My mom arrived there December of last year. She has settled quite nicely with a group of Portuguese friends. We appreciate the friendly faces both residents and staff. It's a comfort to know she's cared for and they understand her day to day activities. Seeing her in this environment and getting to know staff and residents when I visit is very reassuring we found the right spot for her. From dining room staff to nursing, doctors and overall community of helping hands. It takes a Village. A clean and safe environment. High 5 to All. Thank you.

My grandmother lived at New Horizon's for six years. My daughters and I would visit every week. My grandmother was sharp in mind and very depressed by her quarters. She had no history of depression previous to that. The way she was treated by the staff left her feeling very down. They didn't care if her food was cold or if there was something in edible on her plate. My worst memory was the huge population of cockroaches in her room. She didn't even have a kitchen but there was a steady parade of them. I have an image of my daughters in their brownie uniforms, gleefully stomping them in her room when we visited. I had to set traps and chalk the room to try and help my poor grandma who was losing her sight and could not see them . I don't think I would ever recommend this place, it was a bad memory in our lives.

I cannot say enough good things about New Horizons, my mother's home for the last few years of her life. She loved it , and so did my family. The staff at all levels were warm, respectful, and caring; the level of commitment to the resident experience was extremely high. The food was fantastic; the whole family looked forward to joining my mother for meals there. The activities on offer were varied and didn't insult people's intelligence. My mother made some very good friends there; people make a real effort to reach out to new residents. The rooms may not have been fancy or the facilities as elaborate as some places I toured, but the quality of the staff and the atmosphere were far superior to the many, many retirement homes we visited. It really felt like a home and a community. M. Stevenson

December 2025 Update My sister had a very enjoyable stay at NHT for 7+ years under the care of the Terrace staff who had been attentive, responsive, friendly and caring. Her needs were well attended to and I highly recommend NHT for both retirement or assisted living. (7 years ago, re: retirement living) Nice building, good facilities, friendly staff and extensive recreation programs! Excellent neighbourhood with great public transit, everything within walking distance....what more can one ask for? Thank you so much New Horizons !

Both my adopted mother and father were residents, first in their own unit going down to the dining room for meals which were always balanced and varied, then latterly my father in Assisted Living until he passed at 103. Here he had a nurse's team who supported his every need - and whim, always with a smile - along with weekly visits from a competent doctor - all of whom were very communicative with me. Staff throughout the residences were very personable and helpful. There are constant activities and special outside trips for every taste promoting social, brain, physical and emotional health. New Horizons Tower was a godsend for me as I live 3 hours from Toronto; I felt my parents were safe and happy here.

Our mother had more than seven happy years of her life at New Horizons Tower before passing away in August. We have only good things to say about the facilities, programs and, particularly, the compassionate and attentive care she received from staff. As she came to be in her last months and days on the memory care floor (the Oasis), the staff made sure that we also received that same compassion. These are people who are both trained and inclined to meet the needs of residents (and family) no matter where and how they are. We have no hesitation in recommending New Horizons to others.

We are sad to be out of the NHT community. My mom was loved and well cared for there, but after a fall and concussion, she was no longer able to return to her independent living apartment and unfortunately there were no spot on the Oasis floor when we needed one. Once we knew that a move was imminent, we began gently prepping her during the end of her hospital stay that she would be going to her new home (we needed to spring her from the hospital ASAP) so by the time the move happened she was expecting not to be returning to NHT and her beloved "place". The number of times she said she wanted "my place" while in hospital is a tribute to how well-settled she became at NHT. She has a beautiful new space on the Memory Care Floor of another great facility in Mississauga, and we lucked out with a unit large enough to still have most of her furniture from NHT as well. The programming there is specific to residents with Alzheimer's/Dementia/other cognitive challenges and it has been great for her. NHT has great programming for their independent living residents, which she would have loved 5-10 years ago, but she wasn't able to participate at this stage of her disease, and that left her with only (very!) frequent walks as daily stimulation. That was an adjustment for sure. The fact that she was no longer able to leave at will was challenging at first, but she adjusted and and has visitors who have take her out for walks quite frequently. Robin from NHT was lovely enough to check in with us a few weeks after moving out of NHT to see how my mom was doing, which is an illustration of the care that she received while she lived there. Thanks again to Robin and all the staff at NHT. You were HOME to my mom for the past two years.

Our mother moved in a couple of years ago from St. Hilda's Towers after they closed for renovations and discontinued their care residence. New Horizons has turned out to be an amazing place for our mom. She's on the 3rd floor "memory residents" where she gets friendly and attentive care. The staff are absolutely amazing! They have our mother dressed nicely and always looking her best. They engage her in her favourite game (Scrabble) which she still wins regularly! New Horizons in super-clean, well organized, and always cheerful. We're very lucky our mother is so happy there.

Over the past 16 years, Move Seniors Lovingly has assisted many senior clients and their families in their move transition into New Horizons Tower. Many of our clients chose New Horizons due to its easy access to the Bloorline subway, the impressive food prepared by their own chef, the streetview cafe and the friendly staff. The feedback from our clients has always been positive. We will continue to suggest New Horizons Tower to senior clients searching out a new home in Toronto. We are so glad that our mother had the good fortune to live at New Horizons Tower for 8 years. The care she received was kind, compassionate and attentive throughout the time that she lived there, which included the pandemic. Everyone was exemplary and fulfilled their responsibilities with care and thoughtfulness. It was a true home for our mother and a blessing for which we are all grateful. I highly recommend this retirement residence without hesitation.

My Husband's Aunt lived here for several years. The location was perfect right on the subway, building was very clean, and the food was fantastic - but what we appreciated most was the caring staff!
