I visit Touchmark at Pilot Butte multiple times a year and am always impressed. The staff is upbeat, friendly, and always helpful. The facility is very well maintained and the restaurant and lounge are first class. There seems to be multiple fun activities available throughout the day, both on site and off. The residents are very friendly and engaging, which, to me, is a reflection of how much they enjoy living there.

I have a few family friends that are currently staying there and I have to say, the facility and the staff have been great! The place feels welcoming and warm. The staff are the best part, always friendly and genuine. With the restaurant and pool on site, they joke they don't have to leave to do anything fun. I’ve looked at several retirement and assisted living places around central oregon- anticipating my moms eventual needs - I still don’t know if she’ll wind up coming to Bend but I’d show her Touchmark first and have told her about it. The facilities are very nice but what speaks to me more is experiencing the disposition of the guests/residents and staff. There’s a refreshing calm and happiness that I’m quite impressed with. I highly recommend the place if you’re looking.

I am a senior person and have been for some time. And, as all seniors know things happen to alter your lifestyle and living conditions as you get older. Thoughts about downsizing are common. But how to do it is the question. My wife and I are still dwelling on this but I do need to share a comment. I have been to Touchmark at Pilot Butte several times over the last several years. I know folks there. All those friends are there as part of a downsizing decision. And they are very happy. The place is immaculate. The food is great. The list of activities is endless. Service is at your fingertips. It’s very proximate the great medical care. It’s a nice place. If you are thinking of downsizing I recommend you take a look at Touchmark. Gary Sorenson

I rarely post comments on Google - but if I find extraordinary service or products, I feel it’s important to share my thoughts. I have visited Touchmark at Pilot Butte several times over the past 5 years to visits friends and to consider my forever home in retirement. I compared them with a number of other facilities in Central Oregon I had visited and I’ve been blown away by their genuine care of residents and visitors alike. Their food is outstanding. Furnishings are beautiful. Live music at Happy Hour, a gorgeous pool, billiards, and community trips leaves me wondering why I don’t sell my property and start living retirement as it should be - luxury. I’m jealous, period. Hands down, the best facility in Central Oregon.

This is a beautiful modern facility in a great part of Bend. I think what sets it apart from other similar communities is that there is so much to do for active residents, from organized regular events to great onsite activities and facilities.

Why We Chose Touchmark at Pilot Butte Homelike Atmosphere We have had the opportunity to visit this community several times, and every time we are impressed with the helpful professionalism of the staff and management Pilot Butte has an appealing layout with wide hallways, fireplaces, sitting areas. The rooms are bright and spacious with a modern style. We were introduced to several couples on our over-night visits and enjoyed them all as folks we would like to live with. The opportunity for socialization with pet groups and bridge groups was very appealing to us. Excellent Food and Dining We experienced informal dining at the Wally bar and formal dining at the ALX restaurant and found each to be appealing with a wide variety of menu choices at attractive prices. Professional Recruitment Process We have interviewed several options for senior living and the recruitment process at Pilot Butte was far and away the best. Kimberly Blackwell was always informative and responsive with a kind manner and sense of humor that complemented her professional approach. Every staff member seemed pleasant and appeared to like the working environment.

I frequently visit Touchmark at Pilot Butte and honestly love the vibe. It feels warm and inviting, and both residents and staff seem happy to be there. The residents are active, and it really just feels like a nice place to live and enjoy independent living. If my mother was ready for a community living situation this is the only place in Bend I would want her to be a part of.

I have lived at Pilot Butte for 6 months now...& must say it's like living in an elegant hotel...with spacious common areas that are well appointed...complete with wonderful indoor pool classes, a beauty salon, workout room & friendly residents. Teri does a great job of listening to resident's needs. Bri does an exceptional job of providing shopping & events to keep the most active senior entertained. The movie theater is exceptional...with resident input encouraged. Popcorn always available! The weakest link is the quality & variety of the food, as agreed to by most residents. Food is not readily available 2 days of the week, aside from pre-ordering take-out. The wait staff is excellent.. Medical shuttle transportation is most appreciated.

I have now completed almost four months residency here at Touchmark Pilot Butte and so far this facility is outstanding. It appears to me that we have a well trained and professional management and care staff across all areas. When looking to rent, the well appointed and roominess of common areas on all of our four residency floors is marvelous and inviting. As an exercise enthusiast the gym, pool, sauna and changing areas are tops. The Movie Theatre, conference rooms, dining areas are also pleasant. We moved to Bend from the east coast to be closer to our children and grandchildren (not an uncommon reason). After thoroughly researching senior living facilities, we decided upon Touchmark at Pilot Butte. We have been nothing but delighted. The facility itself is exceptional providing apartments ranging from studios to two bedrooms with a den and balconies in a single building. There is a large indoor pool, a fully-equipped exercise facility, theater, dining room, rec room with regulation pool table, and more. The center of activity is Wally's, the bar and eatery on the second floor. It's a very busy place. What really sets this Touchmark facility apart is the exceptional staff and service. They are hardworking, friendly and dedicated to seeing that every resident is well-served and happy! Touchmark at Pilot Butte is really worth checking out if you are in the market for senior living at its best in Bend.

