Reviews Summit Corners
July 2026
I give them 2 stars because the staff there actually tries but the corporate company is just a money grab. They have 3 tiers of "extras" you have to pay for on top of the ridiculously high monthly rates ($5000+)and they will look for 1 item your lived one "needs" in each level to make you pay for the top tier and additional amount of over $1000 a month. If you're late paying by even a day they charge you $250 and threaten to evict their elderly tenants over miniscule amounts compared to what they are paid. My advise is to just liquidate everything you can and get them on title 19 as fast as possible.

We found Summit Corners for our Mom and have been very happy with our choice. Staff is dedicated, kind, and puts safety first. They have communicated well with us about everything. The facility is clean and cheerful. Mom’s transition has been going well.

My mom lives here and adores many of the workers and aides. She has made many friends living here in her two years in the retirement community. The staff take very good care of her and it gives me great peace of mind.

I would highly recommend Summit Corners. The aids, caregivers and medical team are so caring. Our on-boarding was so simple, painless, and on point. My mother has become immediately comfortable! So many activities to keep my mother busy, shout out to Marisa!! It would be too much space to name everyone who has welcomed us in, but the crew in East wing has been amazing! We are thankful!!

Clean, friendly, caring. I’m not ready to place my partner yet but I will be considering this community.

I would highly recommend Summit Corners for an Assisted Living for Loved ones. Right when you walk in the door, it feels like family. The facility is clean, welcoming, and engaging. There are many weekly activities for all interests along with a passionate staff!

I recently moved my father to Summit Corners. After touring a few places, I am so glad I went with this facility and have nothing but good things to say thus far. From my first visit at Summit Corners, I felt it was a very welcoming and bright environment and that my dad would be well taken care of there. I love that they have a robust activity calendar and outings which helps the residents build relationships and keeps everyone active! I would like to thank Tiffany who was available to answer any questions we had. She is awesome! This was a long distance move for my dad and she was always engaged and responded quickly. Also the nursing staff Ada and Michelle (a few I have met so far) are beautiful people. Gary who has taken over maintenance is wonderful and the front desk staff including Jodi is always there to help when needed. I appreciate everyone's kindness at Summit Corners as it helps make this transition for my dad easier. I feel the staff truly respects and cares for each person living there. Moving a loved one into assisted living is an adjustment all around but know they are in good hands at Summit Corners!
May 2025
My siblings and I struggled with what to do about our mother as her Altzheimer's progressed. We looked at several different places and some were really horrible. Summit Corners impressed us from the start. They were the most affordable and really checked all our boxes. We met friendly caring staff, delicious food, and clean comfortable rooms and facilities. I live out of town so when I visit Mom, I stay in her second bedroom and I see everything. I have yet to see anything that is of concern to me. I go with her to her excercise classes, I eat meals with her , and play bingo. She is getting physical therapy now which is helping her walk so much better! The staff is so caring and friendly! (Shout out to Michelle, Tiffany, Jodi, food staff, custodian, and especially Ava!) Everything is as we were told in the beginning! My mother thinks she is at a resort! Putting your loved one in assisted living is a very difficult thing to do, but Summit Corners makes it much easier knowing she is safe and well cared for!

Well at long last, we found the right place for Mom. We felt good about it the moment we walked in. Ezera show us around for our tour & We took to it immediately. We have been looking at many facilities. It was such a pleasure to find one that seems just right. We can’t wait for mom to move in so that she can partake in All the goodies that they have under one roof. Thank goodness the looking is over & we can now relax, With some real peace of mind.

WOW! what a whirlwind trying to get my sister placed but, much thanks to Ezara M. my sister was able to get into American House with little fuss. I think she will be happy there but, that remains to be seen. Ezara was able to accommodate us on short notice. The staff was warm and friendly.
February 2024
I am pleased to say that my parents will be residents at American House! The tour presented by Ezara Maddox, the food prepared by Chef G, and the warm reception my family and I received from the staff were all important components to making our final decision for a new, secure, happy home for our beloved parents. I had heard great things about American House and when I went to see it for myself, those praises were warranted. I look forward to visiting my parents there (and bringing their grandchildren to visit as well) to a place that is filled with love and compassion for seniors.
December 2023
My mother has recently moved to American House Senior Living in Macedonia. I can not express my gratitude and thanks enough to Ezara Maddox (Community Relations Director)and Mary Ann Pappone (Corporate Sales Specialist) for their help and support. I toured the community twice and both times I was impressed with the cleanliness and the passion exhibited by the staff. Ezara and Mary Ann both went above and beyond to help make the transition smooth and comfortable. We made the move from another Assisted Living facility that had not been delivering the care and service that was promised. Upon arriving at American House my mother immediately joined the other residents to enjoy their companionship and the live music presentation that day. My mother had not been out of her room at the previous facility except for trips to the physical therapy room. It is amazing how she immediately felt the warm and welcoming atmosphere that is present everyday at American House. My mother and I are both extremely happy with the care and service here. American House has great staff and Management team. I highly recommend this community to anyone and everyone looking for a great place for their loved ones. Thanks again to all the Staff and Management at American House. Happy Holidays. Jim

Facility is warm and inviting. Staff greets you as soon as you walk in. Clinical team very responsive to resident's care needs. Great communications. Offers fun activities for the residents and families.

