I came for the "Understanding & Responding to Dementia" event, which was open to the public. As a caregiver to my husband, I found the event very insightful. The whole campus is beautiful, and specifically the Lakeside Assisted Living facility is incredible. The staff there were very welcoming and helpful with any questions I had. The lunch was great!

I want to give a huge shout out to the Normandy and their staff especially Emily, Whitney, Keshawn and Davinci who all had a huge part in my uncle’s care. From start to finish, I had to do absolutely nothing but visit because everything was taken care of for us. They paid close attention to our needs and took over from there. I could not ask for better care than what we are receiving and that also includes his team of occupational and physical therapist. Thank you all for the smooth transition from the hospital to your facility. We could not be any happier. ’™

My husband and his mother both resided at Normandy in the last months of their lives, and I cannot say enough good things about the facility and their staff. Everyone was kind during our visits and they went the extra mile to make sure that our loved ones’ needs were met. It truly seemed like everyone enjoyed working there and attending to my husband’s and his mother’s needs, which was a comfort to me. They helped me handle all of the paperwork involved in registration, and they signed my husband and mother in law up for all available services, from eye exams to counseling. My husband suffered from ALS and required vigilant and frequent care, including being fed a modified diet, the use of a Hoyer Lift to move from his bed to his power wheelchair, and the use of a ventilator. Staff were very responsive to his medical needs, working closely with his Hospice team, and they also took extra time to make sure his emotional needs were met as he faced a challenging illness and premature death. Just prior to his passing, we held an early birthday party for our little boy, and the staff joined in singing to him, gave him balloons, and signed a card for him. I have a degree in Recreation Management so I am very familiar with long term care facilities and all the behind the scenes details it takes to keep them running smoothly. I was impressed with the varied array of activities offered at Normandy and I highly recommend Normandy to any family who is facing the need for skilled nursing care for a loved one

My husband and I moved to The Normandy from Columbus last June. The past six months have been wonderful: friendly community, exceptional staff, multiple and varied activities, delicious food, and now at holiday time, the decorations are breathtaking. Great, friendly staff that goes out of their way to be helpful. The rooms are really nice and well maintained by maintenance and housekeeping. The food is fantastic with a variety of menu choices for each meal. The dining areas are clean and really well decorated. The Normandy offers a wide variety of activities from games to gardening. All in all this a great place to live.

I have been a resident at the Normandy Breakwater Independent Apartments for 71/2 years. I could not be more pleased! Let me highlight what has impressed me the most. The spirit of the residents as a whole could not be matched. Always eager to lend a helping hand, give directions, or guide a shopping spree, they are a helpful & fun group. The staff are always eager to please. Additionally, they are quick to respond in time of need and quick with a smile to help with suggestions. If you have ever driven in, you will know how beautiful this 30+ acre campus is. Through the seasons the care given is phenomenal. And being surrounded by natural beauty continually lifts one’s spirits. I need to relate that all administrative personnel are immediately accessible and responsive to the residents” a first in my experience. What a blessing. Thank you to all at the Normandy.

I visited a relative who lives at the Breakwater Apartments Senior Living, within the Normandy Campus - and I greatly enjoyed my time there. I had no idea they had a full sit-down restaurant, and a wonderful breakfast/lunch cafe! The food was very good, with many options - and I guess the menu changes every week. Shout out to those chefs, cooks, and servers! A very clean and well-maintained facility all around.

My mom moved to Lakeside in August 2021 after living at Breakwater for 8 years. Lakeside is immaculate. Everyone from the office staff, nurses, dining staff and especially the aides are top notch! I doubt you could ever find a better place!

I cannot say enough positive things about The Normandy. I've had the privilege to experience The Normandy as a guest as well as an employee. Aside from the gorgeous and clean facility for its residents, The Normandy goes above and beyond for their residents. For example, they have a comprehensive group fitness schedule like nothing I've ever seen. Many facilities offer 1 exercise class a day. The Normandy goes even further and has 3 different classes every Mon, Wed and Fri in addition to other speciality fitness and dance classes on Tue/Thu. Promoting a healthy lifestyle for both brain and body is so important and to have a variety for their residents, such as tai chi, seated yoga, seated dance classes, balance classes, Silver Sneakers, Brain & Body, etc, there is something for everyone. I've had the pleasure of seeing them offer healthy cooking seminars, educational seminars, and other activities to encourage community and joy. In addition, to the offerings the staff is exceptional. Everyone I've worked with or come across always has a smile, warm and inviting energy, and is happy to help in any way. I know when a facility is a good one when I would recommend it to my parents or grandparents to live and The Normandy is one of the best.

I have lived at the Normandy Breakwater Senior Living for over 7 years. I was widowed and lived in my big house alone for 10 years. Coming here was the best decision I made for my future retirement. I’ve made close friends and feel as if this is truly home. I’m busy with our Library and Resident Gardens. There is always something going on if you are interested; music, games, performances & chatting with friends in the pub. We have a beautiful campus. I have a view of Lake Erie and our pond from my apartment. Staff feel like family. Come visit!

My spacious apartment, our extensive library, beautiful grounds, the parties as well as a variety of speakers and events make it a vibrant and thriving environment for all. My mom lived at the breakwater apartment. The facility is one of the finest around. The common areas are clean and the staff is some of the kindest people I have ever met. The breakwater has many activities planned daily including entertainment. They have a great workout facility, library, movie theater and a pub, to name a few. The food is also amazing! Breakwater Apartments at the Normandy provides a great experience for Senior Independent Living. I highly recommend it and felt happy and safe with Mom enjoying her life there! Truly a blessing!

I’ve never lived in an apartment and did not know what to expect. I know l made the right choice coming to the Normandy Independent Living. The apartment is beautiful with balcony facing West and the sunsets are gorgeous. There are so many activities that I keep busy playing bridge, mah jong and other games. Entertainment is provided some evenings and field trips to such places as Restaurants and musical programs. One great trip coming up is to the Goodtime for lunch and tour. The best part is the residents as everyone is so friendly and the Staff are always willing to be available whenever. After looking at many other facilities I’m so glad I made the move to the Normandy over a year ago. Call and make appointment to visit. You won’t be sorry. Rose Strulic

I have lived at the Normandy for one year. Moving here is one of the best decisions I have made. The residents are great. Actually I am one of the younger ones, yet I am amazed at the abilities and interests of the residents . The staff is definitely engaged with the community, providing many opportunities and resources for the residents to participate. Special meals are provided, especially for holidays. And a bonus for me is the underground parking garage.

My mother moved in Lakeside at the end of November 2018 and we are very pleased with her living environment. The staff is very caring, the food is good and the apartments are just perfect! Highly recommend this for others making the big decision.

If you are considering having a loved one live here, note that they will take them to appointments at medical facilities. But if your loved one has to go Downtown to the UH or Cleveland Clinic, they will not provide transportation.

The Normandy retirement apartments are fabulous. The staff are always warm and welcoming. They are truly wonderful. Our family has had three sets of grandparents across two generations live here for the past five decades (back to the 1960's in the independent living apartments). We feel so blessed to have such a great place to call home. In many many ways, over the years, they have earned this rating by sharing and building a really loving community. Am amazed how well they keep it up.