Touchmark at Pilot Butte is an outstanding senior living facility. Relatively new”5 years, it is spacious and well planned with central meeting areas on all floors. These areas have fireplaces or aquariums and generous seating areas. The ALX dining room is elegant, while the Wally Bar is friendly. The menu is the same at either location and the food is excellent. The Touchmark staff is friendly and caring, many have been with this location since it was built. Touchmark as a company celebrated their 45 anniversary this year, so they have excelled in the Senior Living/care market for almost half a century”they know how to make a quality facility and staff it with competent, caring management. We interface with management daily; they are open to all questions and suggestions. When we moved to Touchmark Pilot butte in August 2025, we were pleasantly surprised by the outgoing friendliness of the residents. The past 3 years at Touchmark at Pilot Butte have enhanced my life. One important enhancement is the opportunity to meet and develop a new set of friends and acquaintances. The amenities have provided the perfect venues for this. For me, there is a 9 foot regulation pool table in the game room. Another, is the swimming pool. They work hard not only on the big things, also take care of the little things - staff knew me by first name within a day of being there. We did extensive research for an independent living facility for my husband’s 90 year old father. We felt Touchmark, Pilot Butte fit many of the needs and wants he had. We wanted him to enjoy activities, meet new people, be free from the worry of cooking meals, and enjoy this new adventure. Touchmark worked with us every step of the way making my father in laws transition as smooth as possible. The staff communicates very well amongst each other regarding their guests as well as with the families who may need to know the well-being of their relative in this community. There was never a moment when we didn’t feel welcome at this beautiful location and when we needed to move my father in law out, due to declining health issues, we felt as though we were leaving behind a family. Choosing a place to send a family member should be based on, Would we live here? Both my husband and I would absolutely move into Touchmark, Pilot Butte if we were at a point in our lives to do so. Choosing this location, is highly recommended and you will have no regrets as you enjoy the next journey in your life or that of your loved ones.

There are so many good things about this place that I'm sure I won't touch all of them. Number 1 is the staff. Teri, the general manager, is such a caring -- and efficient -- person who knows all of us by name and circumstance. Teri and the whole staff have all become friends as well as people who take care of our needs. I moved in the first day it opened as The Alexander. It is definitely home to me after six plus years I think we must have the best cooks in tiwn. I think the food is very good. The specials are great, and if the special is not to your liking, there are many choices on the regular menu. One more big plus I have to mention: We have our own washers and dryers in our apartments. A full kitchen also adds to the convenience. All the comforts of home, as they say. I didn't get to the activities, which are many. They are many.

Touchmark is an amazing place to live. The number of amenities include swimming pool and spa, movie theater, library and game room. The amenities coupled with the employees of Touchmark at Pilot Butte enables me to use the words “a rewarding experience”. Community living at Touchmark at Pilot Butte is enhanced in a positive way which starts with the Executive Director, Teri Cilley and her team. The team concept is on display every day as this team attempts to make the aging process a positive & rewarding experience for myself and the other residents. Moving to The Alexander has been a wonderful experience for us. Beautiful place to live with great food, activities and a wonderful staff.... It's been one year since I wrote this review, and I'm finding that I feel even more at home. I have made great friends and we have an activity director that is dynamite! We have excellent creative things to do on a daily basis. I like the staff, I feel they try really hard to make things work as well as possible. Our General Manager Teri is amazing, she works very hard to hire good people but at this time it is very difficult (since Covid). I feel like we are in the right place, it is safe, clean and we are home.

We have lived at The Alexander for about a year and a half and have been very happy. The staff is friendly and helpful. The chefs and serving staff go out of their way to ensure that we have a good experience. We have a friend who says she likkes to visit us becuase we have the best retaurant in town. A little over three years ago when I was 86 my main concerns were my health and balance, institutional food (I've had a lot of that and didn't want it anymore), and socializing. Those are the main things to focus on when being concerned about maintaining health when you age. It has been one year since our last review, and all of these concerns have been addressed. Over the past year my balance has improved through the help of the certified trainer on staff here, Cody does and excellent job. The food is prepared specifically for us, to our taste and made to order. Each floor has a common area, and we have many resident driven activities like the Socratic Cafe, skits and card games. We also have a lot of activities planned by the staff. Donna and I also enjoy going down to the Liz Cafe once in awhile for breakfast.

We chose the Alexander because we were more than delighted at everything we saw and heard. We found this facility to be a wonderful surprise at every turn. After the tour we knew in our hearts that this was our future home. The staff and residents are quickly becoming our good friends. We are yet to feel our first hint of regret. In addition to the many amenities here at the Alexander; theater, gym, pool, and beautiful dining room, I love my apartment! It is charming and cozy with a fireplace, full kitchen, and walk-in closet. Dining options include the Alex dining room, Wally Bar and Liz Cafe with many menu choices. The food is top-notch! A myriad of activities are offered every day, including outings on the Alexander bus, games, movies, art classes, and many more. There's even an onsite beauty salon and barber shop! I have met some of my all-time best friends here at the Alexander, including the staff!

