The Coterie Hudson yards has been a lifesaver for my family and myself. My husband has very advanced early onset Alzheimer’s, this being said because he’s still young and extremely physically strong. We had been experiencing extreme aggressive behavior before deciding that we had no other choice but to put him in a home. The first place was an absolute disaster, however through that we were armed with lots of new information and decided to try the Coterie which we loved for many reasons but mostly for their updated methods in dealing with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. I went in extremely nervous but by day one, my husband seemed content. The kindness of all the staff, the engagement with the residents on every floor including the restaurant are beyond anything I expected. The care and knowledge that they have, helped me feel so comfortable that I’m taking my first trip out of the country with the knowledge that he’s safe and well taken care of. One thing I’ll add is that we have our own aides, only because my husband can’t be left alone anymore, however we do receive a lot of support from the exceptional Coterie staff. Every wish is granted, my husband is engaged in the many other offerings so that his mind and body are kept active. The area: while I was worried about being in Hudson yards which always felt very un-New york is actually incredibly well placed, a few blocks away is Chelsea known for its hundreds of galleries and great restaurants. Walks along the high line are steps away. The beautiful little park behind the coterie is a lovely place to sit in nice weather, the proximity to subways are easy. Negatives: I wish that places like this were affordable for everyone in this position.

UPDATE (March 11, 2026): Coterie has now reimbursed the full replacement cost of my mother’s dentures. I appreciate that resolution. The review below reflects the experience and concerns that led up to that outcome. My mother lived at Coterie Hudson Yards for nearly three years and was one of the founding residents. She is cognitively sharp, engaged, and energetic and truly participated in the life of the community. Our family was very involved and collaborative, consistently trying to work with the team and problem-solve in good faith. There is real goodness at Coterie, driven by many attentive staff who treated my mother with warmth, dignity, and genuine care and made her feel safe and seen. I will be recognizing those individuals directly with Coterie because they deserve that acknowledgment. At the same time, during her residency we experienced repeated operational breakdowns, especially jarring given the steep price point and the we’ll take it from here promise presented at move-in. One incident illustrates this clearly: my mother’s medically necessary dentures went missing while she was a resident. The response that followed revealed, in our experience, a failure of stewardship and accountability. In an assisted living community, families rely on a licensed care setting to safeguard residents and follow appropriate protocols when something goes wrong. Dentures are an essential medical device tied to nutrition, health, communication, and dignity. When a 91-year-old resident’s dentures disappear within the systems a facility controls and among staff who have access, families reasonably expect clear documentation, escalation, and accountability. In our experience, we did not see timely documentation, clear incident handling, or immediate coordination of follow-up care. What should have been handled with urgency became drawn out and procedural. The repeated refrain that my concerns would be passed to Legal was unsettling; families need accountable leadership at the community level when something affects a resident’s health and dignity. It was difficult to reconcile that this loss ” a significant financial burden for a 91-year-old resident on a fixed income ” appeared to be treated primarily as a liability question rather than a resident care issue. There were also ongoing challenges during her residency, including sustained construction noise from a neighboring building by the same developer, persistent dining shortcomings, and wellness/assessment protocol issues that required significant family monitoring and repeated course correction. Families should also be aware of high leadership turnover. During my mother’s residency, Coterie had three General Managers in under three years along with frequent departures across key roles. In our experience, that level of turnover made consistency and follow-through difficult when issues arose. For transparency: a Senior Vice President at Atria once asked me to write a Google review and suggested omitting my concerns about dining shortcomings, even though she agreed with them. I chose not to write anything then because I hoped Coterie would improve and was not willing to publish a review that excluded material concerns we were experiencing. When a resident’s health, nutrition, dignity, or essential functioning is at stake, families deserve urgency, transparency, and accountable leadership. In our experience that standard was not met, and alongside other operational concerns I hesitate to recommend Coterie. The true measure of a community is how it responds when something goes wrong and whether it stands behind the care it promises to provide. This review reflects our family’s firsthand experience during my mother’s residency and is shared so other families evaluating assisted living options can make informed decisions.

