Always clean, many activities for residents, food consistently amazing with many options. Staff especially "Rhonda", always willing to assist with anything presented to her, extremely helpful from entry paperwork to growing in basement to assist with my mom's tv! Everyone helpful, supportive resulting in extremely smooth transition for my mom as well as our family. Residents are welcoming, engage with each other. Mom has improved both in mind and body (walking). On not so good days, someone is always there to help! The peace of mind Heathwood to our family,,,,, priceless!

We can't say enough about how good the accommodations, food and activities are at Heathwood. In particular the staff there are caring, supportive and attentive to their resident's needs - it's what makes this place feel like home for these folks. We are very pleased overall.

We have had an extremely positive experience since moving my parents into Heathwood. The staff and fellow residents have been welcoming, supportive, and caring. Staff know everyone by name and remember their favorite things and preferences. Heathwood does an excellent job managing medications, facilitating medical visits and workups, arranging fun and interactive events, and keeping families up to date and informed. We appreciate the constant open lines of communication between Heathwood and our family. We visited a number of other options before selecting Heathwood, and we feel reassured every day that we made the best possible choice for our parents. Heathwood is a warm, compassionate place to call home.

After looking at other options, we are glad we chose Heathwood for Mom. The facility, staff, food, and activities are wonderful according to Mom. I find they exceed expectations in every way. The staff and management are always there to help and really listen to and address any concerns raised. Mom is safe and is cared for, and that's what's important to me.

We visited several Assisted Living facilities in the area we decided that Heathwood was the best fit for mom. She has blossomed immensely there many activities to do. She also has many new friends. The meals are fantastic. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. We recommend this facility very much for your loved one.

Heathwood has been a home not just a facility that cares for our mother. The personal attention she receives and the kindness and attention given from top down is impressive. From our very first meeting and consultation with staff to our move in day ( which was seamless) to mom's daily living experiences have been positive and rewarding. So many times I have heard mom say, " I'm in the right place, don't worry about me" - what a wonderful feeling for her and for us to know that she feels secure and safe and well cared for. We visit often and are greeted with warm staff welcomes and attentive personnel. All mom's needs have been met as she enjoys the assisted living perks. Thank you to all who make Heathwood a family and home to the residents.

My mother moved into Healthwood about a month ago from another Assisted Living Facility. She really loves Heathwood and is glad she made the move. Her apartment is bright, modern, and clean. The food is very good with a great variety. There are activities everyday that she can partake it. The staff has been attentive and flexible to her needs. I highly recommend Heathwood!

Overall we have had a good experience at Heathwood for going on almost 4 years now. A few hiccups with one manager who is no longer there, but that was quickly taken care of after I elevated my concerns. No place is perfect, but Heathwood is always very clean and my Mom is very complimentary of the staff and food, and that's all we can ask.

Heathwood Assisted Living and Memory Care in Penfield NY has been a tremendous experience for my mom thus far. She has had excellent support from all levels of their staff, including Director of Administrative Services, Case Management, Nursing, Residential Sales, House Cleaning, and Activities. Heathwood is a great place for seniors. The facility is clean and the staff are energetic and compassionate. The Sales Manager, Kim and her Associate, Melissa, are both great at what they do. I had a chance to tour with the both of them and it's clear they have a passion for helping seniors and their families. Great job to Kim, Melissa and the rest of the staff at Heathwood!

When this place is open and functioning - it is wonderful, services and staff. Though under lock down very depressing for the residents and family members and happening far too often.

I have been working with this community for years. Though most would think we were competitors we did the right thing always for the families. If I could give them 10 stars I would! Professional and never have I heard anything other than wonderful praises for the care. Melissa and Kim are amazing to work with. Amy the ED outstanding. The apartments are spacious and modern.

Some good things but some concerns as well, including an issue regarding NYS legislation regarding Family Councils, that has been resolved since my initial review. The Family Council has now been re-accepted by Heathwood and the Council is continue to work with Heathwood, to improve the lives of the loved ones that reside there. THE GOOD My Mom was a resident from 10'21-3'22. During the first few months, my mom was happy: the room was very nice, the food was good, the maintenance guy was exceeding helpful and friendly, and mom enjoyed the activities. The big issue we had upon arrival was that the visitation needed to be scheduled in advance, and there was a limit of ONE in-room visitor AT A TIME, in the ENTIRE building. In addition, the residents were restricted to one in-room visit (from anyone) per MONTH. This policy was later completely relaxed, after being raised by the Family Council. THE HEATHWOOD FAMILY COUNCIL An independent Family Council was formed by the families of the residents in Feb'22. In the initial four meetings, we discussed concerns and brainstormed ways to address them. It was going great, until Heathwood decided in July'22 to stop meeting. This was in violation of NYS Statute "DAL/DQS 04-06". After escalating to the NYS Ombudsmen program, this resistance has been overcome. (I have now updated this review and the rating.) THE LOCKDOWN Contrary to Heathwood response to an earlier Google review post, there WAS a lockdown 2022. It was announced in an official memo by the Administrator (Connor) on 1/6 (to be effective immediately) and wasn't even partially lifted until 1/31/22, in a follow-up memo on 1/27. It is disappointing that Heathwood is saying: "In 2022, we have NOT "locked down" the facility...". (Caps are from Heathwood's response.) The lockdown of the facility caused a mental decline in my mom and caused her to wander, in search of human contact. The 1/6 memo stated Heathwood "decided to suspend all on-site visitation and activities until further notice." "Residents will continue to eat meals in their rooms" (Which started in 2021.) Families were also told that residents could not be removed from the facility except for doctor visits. At Heathwood's Family Forum Zoom call on 1/25/22, the families expressed concern about resident isolation. Similar to the Jan 6 memo that said: "Residents are not quarantined to their rooms, and we encourage them to walk the halls as they are able.", the Case Manager (Katy) announced on the call, that they had been encouraging residents to leave their rooms all along. This was in direct conflict with the RED 8.5x11 signs that said: 'All residents are to remain in their rooms until further notice'. These were posted on the front door, the front desk AND on the inside of the door of at least some (non-COVID) residents I know of. My sister was there in January to pick up my mom for a DR appt and noticed the residents all standing at the threshold of their doors, so we know the residents had read the signs and understood the directive. The signs were removed immediately after the contradiction was pointed out during a Family Council meeting. Heathwood said their future policy will be different, but the review response isn't honest. (I will update my review if they remove the mis-statement about the lockdown.)