We have lived at The Alexander for a year. It has been a wonderful experience. We have lived in Bend since 1973 and been retired for 20 years. Jerry as a surgeon and Julie as a teacher. We lived in this same area of town all of the time we were here and The Alexander was an easy choice. With medical care within walking distance and rides available to those who don't drive. We have found the staff friendly and helpful and are sorry they have had to deal with these times of difficult employment that is everywhere. We have lived on two floors and find each one feeling like a family. The activities are amazing and the facilities first rate. The pool is a gift which we didn't imagine and the gym and classes to keep us healthy as we age outstanding. . . as well as the trainer to keep us safe. We have been happy with the food and the three dining areas. It is hard to imagine that retirement living could feel so warm and luxurious. We are fortunate.

I looked at a few communities before finding The Alexander and right away the amenities and decor drew me in. The second thing I liked was all of the activities. I’ve made so many nice friends and met so many nice people since moving here. The staff couldn’t make any more effort to please, I have never had anyone who didn’t go out of their way to provide great service. I particularly like the food arrangements - the food service and wait staff are fantastic. The General Manager Teri works hard and jumps in to help whenever needed. It is great to have my apartment cleaned every two weeks and maintenance is extremely responsive when something happens in my apartment, they are very prompt. It is an extremely happy place and I’m glad I made the decision to make this move.

We were living in Arizona but we wanted to return to Oregon, and we knew Bend would be a good location for us. We looked at other community options in the area, but thought The Alexander was the best fit, it surpassed anything else we saw. We thought the building was very attractive and were impressed by the amenities like the pool, gym, and movie theater. You can be as busy as you want or as laid back as you want, it’s very much like living on a cruise ship, but the scenery doesn’t change much! We also enjoy the sociability factor and having access to a private dining room to entertain friends. It is neat and clean here, and we give kudos to the management team for really stepping up when COVID made things so difficult with staffing, they are always willing to jump in and do whatever needs to be done. The current activities director is a real asset, we have such a variety of things to do and the location is also very convenient to medical services and shopping.

No more house and yard to maintain, no shoveling snow, or looking for people to make repairs or maintenance work. We think The Alexander is not only a 5-star facility, it is perhaps the best in Central Oregon. Our first year here we could not find fault with a five-star rating, however, this past year we have experienced some slide particularly with food and food service from staff shortages and turnover. We are confident that management are working to resolve that issue. We currently rate The Alexander at 4 1/2 stars largely because of the staffing issues which we think will be temporary.

Sold our house & moved in July 2022 to our forever home at The AlexanderBend. No more house & yard maintenance, a nice kitchen as well as 3 dining venues, fitness center & classes, pool, movie theater, kind neighbors, & friendly staff dedicated to making our senior lifestyle a blessed experience.

The Alexander is a beautiful place to live but it is the staff that makes it a home. From the management to the kitchen staff to the housekeeping, everyone has been friendly as they go out of their way to help and care for the residents. There are many fun activities to involve and entertain the residents. My father lived here for 2 years and I highly recommend the Alexander for its caring staff, great location, and tasty restaurants.

My in laws were one of the first to be residents there. As we searched for retirement living we were told by the Alexander that they would adjust to people’s dietary and allergy needs. We were told there wasn’t charging for maintenance. We were told that there would be driving services. My in laws went in with the understanding that these things would occur. They were there for almost two years hoping for changes, yet it didn’t occur. They were charged every time something needed to put up on a wall. They did not adjust to dietary needs with the reason that they are an independent living and don’t need to. Many of the spices and items were already in the sauces and they didn’t make other sauces without knowing residents could need have it. There seems to be a high turnover of kitchen and fitness staff. Since covid everything has been virtual and very limited interactions. They do have drivers but only on Tuesday’s and Fridays and to limited places. During the height of covid they didn’t provide any drivers services, which made it challenging for those who can’t drive. While the rooms are nice and the place is clean, we had to move my in laws elsewhere because the food was very limiting and what they told us it would be like did not come to fruition. Look elsewhere if you have any food allergies, sensitivities, or need any driving concerns.

The Alexander is one of those places that you know is special the minute you walk in the door. The staff is incredible, caring and kind, and the way it is decorated and furnished is several notches above any other apartment community I have ever visited. I don’t even know where to begin about the food! The variety and quality of what they offer in the restaurant, bar and cafe is amazing, not sure how they do it really. If you haven’t checked this place out yet run... don’t walk as I hear their apartments are filling up fast!

I 've been here for just 5 days, and I LOVE being here. The employees are all outstanding, warm, friendly and love helping out when asked. The rooms are beautiful and the food is fantastic. I can't say enough about The Alexander.. I have made a wonderful decision in deciding to retire here.

What a gem! This is the place to be if you want an activity filled complex with a warm & caring staff waiting to be of help to dining at a cafe or Wallys bar. The Alexander restaurant serves fresh, creative food in a beautiful appointed that would compete with a 5 star restaurant anywhere else. From yoga/water aerobics/ sauna/hiking/ to library/ roof top views with fireplaces- the opportunities for Fun and relaxation are - endless! Check out the Alexander today!
