Otterbein Lebanon – Reviews
My 42 yr. old son was coming to the end of his brain cancer journey and I could not care for him day and night any longer. A friend recommended Otterbein. I liked the "New Comers" full care hall where he would live out his journey. His room was just the right size and clean for his full care needs. Every visit I made to see him, he was clean, shaven and always talking with a nurse or resident. They took pictures of him laughing during a "skee ball" activity and sent them to us. The Head nurse even sat with him one morning holding his hand till he fell asleep in an attempt to make sure he would not get up out of his recliner and fall. There were always many eyes on him. On the morning before he passed away, they knew he loved, LOVED the outdoors! They put him in his Gerry chair and rolled him outside in the sun. He relished his last trip in the sunshine. This place may not be completely up to date with all the bells and whistles, BUT the nurses and staff are dedicated and love their work. They are the bells and whistles that sound off at the Otterbein full care facility!
Otterbein is a great place to work at! I’ve been here for a little over 2 years and all the staff is very friendly and work to get things done to provide great care to our residents!
I've been working here for a month and I can safely say this is the best job I've had. It's easy enough for me to grasp in a small enough amount of time, but keeps me busy enough to make the time fly by.
i been working for Otterbien for 33 yrs now. I enjoy working here.
From Connie Duersch We have been Independent Living residents at Otterbein Lebanon for nearly 4 years and we genuinely love living here! During the pandemic our caring and helpful staff did their very best to keep us engaged while still keeping us safe. Our spacious, beautiful campus allowed us wonderful opportunities for safe outdoor recreation. Otterbein Lebanon has certainly met our expectations for a retirement community. From Connie and Chuck Duersch
We have lived happily in our home here for 2-12 years. We have loved every minute. We enjoy the family atmosphere of our Court. We feel safe and looked after, particularly through the pandemic, when all the Staff have leant over backwards to make sure we are. Every effort has been made to be transparent in all decisions made on our behalf. Look forward to many more years here.
We have lived here in independent living for five years. We couldnt be happier. Beautiful surroundings, a lovely ranch home and wonderful friendly neighbors and staff. This is definitely a Christian Community where everyone cares. You are never a stranger here. We love the multiple activities offered. We have visited people in the health care facility and the found the rooms to be lovely. We are grateful to live in a place where we know we will be taken care of until our days on this earth end. Ken and Mary Ann Krusling
Fairly new residences at Otterbein. Move here in October of 2020, right in the middle of the Covid. It has been sort of a struggle learning all of what Otterbein has to offer. Finally things are starting to open up and we have been able to take advantage of what Otterbein can do for us. Otterbein definitely has a wonderful staff. All have been very friendly and helpful. My wife Nancy and I have been able to take advantage of the exercise facilities and I have enjoyed some of the classes in the pool. I have been playing in the golf league when the weather cooperates . Hopefully we can now start taking advantages of some of the other activities Otterbein offers now that the facility is starting to open up. The church has been a real blessing to Nancy and I. The services are very similar to where we have churched in the past. Pastor Tom and Pastor Dennis are real blessings to the Otterbein community. Our only regret is that we were not given a complete introduction to all of what Otterbein has to offer. Which i am sure was done because of the mess the Covid problems presented. We are still trying to find our way around this huge facility. Hopefully when all of the doors open again, it will be easier to find our way around. Thanks to all the staff who have had to work their way around these difficult times. Lets hope better times are ahead.
Would you believe my husband and I have lived at Otterbein for the past 50 years, almost to the day?! We moved here when he was hired in 1971 and raised our family here on campus. Many years later, when we reached 65 we decided to continue living here. I still worked elsewhere but he began volunteering part-time because we both loved Otterbein so much and still do! The family feel that existed here when we were young still exists between workers and residents even though our community is three times larger now in 2021. Of course the good, the bad and the ugly can all be expected in any business or ministry as leadership and staff changes are made periodically, but this place is absolutely great and we always are happy to recommend it to others, whether they are still independent or need some other level of health care. Now we are coming out of the pandemic and want to loudly applaud how awesome this place is and has been! My spouse and I are truly blessed to have been able to live here so long and I daresay that most of our 900+ neighbors would agree with my positive review here!