But every single week, I find myself thanking the team in person, and recently someone said to me, You should really put this in a review. And they’re right. I feel like I must share what Coterie Hudson Yards has done for my mother and for me. After my father passed away, I felt like I was slowly losing my mom, too. She became lonely, withdrawn, and depressed. She didn’t want to go out. She didn’t want to see anyone. The vibrant, social woman I had always known just faded. It was heartbreaking. I didn’t know what to do. I felt helpless watching my best friend slip away. Friends of mine who had moved their parents to Coterie suggested I at least go take a look. From the moment I walked in, I felt the warmth, kindness, and sincerity. The staff and management weren’t just polite, they were genuinely caring. Still, even with that good feeling, I never could have imagined the transformation that would happen. The love and care my mother receives every single day is extraordinary. The team doesn’t just look after her, they truly see her. They engage her. They encourage her. They gave her something I didn’t know how to give back to her on my own: purpose. Today, I have my mom back. My best friend is back. Now she’s the one inviting me out to events, to dinners, to art exhibits. She introduces me proudly to all her new friends. She’s laughing again. She’s social. She’s excited about life. We spend time together not out of worry, but out of joy. I cannot put into words what that means to me. To the entire team at Coterie, thank you. My name is Ken Turner I have 25 years in the United States Marine corps I was married for 18 years my wife passed away I came to this wonderful community these people gave me the utmost respect these people know how to treat people when I came to this community they roll out the red carpet for me they pick me up they got me here when I got to the apartment I had to cut the ribbon when I came into my apartment they all came in and had some wine and they toast to my new place it was all because a place for moms told me to come here but before I got here I went to a place it's called watermark the place never gave me the right treatment they gave me a panic alarm I hit the panic alarm I fell in the dining room no one didn't come help me I was down a long time but once I got up I left and came here I wish I would have came here like I should have but things happen for a reason this place is the best and it's outstanding I want to think to the staff the administrator the cook in the kitchen and those that work here thank you for your wonderful experience that you gave me I have to give these people five stars because they're better than any Independent living the other places do not give you respect but I'm glad that I found the place that will give you nothing but respect and make sure you fell at home thanks to the staff and everyone these are the pictures when I got here

Finding the right place for her to feel cared for and supported was so important, and I can honestly say the Coterie has exceeded every expectation. The level of compassion here is unmatched. Today, my husband and I visited my aunt at The Coterie. From the moment we walked in the door till the moment we left, we were greeted professionally by the friendliest people. We Personally saw Ty, Rufaro, & Azrielle at the front desk. They were so welcoming, offered us drinks, asked if they could get us anything, & made us feel so comfortable. They were so helpful in telling us where we would find our aunt. Azrielle Went out of her way to find my reading glasses that I had left there. Then we went upstairs and saw Maria taking care of my aunt & When we went up to the Coterie club we We helped by many of the workers up there. Ian, the bartender, made a special juice drink that he always makes for my aunt and he made one for us to taste. On our way out both times we saw A manager who we told all compliments to, I did not get his name and then we saw Shakira who was so friendly and sweet.

The apartments and public spaces are beautiful, the staff warm and friendly, and the amenities, amazing. After a number of years at different assisted living facilities and memory care units in the Boston area, we have settled on a great place for my mother to spend her days. Coterie Hudson yards has met her daily needs with a nurturing kindness that few can match. The staff are wonderful people who treat mom as if she were their own. Every member (at least 50 people) at the facility knows mom by name and they always greet her with warmth. The memory care unit manager is excellent, and the residents are always given stimulating activities to take part in. On regular occasion, professional musicians come to play on her floor, there are art enrichment classes, a great exercise instructor and lovely engagement staff. The nursing and wellness members are always very quick to address any health issues and show a kindness that can melt hearts. The janitorial staff are courteous and incredibly fastidious. The suite that mother is in always looks impeccable. The food service is excellent, far above any institutions that mother has been at over the last six years--and there have been quite a few. I bring mom up to the main dining room for lunch. Memory care serves meals as well, but the view and verandas on the main dining level are fantastic. Dietary restrictions are always met. The food is actually delicious--and I would know since I eat there every day. They truly are a cut above the rest. Most requests are met as far as food choices. There is an extensive menu that can be customized on the fly--chefs always try to honor requests if at all possible. The two daily lunch specials are inventive and always a welcome change. The waitstaff and managers are welcoming, alert and have a soft touch with the residents. I have rarely seen such patience and kindness. I would not hesitate to recommend Coterie for any family member that needs tender, kindhearted care in lovely surroundings. I would say that her experience here has gone unmatched by any facility. It has been a pleasure to have her cared for by such fine people.

