Reviews The Bristal at East Northport
October 2024
Everyone my Dad and our family dealt with, who worked at the Bristal, was a class act. They were phenomenal. Whether they were cleaning his room or giving him his meds or just constantly checking in on him, they were all so kind and thoughtful. I could not have asked for a better, caring group of people looking after my Dad.

My father has been a resident of the Bristal for 5 years and he has been very happy there. He entered the facility with just a walker and being very independent but 6 months ago (5 years after moving in), he had a series of strokes that sent him to the hospital and rehab then back to the hospital and rehab. He showed signs of the first stroke at the lunch table at the Bristal and they quickly called the ambulance and got him right to the hospital. When my dad finally returned 3 months later, you would have thought a celebrity came in! To see the joy on the staff's faces made my heart happy - I knew my dad was home. Since then, I've been with him daily to help him adjust to now needing full care (dressing, toileting, showering, transfers) and the staff couldn't be more responsive to his needs. Dad's daytime aide Maria is absolutely an angel on earth and my dad counts on her to help him understand what's going on since he gets easily confused. She takes care of him like he is her own father and I so appreciate that. There are great activities like exercise classes, word and brain games, movies, art class, men's and women's groups, and excursions where they can go to some of the local stores or to outside events. I'm forever grateful to the Bristal for helping my dad live out his last days (however long that will end up being - he is almost 98 and still going pretty strong) in a clean, bright and friendly environment.

The Bristal at East Northport was the right choice for my mother. As her dementia got worse we needed a safe place. The Bristal offered a great place for mom to be cared for and engaged. They constantly adjusted to her needs as her disease progressed and they supported me as a caregiver the whole way. I would recommend Bonnie and her team whole heartedly. From administration to wellness and reflections they were always there to make this journey as manageable as possible. Dementia is a cruel disease. I am glad we had The Bristal to help us see it through.

I have to say that the East Northport Bristal staff is amazing and I am constantly impressed with them. Yesterday it was Armanda. One of the residents was having a difficult time and came to me for help. I'm a familiar face and have had pleasant conversations with her before. She wanted me to go for a walk with her away from the dining area (down the hall) and I gently told her I needed to stay in the dining area. Armanda was at her station and was doing her job but I noticed she (Armanda) kept an ear out on our conversation. I could tell when Armanda turned around and asked me a question related to my discussion with your resident. I was very pleased to see this! I'm glad Armanda was listening in. She was looking after her resident. This only reinforces how well my own mother is looked after! It's so unfortunate these people have memory care problems but knowing how protective your staff is helps me sleep nights! I have always liked Armanda but as of yesterday I can say I really like her and love how well she works. She even knows what drink they all like and pours everyone their favorite! She is an amazing woman! I also love how gentle and Sweet Anne (tall very short blonde hair) is with my mom when she feeds her her nutritional pudding. I am a big fan of all the aids who work in reflections. Noley, Sully, Chemelle are very amazing as well. They along with all the aids (I'm bad at remembering all their names but that doesn't mean they work so hard and so lovingly!) are so kind and wonderful with the residents. The wellness staff has not only been amazing to my mom but to me as well! Their help, guidance and advice has helped me so very much with my mothers journey in Dementia. Lastly you should know I asked Simone how old she was yesterday. Is that a nervy question? Yes it is! But you have to know it's a selfish one because I was very relieved to know that she is young enough to take care of me when I need the memory care unit! Her support and guidance in helping me cope with dementia has been a life saver! I never realized all the support I would receive when placing my mother in your care! You have quite a wonderful crew working in Reflections! Your recreation staff is also very amazing! The memory care programs are very impressive. And the staff personalities are fun, positive, up beat and so very talented! Can't thank the entire staff enough!