I was there providing services. The staff was very nice. DON Anthony was kind and professional, as was an LPN whose name I'm sorry I didn't get.
August 2023
Great, new leadership and beautiful facility!
August 2023
My mom has been at American House for over 2 years. The building is clean and beautiful. My mom's space is bright and cozy. She loves her apartment. There has been a lot of turn over in staff and mom misses many of her former caregivers. but she has a great relationship with the residents and staff that remain. As I said a few years ago, it was not an easy decision to find a new place for mom to call home, but we have been happy with American House. Despite the changes, mom is happy with her home there. I highly recommend taking a tour of American House if you are making the difficult decision of where to move your loved one who needs care beyond what you can provide.
August 2023
My mother, Phyllis Keller, lives in Room 222, at the American House Facility in Macedonia, Ohio. She has been at that facility for over one year. The facility itself is very well-maintained and has a large dining area, a very large television area, several large meeting rooms, etc. The facility has everything a facility should have if it s to be used for assisted living. Too, the facility is kept very clean, as are the surrounding grounds. It is an attractive looking place. The facility is generally open for visitors, though, after hours, one must call a phone number posted on the front door in order to gain entrance. I personally have never had to wait for than a few minutes for someone to answer the phone and then let me in Overall, I think the aides and nurses who attend the residents are a hard-working group of individuals. The aides are very friendly, when I am there watching, and I can see that my mother knows the aides and is comfortable with them. My Mom's general comment is that everyone at AH is very nice to her and responds to what she wants or needs. WHen my Mom presses her call button, an aide doesn't always instantly show up, but one does eventually come. Too, when I talk to the aides, they seem to know my mother well, know her needs, know her stubborn points. That is reassuring to me. I would say that there seem to be enough aides to get the job done with the residents who live there. The nurses have proved a bit harder to get in touch with, when I need or want to talk with one. Sometimes no one answers at their extension and the voicemail is full and not accepting messages. When that happens, I transfer back down to the front desk, and generally the receptionist can find someone to talk to me. When I am able to talk to a nurse, they are generally very helpful. They don't mince words, and they give me a realistic picture of what is going on with my Mom. They can tell me if she is wearing her support hose, taking her meds, etc. So, to summarize, I think the nurse staff is very good, but getting ahold of them isn't always easy. Anthony, the Wellness Director, almost always answer his phone and he is my fallback call. He is a great employee. Both receptionists that I have dealt with, Char and now Jodie, are keyed to helping visitors or callers get what they need. That has always been a strong point of AH for me. I haven't always been able to talk to or contact the nurse practitioner who represents the doctor in charge. That is one thing that I could use more visibility on. How to reach this person, how often do they visit a resident, what is their avaiability in an emergency. I realize that one doctor (and staff) probably cover several different assited living facilities, but when I need to talk to the doctor or a representative, I need to talk to them. So, a little more information on this feature of AH's care would be helpful for me. Overall, since Jill has arrived as the new director in chief, I have noticed even more energy in the step of Macedonia AH employees, and I get the feeling that Jill is watching every variable and trying to improve performance in many different ways. I know, from my own experience, how hard it can be to try to pay attention to "everything at once", so I commend her on her tenure at Macedonia AH thus far. My Mom seems happy (at 100 years old), so I am happy.

First on behalf of American House I would like to say Thank you for all the positive reviews and I also would like to apologize to everyone who have experience negative, We’re now under new management and we’re listening to everyone. We have new management, new staff, new Activity Director, a Housekeeping team that keeps rooms clean and a 24hr maintenance, We have new activities that include families to join also we provide free hair services for families that can’t afford the Salon, We also have church services no matter what your religion. We can’t change the past but we can work harder to make not only our residents happy and comfortable in their home but their family comfortable with leaving them in our hands. When you become a resident it makes you family and we love you

