I have now had 2 family members in Shawnee Memory Care and I highly recommend them. The facility is beautiful and clean. The staff is friendly, loving, and helpful. Memory issues can be very difficult for family to handle around the clock. When the assurance of 24 hr care is needed, Shawnee Memory Care can supply that peace of mind. I am now able to enjoy my family member in this stage of life knowing the care needed is always there to support her. We are very thankful for Shawnee Memory Care and the staff!

We have our mom at SMC. The staff there is amazing. From the beginning when we met with them, they were so helpful with getting her all set up to come there. They worked with us and answered so many phone calls. The staff that cares for our mom is amazing. Every time we come by, they are treating her with loving care. They often have her smiling and laughing. They know us by name and are always so friendly and helpful. They remember that she is a real person with feelings and fears, they don't just treat her like a patient. We are very happy with the care and attention she receives.

These fine folks looked after my Dad until he passed in December 2023. I don't know all of the staff there, but everyone took great care of my Dad on a personal, one on one level. Not only did the staff carefully and graciously look after my Dad, but they also cared for my Mom, making sure that she had a vital support network. Thank you to all the staff at Shawnee Memory Care.

My mom spent the last 2-years of her life with Dementia and lived here. The staff was excellent and they made everything manageable through Covid. They always kept me up-to-date on her health issues and I was always included in her care. I highly recommend Shawnee Memory Care!

Everyone here seemed to genuinely care for my mother who was there for a few months. As with anyone with dementia she had good days and bad days but the staff gave her attention either way. I lived close enough that I could visit her daily so I was able to observe many of the staff interacting with her. At times the staffing was a little short but I think that is probably, unfortunately normal in any kind of care facility.

My wife has been living at Shawnee Memory Care for over two years (as of the time of this posting). She has received excellent treatment from a caring and professional staff. As their name implies, Shawnee Memory Care provides tailored services oriented towards residents with dementia. They offer special services that are generally not needed at assisted living residences that are more aligned with caring for physical limitations. Some important differences between Shawnee Memory Care's residence and others I considered: - Controlled access to ensure that residents don't wander off. While the other facilities provided enough nursing assistance, most did not control the exits and there was nothing to keep dementia impaired residents from simply walking out of the residence and wandering off. - Clean, comfortable, and odor free living and common areas. The appearance, furnishing, and dining area is more like what you normally find in a nice hotel versus an institutional facility built for functionality. Housekeeping is performed continuously. - The food is good, and meals are prepared according to the needs of each resident. Meals are served in a comfortable setting complete with home style dining room furniture, tablecloths, cloth napkins, and real dinner ware. - Recreational/"life enrichment" activities are provided every day and are structured to accommodate the abilities of the residents. - There is a safe room to protect residents from severe weather. If a severe weather warning is posted, the residents are relocated to the safe room until the warning is canceled. - Commonality in life situation among the residents. I hadn't thought about this before observing for a while, but even though most of the residents are limited in their cognitive abilities, there seems to be a "birds of a feather" relationship among them. They interact with each other and show friendship without any judgement based on ability or need for conversation. During the years that I was the care giver for my wife, she was stuck in my world. When she moved into Shawnee Memory Care, she had a whole community to be with and she seemed to enjoy the company. I imagine that if it was a community where many of the residents needed physical care vs cognitive care, the residents might tend fracture into groups based on cognitive ability there would not be the same level of community wide acceptance and interaction. During the years that I was my wife's care giver, I dreaded the thought of the day that I would have to move her into a care facility. She moved in without any issues. I think she immediately enjoyed being with other people again and being free to roam around. She has never asked to return home, which had been a huge fear for me. I highly recommend Shawnee Memory Care to anyone looking for a dementia care residence. It has been good for she and I both.

From the first time we started looking into Shawnee Memory Care, everyone was kind, supportive and considerate. We felt very confident in the care that Mom would receive. I have been there at all different times and various days of the week. Every time the staff are involved with the care of the residents!! It’s not any easy job caring for people in the shape and various stages, but they do and 99% of the time with a smile! Morgan always takes care of the maintenance needs quickly and Marissa is always smiling. Jamie and Leota take good care of the folks and you can tell they really care about the residents. I feel confident in the care my mom receives and where she is now!!

I have been very pleased with the response to any concerns that we have had about my loved one who lives at Belfair. The staff are always nice and respectful, even taking time to answer me during their off time. They are very personable, greet me with a smile and usually have a funny story to tell me about my loved one. My loved one seems to be very happy which makes me happy!
