Reviews Iris Memory Care of Nichols Hills
January 2024
My dad was transferred over here in May 2022 until end of August 2022. Back then it called Storey Oaks. They keep me updated day to day more than once a day on how dad was doing. Unfortunately he only had a short time there he had in there he was taken care and they loved on him made him feel important. They did everything possible for him. Thank you for taking care of him and treating him like family. I'm sorry to give you the bad news he passed away October 2022.

Suzy is an incredible nurse. All her patients are her #1 priority. Her passion for the healthy both physical and mental wellbeing is beyond words. I would highly recommend her to any member of my family and/or friends. Thank you, Suzy, for being the best of the best in your field.

I toured this facility and I was so impressed! It was spotless and beautiful and bright and cozy inside. The staff was kind, the residents looked happy and well-cared for, and there was a great balance of activity and calm.

Iris Memory Care received an award this year for being in the top 5% in the NATION for Memory Care. Although they are not perfect (no facility is) they certainly deserve this award. During the two years my wife has been a resident I always observe kind and patient care from the staff. I can't imagine having my best friend being anywhere else.

If you need memory care for a member of your family, I encourage you to visit Iris Memory Care of Nichols Hills. Iris was recommended to me by my husband's neurologist, and I could not have been more satisfied with the facility and the care. You will immediately recognize that members of the staff are dedicated individuals who are passionate about the work they do. Whether it is the Executive Director Jolinda, the Wellness Director Suzy, the Life Enrichment Director Ana or caregivers like DaDa and Cade, it is evident that each resident is treated with compassion and respect. Another plus is the ease with which you can interact with staff by phone, text, or in person. You become part of the Iris family. As I greeted individuals who attended my husband's Celebration of Life Service, I was surprised and pleased that Jolinda and Suzy were there. That was very meaningful to me. I am grateful for Iris Memory Care.

My Mother is staying at the Iris Memory Care facility in Dallas and we couldn't be more pleased. Apparently the same ownership has recently taken over this facility and presumably it will be just as awesome as the one in Dallas. We couldn't be more pleased with the staff for the past three years as Mom has thrived in the positive environment.

New management as of 2022. Staff is very diligent and caring. They plan so many awesome activities. They have a great inter generational program. Definitely Recommend.

I don’t know where to start. This has been one of the most difficult times of our lives, but we can only guess how hard it’s been for our Dad. Through it all, Jolinda and her staff have been there; guiding us, comforting us, and caring for our father. Deciding to put a loved one in care is excruciatingly difficult. Dad was always insistent that his children not try to care for him ourselves, but of course we just waved it away. We’re going to do it ourselves, we insisted. He was never pleased by our assertions, but after caring for our mom years ago until he could no longer do it, he knew something that we didn’t know; there will come a time. He was right. That’s where Iris Memory Care of Nichols Hills came in. I’ve tried over the last several months to collect the names of all the caring and devoted people that work here so that I can list them by name, but there are just too many and I don’t want to leave anyone out. Without exception, from laundry, to cafeteria, to housekeeping, to activities, to maintenance, to front desk, to caregivers, it’s just exceptional care for the cost. I had to ask one young caregiver how he did such an incredibly demanding job with the care that he’s shown not just my Dad, but everyone I’ve seen him interact with. His reply: “I treat people just as I would hope to be treated some day.” And he’s not the exception. In my experience, he’s the rule. I’m here daily. I’m a quiet observer. I have no complaints. Yes, there are difficulties. Yes, it is hard. No, it’s not perfect. Yes, I personally see to my Dad’s small preferences and tiny details. That’s what family is for. My father is safe and comfortable and looked after 24/7 by the staff here and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you Jolinda and staff. You have no idea how much I appreciate you all.

Recently assisted a family seeking memory care and they moved to Iris. The family has been extremely happy with the staff and programing geared for cognitive challenges. Perfect place for a loved one.

Placing a loved one in memory care is such a difficult decision. When our mother moved to Iris in Nichols Hills, Jolinda and her team showed our entire family kindness and compassion. They have activities and so many services to support the residents but the thing I will always remember is the gentle way the staff cared for our mom. They took time to speak to her and let her know what was happening next. They spoke to her about the things she loved. They sang songs with her and treated her with compassion. Their excellent communication with our family about her needs helped us feel peace about a very difficult situation.