My Dad spent four years at The Bristal of East Northport, NY, living in their fabulous memory care section, Reflections. Over the years, in addition to his children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren visiting him constantly, many of his nieces and nephews came to spend time with him. My 5-star review of this wonderful facility represents the feedback I've received from all these people: As is the case with all of The Bristal, Reflections is aesthetically designed and decorated providing a living environment filled with color, texture, and light. Its immaculate condition offers a healthy, safe and comfortable environment to the residents and it's self-contained outdoor patio and yard provides space for nature's serenity. A definite strong point is their staff ... well-trained, knowledgeable, patient, and extremely caring. This 30-person community allows for staff-resident personal connections that significantly enhances a resident's day-to-day experience. A monthly calendar of specifically-designed events is full of engaging, meaningful, and lively activities, including a few well-chaperoned off-site day trips. On-site nurses and visiting physicians provide top-notch medical services. Bonnie Hope, LMSW, is the Executive Director of The Bristal at East Northport. She and her staff run a well-managed, highly supportive, and responsive facility. The "heart" of Reflections is their Director, Ms. Simmone Tyson. Ms. Tyson is highly skilled and experienced and, together with her open-door policy, offers a connection to family members that is invaluable. When our family required much-needed guidance and support over the years, Simmone and her staff were there for us. The bottom line is that the last four years of my Dad's life was significantly better because of The Bristal, its facilities, and its incredible staff.

Our mom, Virginia Lane, has been a 1 year resident at the Bristal in East Northport, NY in the Reflections unit. From the first day that we met Paul Jordan and Simmone Tyson we knew it was where we wanted our mom to be. It just feels like "HOME " from the warmth of the entire staff to the pristine surroundings it is very impressive. The meals are delicious (as per mom) and beautifully presented. Her apartment was bright, cheerful and kept immaculately clean as were all the public areas and the gardens are serene and well manicured. The staff's friendly and cheerful demeanor shows and is reflected in the residents smiles. There's so much to do from bus trips to entertainment which encourages socializing among the residents. We are grateful to all the wonderful staff especially Simmone Tyson, Veronica and Mary(medical) and Farrah, Mary, Noly, Charnelle, Shante, Orlando and Flaubert(aids). The Bristal at East Northport provided a caring, safe environment for my parents who were in their mid 90's. It was clear they could not live on their own and we explored several options before settling on the Bristal and we couldn't have been happier. They had a personal relationship with many of the caring staff members. The nurses in wellness were always available and we had great communication on a regular basis. The entire staff worked very hard and engaged in a friendly manner with the residents. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Bristal at East Northport for anyone looking for excellent care for their older family members.

The Bristal is an elegant, dignified setting for the elderly to live. My mother was able to reside at the Bristal located in East Northport, NY in the Memory Care Unit for one year, and this delayed us having to place her in a nursing home. The level of care offered, and the attention to each resident's individual needs is what made the difference. The Bristal is like a fine hotel enhanced with a professional staff overseeing each resident's day-to-day activities. The Bristal is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, serves fine food and has a cheerful staff that is kind and loving toward their residents.

It has been a wonderful experience for my mother in law. The entire staff at the bristal made this a seamless transition for her. She is having a wonderful time enjoying many activities that the Bristal provides. She has also met many nice friends to socialize with. I highly recommend the Bristal in East Northport.
August 2019
The Bristal at East Northport exceeded my familie's expectations in caring for our Dad in every way. Staff was always attentive and caring, professional and polite, and accommodated our every request in a timely manner. Dad enjoyed the food from the start and once he settled in, appreciared the warm family feel of the facility, all due to the staff. From the first meeting with the director through every visit and to our final meeting, five stars all the way.

Kudos to the Bristal and their Community Relations Director, Paul Jordan. I brought my mom to look at the Bristal, she was resistant to moving into this type of environment. Paul's intrinsic nature and his empathetic and caring way with my mom convinced her that it might be time to move. Paul was able to show my mom how good this new environment could be for her and truly understood her reservations. HIs friendly way and his inclusive interaction with the staff and residents convinced her that the Bristal could be a lovely new place for her. Paul has continue to follow up with her to insure that when she is ready the Bristal will support her.
May 2019
Pleased to say that the staff tries to keep the residents engaged in activities. They maintain a very clean facility both in the common areas and apartments. Medical staff have been responsive to inquiries. The only area of concern is the food service. We receive continued complaints that food is not served hot and is often overcooked. Otherwise, the family can rest easy knowing that their loved one is cared for.