I moved in Otterbein Senior Life in March 2021. The staff and residents are very friendly and willing to help any way they can. Its a good place to live and plenty to keep you busy.
I havent worked here long but I absolutely love the people here, from residents to staff, my absolutely amazing supervisor some of my favorite higher-ups who are awesome thanks to all that have accepted me and helped me along so far, I hope to spend many many years working with you all!!!!!
I am an employee of Otterbein and love everything about it. The residents and staff go above and beyond with all they do, especially during the past year with the pandemic it was very challenging but together we made it work. I have worked at Otterbein for the last 6 years and can say it has been the most rewarding job I have had. I would highly recommend Otterbein as an employer and a place for our loved ones to live.
My mom is in the transitional care unit for a couple of weeks now. We knew going to rehab from the hospital was not what she wanted, but yesterday she said this place is perfect for me - the nurses and aides are wonderful. Thank you for helping her to get stronger to prepare to come home and to make her at ease and comfortable. Would highly recommend this! Staff is great.
Been a resident of Otterbein for almost 2 years. Was very hesitant at first to leave our home in West Chester but have not regretted the move at all. From our initial visits to finally agreeing to the move, we have been welcomed as if weve lived here forever. In fact, we feel as if we are family. So much to experience. Its a lovely, warm and loving place. Highly recommend to anyone considering a high quality retirement community
I have lived at Otterbein Lebanon for almost two years. Even though over a year of that we were in quarantine and under restrictions the Partners and staff tried to make it as good as it could be. They still offered a wide variety of activities and I always felt safe in our Bubble.
As a Social Worker I feel blessed to work along side so many dedicated partners here at Otterbein Senior Life. Recently we had family members from different states all flying in to visit a resident in Senior Living. It takes a lot of energy for this Resident to be up and out of her room. Mimi G. Has a magic about her, she beams with energy and goodness .She made her feel extra beautiful-including curling her hair and doing her nails so her family visit would go well -and it did . She was able to visit outdoors with all of her family who traveled in to see her!
I chose to move from Southern Oregon to Otterbein Lebanon for several reasons. I was born and raised in Ohio and wanted to come home. My great grandma lived here at OL, and my grandma, my aunt, and my mom and I came here to visit her. Those are memories I will always cherish. Most important, I wanted to live in a faith-based, continuous-care facility, which OL is, where I can comfortably age in place. Were it not for Covid-19, there would be LOTS of wonderful activities. I enjoy walking around the gorgeous campus, going to movies at the Starry Night Theatre, meeting new people, and relaxing in my beautiful Terrace Place apartment. Theres always arts and crafts activities, going to the YMCA pool, eating at either of the 2 fabulous restaurants or at the outdoor Pavillion in good weather, picking up a book at the large library, Bible study, exercise classes, writers group, campus-televised announcements as well as bingo and lots more. Management and staff are very supportive, and the food here is delicious. I wholeheartedly encourage you to visit Otterbein Lebanon to see for yourself the many reasons youll want to move here, too!
I really enjoy working here! As part of the kitchen staff I have the privilege to serve the wonderful people that live here. The campus is beautiful and there are many dining options to choose from. During this pandemic while in the summer months we opened the Koi Cafe at the Pavilion to give a dining option for those who could not come to 1912 dinning room. A place where you could eat dinner while enjoying the beautiful scenery by the lake. I love to be apart of a team that continually looks to enhance the dining experience of our family here at Otterbein.
Otterbein is a community with friendly and caring residents and staff. There are many activities to keep you engaged and healthy. There is a lovely spacious campus to explore. Since so much is taken care of for you, there is a carefree lifestyle. Otterbein is truly a place to enjoy life!
I love living at Otterbein. I have lived here for 15 years, and every day is different and wonderful. My favorite place is the art department, and Ive learned to do a lot of artsy and unique things. Janna is a great teacher. The people who labor here do it in love. Theyve been very creative in keeping us healthy and busy during this pandemic. I also love the country atmosphere. I am fortunate to have a lot of supportive friends here.
Its a wonderful place to work. All the residents are great and Im thankful I get to spend time with them everyday.
Otterbein is a wonderful community of people who care about the people who live and work here. If you are considering a new place to live or a new job, this is the place.