My husband was a resident at Iris Memory Care in Edmond for 3 years. I found the staff to be well trained, engaging, patient and caring. The management team was outstanding. They were immediately responsive to any concerns and always willing to step in wherever there was a need. I researched several facilities before placing my husband at Iris and never had any regrets.

New management took over start of 2022. They took excellent care of my FIL during his stay. The staff was amazing and kind snd professional. They helped us navigate hospice care when it was time and worked with hospice so we did not have to move our Loved One at the end. I'm grateful for the love and care and many times they went above and beyond.

I brought my loved one to Storey Oaks 4 months ago. I go and check on my loved one daily. Upon my arrival of placing my loved one, the staff immediately asked my loved ones name and also mine. I have been so impressed that all employees from the kitchen staff, custodial staff and the staff attending to daily needs of the residents, call me by name and always my loved one by name and need. Everyone has been so helpful and loving to our family. After losing my mother to Alzheimers, I know how difficult the disease is to care for for family and the staff that attends to our loved ones. The patients can be difficult and hard. During these hard times, I have seen the staff love patients and talk them down during difficult times. I couldnt be more impressed with the staff at Storey Oaks. If my mother were still living, I would have placed her in the care of Storey Oaks.
June 2018
My mom is a new resident at Storey Oaks. The experience from when Scott came to evaluate her and spent a lot of time with me talking about what she likes and what helps to soothe her anxiety to them coming back later the same day to pick her up in their van and then getting her settled in her room was so nice and comforting to me. From the moment we wheeled her through the door the staff welcomed her by name and she, who constantly wanted to leave the nursing home she was in, has not once asked me to take her home. She is in a place where all the other patients have the same disease. No one laughs at her. No one makes her feel like she is different. The staff are trained to live with Dementia-Alzheimers patients. They know how to work with Sundowners. The food is great, the activities keep them involved and its a good, clean, safe haven for my mom. I see her almost every day and can eat lunch or dinner with her. If you have a family member who needs memory care you should check Storey Oaks out. Im glad I did!
August 2017
We moved my dad to Storey Oaks in Jan 2017. This place was a God-send for our family. To start off, the Administrator and the Community Relations Director both came to assess my father after hours. The were so respectful and kind. The absolute best thing about Storey Oaks is the personnel. They are so kind and very respectful. You are greeted with a beautiful smile and a happy person every time you come. The meals are very good and the chef comes out and visits with the residents each meal. The activities director encourages them to do the activities each day. There are lots of activities to choose from. The facility is very fresh smelling; no smell of urine ever. It is always clean. The nursing care is outstanding. My dad is groomed ( shaved, teeth brushed and hair brushed) every day. They are excellent at keeping him clean and looking good. The administrator is the best I have seen. He comes out of his office and visits with the residents and the families. They all feel like family. They treat the residents with respect and as if they were still at the top of their careers in the working world. I see the staff touch the residents all the time. A touch on the shoulder to let them know you care goes a long way. The nursing staff have questioned us about the things my dad liked to do and what his work was. They also have been very good to get to know us (the family) as well as my dad. The residents all seem happy and its a great community of friends. The laundry is done often and each rooms laundry is done separately so we have had nothing missing. The staff all seemed to be trained to work with Alzheimers and dementia patients. The soft music and all the extra touches they provide are a big step above and beyond any of the other places we have looked at. They are excellent at handling your loved one if they get upset or just not having a good day. As one of the nurses told me we go into their world. They have a caregivers group that meets once a month. This is a good time to discuss all the changes happening to you and your loved ones. They also have family get togethers. They encourage the families to meet and get to know each other. We have been there a short time so far, but we havent had any complaints. They all do a great job. One last thing that we really appreciate is -- you do not see any of them sitting around on their phones. They all communicate with the residents and make them feel like they are the most important people ever.

As a present staff member, I can honestly say this is the most compassionate facility I have ever worked in!! The staff from the start are trained adequately on job expectations and about Dementia-Alzheimers and how to help our loved ones ( because they become our family too.... ) Transition through the progression of this illness. I work with an amazing group of men and women dedicated to keeping the spark alive ( so to speak ) in our loved ones, as to promote the fullest life possible!!! Our administrator constantly engages us in wanting to become better educated in this field to better the lives of those we care for!!! How awesome is that! Who else takes knowledge is power and both he and the RCD promote in every day! I love this my job, I love my co-colleagues, I love my bosses, and more importantly, I LOVE my Loved Ones!