The director MaryAnn was a godsend in helping our family place our elderly uncle in the right place where he needed to be. It was a blessing for our loved one.
January 2023
My mother-in-law, has been in the Macedonia<OhioAmerican House facility for about one year. She moved there from another facility. Overall, I am pleased with the AH Macedonia facility, though there are things that can be improved. On an employee by employee basis, I have found aides, nurses and therapists to be very open and informative about the care of my mother-in-law. Their attitude, in general, is constructive. Sometimes, particularly when my husband or I call the Macedonia facility from our home in Houston, Texas, it can be difficult to get a nurse or aide on the phone to answer our question. If we leave a message, it is sometimes difficult to get a call back. Eventually, we usually get through to someone, but it can be frustrating when we are calling about an issue we have with my mother-in-law that we wish we could get some help with immediately. Too, my husband and I feel that we don't really have a good opportunity to connect with the staff doctor and/or physician's assistant. The floor nurse is good at making us aware of changes in meds or new developments in Mom's condition, but the nurses are generally relaying information and don't always know the doctor's or physician assistant's logic or overall plan with Mom. This type of issue may as well be partially our fault, in that we might need to better understand the procedure for having someone on the medical staff telephone us. But, in any case, I would note that coordination on this type of issue between us and the decision-makers has been a source of frustration. We are aware that this industry (assisted living facilities) has challenging labor problems that can make keeping knowledgeable staff in place difficult. We do not expect perfection by any means. And, in this vein, I think it fair to note that everyone we have dealt with at Amercian House in Macedonia has tried hard to please us, usually understands our question or need, and does not try to pass the buck. Often, a floor nurse from another floor will come down to 2nd floor (where my mother-in-law lives) to find someone to help us. We have been impressed with the "ownership" this kind of attitude shows. Too, when we are at the facility, employees are always eager to help, are friendly, smile, joke.....it is a happy place compared to other facilities I have visited in this industry. That is not an easy demeanor to catalyze, so we give the management of the Macedonia facility points for emphasizing with its employees how important an " attitude to please" can be. The facility is well taken care of, and Mom's room is generally clean when we visit it. I think some additional work on hammering out established procedures for getting families in touch with the medical staff and for making nurses regularly available to report on the life of a particular resident could move the ball forward. Finally, I feel that the employees are generally open to hearing about things that residents' families see as problems or things can be improved. This is an important attribute for any business's employees to have, so I commend the Macedonia facility on this.

My dad is living at American House. We have been impressed with the improvement in the staffing and care levels in the last few months. The new executive director is doing a great job improving the service and care that my dad receives. She really cares about the residents and is very responsive to their families. It is a noticeable difference!
August 2021
I recently moved my mom into American House. I initially met with Amy Zorn the Executive Director. She goes above and beyond for the residents, and her care for them extends well beyond her scheduled work day. I then met with Jackie Bohon in sales and she and Amy took plenty of time to answer all of our questions and address our concerns. When we moved mom in, we were immediately greeted with a warm smile by Char who is the first face in the lobby. On the weekend, I met Sharon in the lobby who was equally friendly and helpful. Mom's day nurse, Tracy, and her day aid, Brittany, were wonderful in making it a smooth transition for mom. Tim, head of maintenance, made sure that mom's pictures were hung and that all of her needs were promptly addressed in her room. Tim was so patient with us, and he just set mom at ease as she was trying to make decisions about her new space. Tony, from the kitchen, made sure mom got a delicious lunch and was very gracious in bringing mom just what she needed. He continues to look after her needs in the dining room. Mary, from housekeeping, made sure she understood what mom needed in keeping her apartment clean and her laundry done as mom would need it. Mom's new apartment is bright and beautiful. The facility is quiet and well kept. The staff has been very attentive to our needs and to caring for mom. It was not an easy decision to find a new place for mom to call home, but we have all been so pleased with American House. I highly recommend taking a tour of American House if you are making the difficult decision of where to move your loved one who needs care beyond what you can provide.

I would give the American House in Macedonia a Five Star rating. The kindness and caring shown to my Mom from all the staff was amazing. From the first moment we walked in the door and met Amy Zorn, director we knew this was my Moms new home.Amy was so kind and showed us such compassion. She helped us through every step of the way of making my Moms transition to her new home a happy and comfortable one. Amy knows how to take care of your elderly parents and treated my Mom with the utmost caring and kindness. She made sure that Moms move to American House went smoothly and alerted all staff of my Moms care needs. The nurses were awesome and took wonderful care of my Mom as well. You can be assured that your loved ones are getting great care at American House in Macedonia. Sincerely Lynne Timko

I have a family member at this facility and it is a great place! The facility itself is very attractive with wide hallways, a big fireplace in the entryway and lots of cozy places to sit and relax. But, the best thing about Vista are the people. The staff is wonderful and caring. The director, the nursing staff, activities director, chef, front desk, handyman etc. are all pleasant and kind. They do whatever they can to make your loved one feel at home. I highly recommend considering Vista if you have a loved one looking for a good assisted living home.

Moving mom from one facility to another is always a difficult transition, however the staff at Vista Springs made that transition easy. The open feel and well laid out facility makes it feel like a home. Mom is now more engaged and enjoying her new home.
