Anonymous posting for privacy and safety reasons. Recently purchased by a company that does not care about resident Quality of life. We have a parent that has been living there for years . What recently was a privately owned is now catering to Medicaid and the cost cuttting is evident. So sad for those that have called this facility home over the years. What used to have the feeling of an apartment building with upscale dining has turned into a sad place to be. We have seen residents who have fallen in their room but no one answers their call button for hours. There was one resident that exposed himself to multiple women residents (he is gone now). Food quality has gone way down hill and most recently have done away with the cloth tableclothes that gave the place any sense of quality and dignity. Instead of assisted living/independant living this is now feeling like a low scale Nursing home. It smells like urine due to poor housekeeping. I do NOT recommend it.

I enjoyed Linda and the rest of the team his doctor was great the way she explained everything. We have been very happy since our brother moved into Kensington Place. Everyone has been so helpful and our worries about a rocky transition have been soothed. We meet new people each time we visit and the one constant has been that everyone seems friendly and happy to be there. I don’t remember everyone’s names specifically as we were busy getting our brother moved in and set up. The 3 gentlemen with the Maintenance team helped with furniture delivery and putting it together and were so happy and helpful. The ladies we spoke with during meal times have been very cute with my brother and I can already see they are paying attention to his preferences. Brandy is one of the ladies that stands out from the restaurant service team, but every experience has been positive. Everytime I share an elevator with a resident or part of the staff, there is a pleasant exchange. I have been most pleasantly surprised by the activities and enrichment opportunities happening all around the building. There are events and activities available all the time and all of them seem to have large participation so we have loved that.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The facility was clean. I didn’t realize I needed to sign in Using the “kiosk”, I don’t believe that was there the last time I visited… Or I didn’t know I had to use it then either. Residents seemed happy and comfortable.

My wife is in Grace House, the memory care unit. We had looked for a long time for a place where we felt she would be loved and cared for. A place where people would respect her and really be present and responsive to her needs. We found all of this at Kensington Place. From the first time we met the staff we felt comfortable and listened to. Communication with the staff has always been good and that’s for me amazing. Some of the staff in the memory care unit often stay after their shift is finished and sit in my wife’s room with her for a chat. It takes a lot of patience and dedication to work with someone that has Alzheimer’s. They can get really confused, sad, lost and have difficulties expressing how they feel or what they need. The staff there pay attention and take the time to help my wife feel safe, understood and heard. We could not be happier!!! A big thank you to everyone making this place what it is - a sanctuary

Chynna the director of nursing was extremely easy to work with made this whole process for my mom a breeze. Talking to her made me feel like I had a friend and someone who truly cared!! Although we were thrilled with this place 2 yrs ago, the quality has declined dramatically. New owners seem to be cutting corners at every turn. House keeping is gone, food quality is poor, and new staff is not nearly as friendly and helpful. My mother has many friends here so the decision is difficult, but we are looking for a new place for her. Interestingly, when I mentioned this at her dinner table, all the other residents eating with us expressed interest in moving too. The new owners have ruined a once wonderful place.

New owners don’t return calls at all. I’ll make sure to post photos of the bathrooms they don’t clean either. My mother said her place was cleaned Dec 30th I went there on December 31st and nobody took out her trash my kids and I took out 6 full bags of trash, they didn’t clean the bathroom or kitchen at all or do her dishes or clean the floors. I requested her laundry to be done as well. The nurse [name removed] is unprofessional and should find a new career, caring for the elderly is not in her forte. I have called the office manager [name removed] several times with no response. I’ve been trying to pay my mother’s rent for 7 days and I can’t get anyone to help me. My is currently in ICU and has been there for 7 days now. This place wasn’t like this in July when we did a tour and had lots of employees always working and nice and now it’s nothing like this. She just moved here in Aug and it took a couple months for everything to go to hell here. Nobody calls you back or answers the phone communication is terrible and I’m still waiting for them to call me and let me know my mother is in the hospital as my brother and I are her emergency contacts and they haven’t contacted either of us yet. I called 911 for my mother on Jan 1st she tried to contact a nurse but couldn’t get any help thankfully she called me and I called 911 or she would have died . Yet Kensington hasn’t called me to still let me know she’s there , that’s elderly abuse that she couldn’t get ahold of a nurse to help her as she was in her apartment literally dying. You people should be ashamed of yourselves.

Visited a resident today. Impressed with transportation system personnel. She arranged her trip to Dr's this week while we were there. Communication between her and her driver was easy and professional.

My dear friend receives excellent care at Kennaington. He is now staying at Grace House, the memory unit. Kennsington has been his home for 12 years. For most of the years he was Independent Living, in his own apartment. Then as his needs increases he switched to Assisted Living, delivered in his own apartment ! At 91 he needed lots of help after a series of falls. I want to applaud the direct care health aides at GH. With their patient care skills and cheerful manner they care for my friend like he was their kin. Shout out to Linda, Joyce, Carla, Jemima and all the other aides around the clock. The well maintained facility and the staff ,all the positions to run a Senior Living Center, share the goal of delivering the best quality of life to Kennsington residents.

Hello I absolutely love it here! The new DON Stephanie Howard is amazing. She has really brought a sense of leadership and team work amongst the staff. The care that aides give to the residents are amazing. Everyone is pleasant and helpful as well. The Adon Chyna was very attentive and informative as well. Dj was nice as well. Thank you so much for all that you do!

My mom has been living here for nearly 2 years and has recently faced some major issues with management. We decided to move her, and she is happier than she's been in some time with this new plan in place.

I'd give zero stars if I could. My mother is getting bullied by another resident and Kensington's solution is to try and force my mother into memory care to keep her away from him rather than addressing his aggressive behavior. We are moving her ASAP.

My parents lived here for a while a couple of years ago. I was familiar with Kensington Place before they moved in because I knew people who lived there. It’s a nice community of friendly people. Unfortunately, my friends tell me that the meals have gone downhill since then. Much of the food is processed and high in sodium, which is not healthy for anyone let alone older folks. It’s a real shame because the residents are great and there are some really nice apartments..

When my mother needed respite care, Cathy and her team were so very helpful in getting her into a safe place at Kensignton so she could recover from her nursing home stay. The nursing team helped coordinate a high level of care in the early days. Now that my mother has moved in as a regular resident, the team are working with her to find a balance in doing what she can independently and helping her with things she cannot do. The communication between our family and the staff is good. The apartments are very nice, lots of storage, and the residents and staff have been so welcoming. The front desk team is always welcoming when I drop things off. Denise, Becky, and Gail and many others make it a happy place. It's a relief to know that my mother has safely been surrounded by people and has still had an opportunity to do activities and have face to face conversations during Covid. Our family looks forward to being able to spend time with her at Kensington once the Pandemic is over.

I am an 87 year old single male who has been a resident of Kensington Place over a year. While shopping for an assisted living community, I felt the sense of community as soon as I entered the front door. The staff is warm and caring, very professional, the residents are welcoming and friendly. My apartment is spacious and comfortable. The dining room serves nutritious delicious meals from a varied daily menu. I feel fortunate and I am very happy to live here
