The staff are doing there best and are kind to me. This company needs to hire way more people so that the residents are cared for and the staff aren't over worked.

My father was a resident of highland for 20 days and I was not impressed with this facility. The facility is loud for starters and hard for my father to get any rest. When asking questions about my father's health the staff could not provide a direct answer. Most of the staff was nice and willing to help, but one particular staff member Stephanie was a horrible person. She was rude to me for no reason other than to impose her personal beliefs on me, She was also very rude to my father. In my opinion should not be in the healthcare industry, and should seek employment in a dark room where she does not have to interact with other people.

Sad place to be. Always short staffed. Some of the people working there are really nice, but their hands are tied. If you wish to skip a shower one day, have to sign a paper saying you refused to shower. Not at all pleased with my 2 week stay. Food is not good! One meal out of 3 is edible, and nobody cares. Big scoop of white rice, some cut-up tomatoes & onions & a glass of tomato juice, cup of coffee is not a balanced meal. Cereal w/brown sugar, cinnamon roll, orange juice & coffee is a sugar filled breakfast with no protein. Mercy! Treat a full grown adult like we're in kindergarten. I realize a lot of the patients are not as together as I am and that breaks my heart, because they can't stand up for themselves like I can. Would not recommend to Anyone!!! Nobody listens.Meds are often late. One night the Med Aid mixed up my roommate & my night/bedtime pills. She took mine, just made her sleepy, as only antidepressant that makes me sleepy. If I had not caught it as I didn't recognize the pills, it could have been bad news for me as she had some heavy duty medications. They just said sorry about that and laughed it off!!! Blew me away! If you have a choice do not put yourself or your family in this place. Sad!!!!

Highland House provided weeks of A+ care for my wife who needed rehab following brain surgery. Every aspect of her care was over the top. Thank you Sherri and all others who cared for my wife - your professional and quality care is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.

A very special thank you to all the staff at Highland House and Bristol Hospice. You all were amazing from the moment our Dad entered the facility and up until the day he left. Each and every staff member we encountered was caring, compassionate and more than willing to help with whatever our Dad needed. He was comfortable and well cared for there. He especially loved it when Tina would sing to him! Thank you all again. Sincere Regards, from the Family of Mr. Brown.

Great place, good food staff are very helpful and friendly.

Many staff did not speak English and thus there were many misunderstanding between my husband and them. There were many communication problems between the staff which created care issues. I had to take my husbands laundry home to wash because staff were not doing it often enough which left my husband and other residents without clean clothes. My husband has dentures and required assistance to clean them, which staff was informed of when he started his stay at Highland House; he got an infection and bleeding gums because staff didn't help him to clean his real teeth and dentures. I would not put a loved one in Highland House unless you can check on them daily to ensure adequate care.

I'm giving The Highland House 5 stars because of Doreen, the nursing staff, therapists, CNA's, housekeeping and everyone who has had a positive impact on my Dad. I'm grateful for the ones who advocated for my Dad so he could receive the best care today. I'm also grateful for the Veteran's Administration and everyone at the Highland House who appreciates our Veterans.

This is my mom's second stay at Highland House and both times they have worked themselves out of a job. Once again my mom has fully recovered. The licensed staff is OUTSTANDING: The physical therapist, laundry, food services, CNA's RN's, Maintenance, front desk ,Housekeeping, Admittance and Discharge planners and how could I forget the Activities Department and balloon volleyball! From Day One they all went out of their way to make my m om feel comfortable and cared for. This is the heart of highland house. It is truly and healing community. At 87 my mom will walk out of this facility on her own two feet! And looking forward to a new beginning. We are grateful for her recovery but sad to leave. Our hearts will always be at Highland House. I highly recommend this care facility.

I have worked for this company for 6 months and never been happier. The amount of compassion I see day to day from our staff and the loving home filled environment bring me to tears some days. This is 100% why I went into nursing over 10 years ago. I highly recommend this building and I am moving my own family member in this week. Proud Employ

I had reservations about my daughter being in a nursing home but since there I have found everyone there to be extremely supportive and a pleasure to work with. It's a very relaxing environment and the cna's have done a great job of making sure she recovers and has what she needs. The administrators there have gone overboard to help in transitions by making phone calls, and talking with me to help in anyway they can. The physical therapy she was there for was great and she is walking better than she was. I have seen great and positive interactions with other patients and am impressed.

Rehab facility needs updating
September 2017
I was recently released from Highland House after spending 20 days there for rehab. My experience was very positive. I felt the staff was always very friendly and helpful. The whole staff did whatever they could to make my stay as pleasant as possible, given the fact that they are almost always under a great deal of stress. The quality of the food was generally quite good. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because the food not as warm as I would have liked. Should you need to spend time in rehab give Highland House a try.
