Reviews The Wellington at Dayton
July 2026
I had a great time with my friend, Rosemarie. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The front desk clerk was very nice to help me get information for getting Rosemarie continued with a medical response button. I don't remember her name, but she is always so nice and so are the other front desk clerks. Every time I visit Rosemarie, the front desk ladies are ready to help me, as Rosemarie's power of attorney, to make sure Rosemarie has a successful and pleasant life at Wellington.

My father spent 8 months in the Assisted Living part of The Wellington of Dayton and overall had a good experience. Wellington would have been my third choice, after Fairmont Senior Living in Washington Township and Stoney Ridge in Miamisburg, but he preferred Wellington because the assisted living part was smaller and not overwhelming like Stoney Ridge and Fairmont. (Note: Stoney Ridge went through a management change a few years ago so ignore their bad reviews from 5 years ago.) PROS: 1. Most of the staff seemed to genuinely care about the residents. This is not something that you can take for granted at other senior living facilities. Overall, Dad got good care and assistance when he needed it. 2. Wellington seemed very clean to me. And while he was there, Wellington replaced the icky old carpet in the hallways with fresh laminate flooring. It's much easier to roll a wheelchair on the new flooring. 3. His apartment was laid out conveniently, even if you're stuck in a wheelchair like he was. With a kitchen area, small living room, bedroom, and a bathroom with accessible toilet and shower. I believe that there are also smaller apartments available. He took his meals in the dining room, instead of using the kitchen, because he never was much of a cook and also the kitchen counters are too high for a very short man in a wheelchair. 4. His apartment had a cheerful view of the courtyard. As far as I know, all of the assisted living apartments have outdoor views. 5. The other residents were friendly, although there are only 29 apartments in assisted living if I remember correctly, and some of those people eat meals in their rooms, not in the cheerful dining room, so you don't necessarily see all of them. There is a small additional charge to get meals delivered to your room. 6. Excellent selection of cable TV channels from Spectrum. Unlike at Fairmont, where the cable TV package is very skimpy. 7. Small well-behaved pets may be allowed after pre-approval. 8. For Dad's high level of required care, the total cost of his Wellington room and care was roughly $1000 a month less than the equivalent at Stoney Ridge or Fairmont. CONS: 1. The food only averaged out at mediocre. The food at Stoney Ridge and especially Fairmont gets much better ratings in the state of Ohio senior living surveys. Dad said food quality depended entirely on who the cook was that day. You can always order a hamburger or something similar from the alternative menu if you know from experience that you don't like what is on the main menu for a particular meal. On the other hand, you can order a whole lot of delivered food from outside with the $1000 a month you're saving by living at Wellington. 2. This next problem is endemic to senior living facilities. If you leave cash lying around it will disappear. Note that "lying around" includes inside a wallet in an unlocked desk drawer. It didn't help that Dad left his door unlocked when he went to meals, physical therapy, and doctor appointments. 3. Some of the staff are clumsy and 95 year old men are fragile. Still, Dad suffered fewer injuries and less severe injuries at Wellington than he did when he was living at home with hired home aides. 4. You will need to find a new place to live if you get too sick for assisted living. Wellington only has independent living, assisted living, and memory care. They won't keep you if you later need fulltime nursing care, unlike Fairmont and Stoney Ridge. This was the thing that worried me most. Vienna Springs would've been my choice if Dad got that sick but he skipped that step. Overall, Wellington of Dayton was the right place for my Dad and we would choose it again.

Every staff person I came in contact with had a smile and offered to help!! Aides on memory care had huge smiles and immediately offered to help me. The nurse on memory care was fabulous. Attentive, caring to the client he was caring for. Good infection control. Your team this afternoon was top notch! Super.

What a welcoming team for my family member in assisted living. I really like this place, I can picture myself living there when the time comes. Activities abound. Facility is warm and has everything you could think of. The care team is responsive and are angels when it comes to their level of patience with our aging family member. I am impressed with how quickly they call us with concerns. They are so appreciated. Nurse Pam, MO, and more... thank you.

Had high hopes for this place but can not recommend it for assisted living. Mom was there for about five months earlier this year. Circumstances led to her needing long-term care (not placing any blame here). She is thriving after having been elsewhere for almost seven months. After seeing the care level she now receives, and her being happy (she never was at Wellington), there is no comparison. In retrospect we accepted things knowing that none of these facilities are perfect, but seeing how much better things can be, well, just glad that she is no longer there. If your loved one requires assisted living consider only communities with Continuing Care, things change, but Wellington can't accommodate increased needs properly. I must say the apartments are quite lovely and possibly okay for independent living.

The personnel is constant changing. The facility is clean. My mother complains about the dining experience.

Hi, my name is Carla Jackson. I am the Daughter in law of Mr. Billie Jackson. He has been a resident of your facility for over an year. But sadly he has passed away recently. I would like to say Thank You to all of you for the great care that he received from you. I'm sure that he will be dearly missed. I know that he is missed by his family. Thank you again...
March 2023
I've witnessed great care taken with the residents that reside in this facility. I have a strong belief system and the elderly DESERVE to be treated with dignity & respect. They have earned it! I can only hope to be taken care of by people that compassionate when I am in geriatric care.
April 2022
My parents moved in recently. I found the administration helpful and went over and above to make the transition easier. Also the support staff went out of their way. I was so impressed that all levels of staff was genuine concerned and willing to help. Great place!
February 2022
I have been a caregiver for 2 lovely ladies with Alzheimer's at The Wellington for several months. Having been a caregiver in numerous local elder care facilities for 18 years, I am absolutely astonished at the level of care given at The Wellington. Every staff member is engaged, interested and hard working. From the front desk staff to the dining room workers, all are very diligent in their duties. I can tell that the management staff is very involved in the day- to- day performance of their staff. They are not armchair managers. They know the residents by name and know their families. There has never been a time when I requested to speak to someone that I wasn't instantly connected to the appropriate team member. Being visible to your residents and their families is key to a successful elder care facility. If you are looking for an ideal new home for a family member or friend, do not hesitate to visit The Wellington. Top notch management, really tasty food, lots of activities, spacious living apartments.... The Wellington checks all of the boxes.

My mother has been a resident here for several months in Assisted Living. I am extremely impressed with the nursing staff and the quality of care they provide to my mother. They are extremely professional and are very caring . They are very good about communicating with me anytime there is an issue, even if it's only a medication change. I feel very comfortable and confident that she is in good hands.

My Mother lived at the Wellington for several years. The Medical care Team, Administrators, and the Staff Team were all a part of our Family. I say that without reservation. No exceptions; there is no better care and support for your family member ! Mom passed recently at 106 after many special years on this earth. I cannot express my sincere thanks to the team at the Wellington for the way they treated our Family and the special care they provided to our Mom.
July 2020
We went on a tour of the beautiful facilities that you have today. The most impressive part to me was our tour person, Kelly, was so kind and engaging with all the residents! She called each one by name and asked them how they were doing. It’s important to think that as you are considering putting a loved one in any kind of home that they would be in a loving place.... and today I saw genuine love being shown to the people who lived here

My Uncle will turn 99 in a few weeks and loved The Wellinton Of Dayton. I do not think he could have found a nicer place to live. His apartment was very nice and large. The staff was always friendly and helpful. I searched for months trying to find a nice place for him that he could afford. It was the most affordable place I found. Very friendly family atmosphere. I would highly recommend it.

Good facility - good corporate office - however the day to day staff could use better training. I would not expect a College Graduate to be employed here but my experience speaking with the front desk leaves me wondering where they find these people.
