderful meeting the other patients and families. Most of all, Avalon knows how to work with memory care patients and their families. We are so grateful to Avalon for the amazing care to my father and the support they give to our family.

The staff at Bayberry is top notch! They provide excellent care for my loved one and go above and beyond everyday to help him. I would and do recommend this facility to any and everyone I have the opportunity to speak with. As to the hiring practices...I am glad they are picky because they care about their residents and want the BEST people to work for them.

My mother spent the last several years of her long life at Bayberry. I have to say, that before she got an apartment there, she and I had been through Assisted Living facilities in this area that were promised by experts in Elder Care to be some of the best. They were nothing less than nightmares - predatory places whose way of operating made it seem that their aim was to strip elders of their life's savings, while providing poor (or no) service in return. I had figured that Bayberry would just be a different 'flavor' of abuse, but I could not have been more wrong than that. The staff was competent, truly caring, and always took that extra step beyond what was needed to make my mother really enjoy living there. I think part of the reason she lived to such a ripe old age was this 'tenor' to Bayberry. I'll always be grateful to them. And, being in healthcare myself, I knew what to look for and what I was looking at. I don't understand how Bayberry gets the most competent personnel, and the most empathic ones, while other places in the same area don't begin to match up. But they do. And administration was always more than fair, and transparent!, about what she was charged for the level of care she received. Sorry this review is so long, but having been through the mill myself with my mother's care, I hope this is helpful to others in terms of choosing a place where he needn't worry about the quality of care they're receiving - the best, no contest!

A shout-out to the staff and administration at Bayberry Commons for their loving support of my mom over the past four years. Mom lived in the Memory Care area, which holds only 14 elders. I loved the small size, the well-trained, loving caregivers, and the low turnover in staff (so important for dementia care). Despite some pretty rough behavior on my mom's part at times, staff remained compassionate, caring and professional. The physical grounds are beautiful and respectfully maintained. The rooms in memory care are large and private, a rarity in the memory care world. Bayberry is well managed, with accessible administrators who provide clear communication, advice when asked, and more than once, a hug when needed. Most important, the sense that mom was part of a community, not a customer in a facility, made all the difference. Thanks, Bayberry, for all you did to make the last few tough years better for mom and for all of us.

I am far more interested in how the residents are treated and what the living conditions are than how employees feel about hiring practices and their pay scale. I hope they do not take their dissatisfaction out on the residents in their care.
