I have had the opportunity to visit IV Avon Lake a few times, and can't get over how beautiful it is! The residents are very kind and welcoming and seem truly happy. They do so many spectacular activities, parties and outings. No time to be bored! I cannot say enough about how caring and warm the employees are. It's just a wonderful place to call home.

My experience with Independence Village of Avon Lake has been nothing but outstanding !The entire staff knows every residents name and family and truly treats the residents like family!The executive director Alyssas entire daily focus is to make sure the residents experience in all facets of life is great!On a tour the sales team of Amber and Caroline really take the time to learn about the needs of the potential resident and not try to just sell somebody -they are true caring people!The Chef -Phil has 20 years experience providing 5star quality meals and they have won awards for their menu options!The life enrichment team with Emily heading daily activities have been so creative and really provide activities that residents want to come to!!!The entire community is spotless with Natalia as the head of housekeeping and with Russ heading up the maintenance team -everything always seems to be working perfectly -Having their own dedicated care staff headed up by Teresa -the head nurse and Madison as the independent care coordinator -independence village should be your number one choice for independent -assisted living and secured memory care for yourself or loved one

I have been here to play piano for the residents several times now, and it is always such a pleasant place to be! I have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff members are both professional and caring, and it is an incredibly nice facility with friendly people. Every time I am there, it seems that there a number of fun and engaging activities going on. They have also done a wonderful job of handling the COVID-19 pandemic in a very safe and thorough manner. I always look forward to my evenings of playing music here! Everyone who works here goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care!

My mother just passed a week ago. She lived in Independence Village Avon Lake for 11 months. She suffered greatly the past 6 months. Lost the ability to walk which changed everything, suffered from confusion anxiety and severe depression. In her last 6 days she was in a lot of pain and I was at her bedside so able to see first hand the care she received. The patience, kindness, affection from the nursing staff to the aids was everything I could ask for. From the administration to the cleaning staff they did their jobs the way people are expected to and showed kindness in every step. There are too many names to mention to say Thank You to. Know that if you choice Independence Village as a choice for your loved one you will not be disappointed. In addition, the Crossroads Hospice was beyond the best!! Thank you to all, your love and kindness makes a difference in peoples lives...

My Nana has been a resident of Independence Village for the last year and it is an absolutely wonderful place! Ever since she moved in, they have taken many steps to make her feel welcome and to help her to become part of the community. They provide excellent care and have helped her adapt to the health challenges that she has faced. I have also been very impressed with how they handled the difficulties of Covid-19 pandemic. I have seen them work extremely hard to try to balance resident safety and also quality of life. They have been very creative to set up safe activities like virtual trivia (you team up with your family member over the phone) and help coordinate FaceTime and window visits. Their hard work has made this difficult year so much better for my family. I am so thankful that she is in a safe place with people who care about her.

I moved to Avon Lake about a month ago and I really like it. The people working here are great. They are always so helpful and always talk to you. The housekeeper and maintenance man feel like family to me now. I am proud to have friends come to visit because it is such a nice community. I really enjoy playing pool and going to tai chi and other exercise classes. I feel it is really unusual to have as many activity choices as they have here daily. The entertainers who come here to perform are also really good. I would definitely recommend this community to friends and family.

Beyond Belief

My experiences with Independence Village of Avon Lake has been wonderful! The common areas are so sparkling clean! Not even once this winter was the interior entrerance sloppy, wet or littered with salt from the outside! I don’t know how they do it, but they do! And the food... fantastic! It’s delicious! It’s fresh! And such a variety!! I love coming to eat with my brother because there are so many delicious choices, his table buddies are so interesting and kind! I love their stories and experiences! The Staff is truly remarkable! Professional! Talented! Always with a smile and putting residents and families first! I have never met a more compassionate and sincerely caring group of people under one roof!! Why even the Maintenance fellows always give a wave from down the hall, and just take a moment to listen and chat with a resident no matter what! From the young servers in the dining room to the Executive Director... everyone knows your name at Independence Village of Avon Lake!! Everyone is important here to each other and to the Community! I love that! And I love the difference such kindness, consideration and respect makes in the healthy living here!! And the activities are diverse, intelligent, encourage creativity and give opportunities to try something new!!! So clever this Life Enrichment Staff!!! They live up to their Titles, for they truly enrich each and every life with their heart and soul!! Yes! I do think that Independence Village of Avon Lake is a remarkable place! One month ago, I moved my mother from an assisted living facility in Sandusky to Independence Village in Avon Lake. She'd been in Memory Care for 12 years at the other facility but as her physical and mental health was declining rapidly, I wanted her close. Moving a parent with dementia into a new facility can be stressful on the patient as well as those who love them. The staff at Independence Village did and continues to do everything in their power to ensure this transition went as smoothly as possible for my mother as well as me. The staff treats the residents of Memory Care with kindness and dignity. They display an incredible degree of patience and do an excellent job of meeting each resident where they are at any given moment. As a result, the residents are more content and engaged than at other memory care facility I've seen. There are activities throughout the day including music and yoga for residents interested in participating. Residents are given food choices at every meal and the food is good. During the past month, I've had meetings with everyone from the executive director to heads of each department at their request. They do this so I know who to call with any questions or concerns about any aspect of my mother's care. The staff at Independence Village treat the residents and those who love them like they would their own family and friends.

This is a beautiful and very clean facility. All staff is helpful and friendly they go above and beyond to provide quality care for the residents. They offer many selections for each meal and the food is delicious! They have a wide variety of daily activities for all residents to enjoy. They often go on breakfast/lunch trips and shopping trips. They offer independent apartments, assisted living apartments, and also have a memory care secured unit. There is staff on site 24 hours a day always willing to provide exceptional care for the residents.

Memory Care provides for stimulating and/or calming events for the residents whether it is a ride to see colors or musical entertainment you can find it happening here. Independent and Assisted Living residents can involve themselves as much as or as little as they want. The opportunities are always here. I see workers happily participating in events and care.