I am truly blessed to say that I have worked at Otterbein for 6 years now and they have so much compassion for the residents and the partners
9 years ago I moved to Otterbein. People mentioned the spirit of Otterbein. I thought what a wonderful marketing advertisement. Otterbein is much more than that. Besides all the amenities like indoor pool, creative arts center, train room, wood shop and gardening plots to name a few, the people are wonderfully supportive. Come find out about this special place. Linda Fowler
My mother-in-law has lived here for 5 years and loves it here! In addition to having her home completely maintained for her she loves all of the opportunities to socialize with her friends.
This is a lovely community. I live in a court home. It is well maintained and comfortable. I love my little solarium for catching cool breezes and holiday decorating. I have yet to run into any employees here who are not courteous and helpful. During lockdown they went out of their way to keep us all safe, even in independent living! The best part of being here is the wonderful neighbors! There is a feeling of commraderie here with neighbor caring about neighbor. At this season of my life I cant think of a better place to be!
Such a wonderful place with so many living options! My grandma lives here and is so happy! Thank you Otterbein for taking such good care of our residents.
This place sucks!!!!
After a fall, my mother was sent to Otterbein for rehabilitation. She was non- weight baring, had horrific pain and swelling to the extremity that was injured. A independent person who now was dependent on everyone for everything. During her rehab, the nurses quickly identified a few areas of concern which allowed for quick and timely treatment. My mother is healthier and stronger than she was prior to going to Otterbein. Many thanks!
My wife broke her left leg. Got her into Otterbein for rehab. Everyone was a great help and she progressed through her rehab in record time.
The new housing and apartments are beautiful with a YMCA for staff and elders. Great staff!!
Proud to work for/with an organization that has elder liberation & quality care at the center of their mission. We are doing amazing things for the elders in our communities!
I think that otterbein is a wonderful place to work! I love all of the workers and residents theyre all very sweet!
A great place to work, free employee meal, 2 weeks paid vacation after first year, 7 paid holidays
Otterbein has a lot of very nice apartments & houses for seniors. They have a YMCA with exercise equipment, indoor pool, hot tub, salon, theater, chapel, 2 restaurants and many activities. It would be a great place to live or work.
I'm surrounded by amazing staff and residents?
I think that otterbein is a wonderful place to work! I love all of the workers and residents theyre all very sweet and helpful!
Otterbein Lebanon Senior Lifestyles Community's staff listens to the needs of their clients and offer the perfect living arrangements for their needs. They have a wide variety of beautiful homes and living spaces and will suit the care you need specifically to you or your loved ones situation. Otterbein has been enhancing the physical and spiritual life of seniors for over a century. They must be doing something right!
Believe it or not, I've lived here since 1971! My husband worked here, we raised our family here, then he retired in 2003. He still volunteers in his office two days a week. I still work part-time but after many years am finally able to begin to participate in some of the interesting things Otterbein has to offer. We would not hesitate to recommend this community to anyone. The Spirit of Otterbein is alive and well on our campus!
My mom is currently there for therapy. She hasn't been there long, but what I see everyone is so nice and caring. Even the patient's family is treated very well and the food is good. Even family members are invited to eat with everyone. I met many nice seniors there. Happy mom is being taken care of so well. The staff is terrific!!!!
Came to live here in June 2016. We absolutely love it! Good friends great opportunities for serving others, YMCA workout in pool, and much much more.
I was there once and really was taking good care of the best that they could a lot of information was not forwarded in the correct way so I did not ever fault staff for whatever may have happened all in all my care there they have very caring and responding staffNot a bad therapy group either they were the ones to help me To get the ability to start walking I still have some ways to go And I wish I can go back there just for the therapy in the kind-heartedness of the staff This is my opinion In only my opinion
My grandmother lives here and it's been great. She lives in one of the apartments so now she can walk to all the activities and events without going out in the cold. She even has the convenience of being able to do her physical therapy in the YMCA there.
I've been here almost 4 years and I love the place. I've never heard anyone say I came here too early. most people say I should have come sooner
Otterbein is a lot of "heaven" right here! So much to do! So many friends! So much fun! New homes are being built and waiting for you to join us. What a wonderful life and God is in charge of it all.
With over 100 years of experience, they know how to provide a safe, and fun environment. So many activities to choose from, yet no pressure to do anything.