Working at Coterie Hudson Yards was such a great experience! We brought our tasseomancy (tea leaf reading) services from Magical Memories Entertainment to their event, and the whole vibe of the space was just perfect for it: elegant, calm, and super welcoming. The team at Coterie was fantastic. From the moment we arrived, they were helpful, organized, and really easy to work with. They took care of all the little things that help make an event run smooth and let us focus on doing what we do best; creating unique, magical experiences for guests. The layout of the venue made everything flow naturally. It gave our reader a quiet and cozy space that really helped set the mood for the readings. Guests were comfortable, engaged, and really seemed to appreciate the whole atmosphere. We’re super thankful to the staff at Coterie Hudson Yards for being so professional and supportive. Coterie on west 35 street is a gem. My husband just spent 3 months there for rehab after 6 months being ill. I am an elder law attorney and have been to many nursing homes, assisted living and independent facilities and there is no better than Coterie. At some other places you get a fair number of people who really make it clear they don’t want to work there. Not so at Coterie. The people are gracious but not obsequious. The care is special and careful. There is a first class nurse staff 24/7 and an excellent doctor but you can use your own or both. The aides are always friendly and help easily. They take medicine very seriously and have daily physical therapy sometimes multiple times a day along with a great gym and spa. Daily and monthly activities are often very interesting. One special benefit is that they drive you any place in Manhattan for free or get you an uber also for free. So all those doctors’ appointments or trips to the theatre are taken care of by Coterie. We looked at other places and while this was more expensive it is totally worth it. The food is exceptional as good as any top restaurant along with wait staff who are just so charming. This review seems over the top but it is the way we feel. My husband is so much healthier and I credit Coterie for a big part of this.

My experience at Coterie in January was wonderful! The staff and residents alike were extremely friendly and welcoming. In short order I was able to join many people for meals and felt quite comfortable with my new friends. In addition to being friendly and welcoming, the entire staff deserves special attention for trying so hard to please the residents. No request is a bother and mine were always filled with graciousness and good humor; this was true from the people who cleaned the rooms to the wait staff in the dining room as well as the managers, etc. Coterie's programs and activities as well as their well equipped gym kept me busy. In addition to the two museum excursions I joined and thoroughly enjoyed I hardly noticed the horrid January weather we were experiencing! There were many other interesting activities throughout each day which kept me busy. When I am ready to relocate, Coterie is my first choice!

If you're looking for the perfect community for your loved one in NYC, look no further! I recently toured this location with my mother, and from the moment I walked into the reception area, I was impressed. As I waited for the community's sales director, I couldn’t help but notice how the receptionist (I apologize if that’s not their official title!) handled calls from residents needing assistance with their car service reservations. The way he addressed each resident by name and the care he showed in those interactions really stood out to me. It was clear he knew the residents personally, and I loved seeing that level of attention. Then, I was greeted by the wonderful Kat Flanders, who made me feel incredibly welcome. She was thorough in answering all my questions and really knowledgeable about the community and the amenities they offer. The place itself was in pristine condition”everything was spotless, and the staff greeted me warmly as I passed by. During the tour, I also saw residents stop to chat with Kat, and it was clear she has strong relationships with everyone. That personal touch really made me feel comfortable recommending this community for my mother.

Losing a loved one to the ravages of dementia is awful. Coterie makes the best out of a terrible situation. I am thankful for the outstanding level of care they provide to Residents on the 5th Floor Memory Care unit. Their compassion, kindness, and patience are superlative. They keep the place immaculate. They put a lot of thought and resources into engaging the Residents with a multitude of structured activities, including supervised field trips off-premises to NYC cultural institutions such as MoMA and the Met. Special kudos to Amanda, the Director, whose passion and dedication to the well-being of both the Residents and their caretakers is frankly amazing. If I were so unfortunate as to have dementia, this is where I would want to reside and be taken care of. Updating to reiterate everything I said before and also to commend Elsa, the new Director, who has gone out of her way to keep me in touch with my loved one by frequently updating me on his activities and sending me photos.

I searched all over Manhattan for the right place for Mom for assisted living and Coterie Hudson Yards was it -- far and beyond the best place we visited. Mom was one of the first people to move into the residence in January 2023 and she and I couldn't be more pleased. Beyond the beauty of the property, the high quality food, the great location and the lovely appointments to the rooms and facility on a whole, by far the best thing about Coterie is the amazing staff! Every singe member of the staff is so friendly, kind, warm and wanting to be of service. I love knowing my mother is in a place where she is truly cared for and safe. VERY PLEASANT, POSITIVE "CAN DO" STAFF, HELPFUL, WILLING. Apartments extremely quiet due to heavy walls and solid wood doors. Good facilities, clean, bright enormous windows. Food is excellent, though greater variety is desirable. Good care for those who need care, but not nearly needed by most residents. Good inhouse programs as well as outside trips.Gratuitous transportation around NYC area upon request.

This is mom's 3rd memory unit and by far the best. Although the physical space is gorgeous, views expansive and rooms luxurious, the true difference is the amazing staff. They are interested, energetic, enthusiastic, kind. Too many to name but Amanda runs the memory floors smoothly, not an easy task, Jojo, Kashi and Khady have made mom's almost year there wonderful and the daily care exceptional. Dani makes every outing feel like a luxurious travel experience, and the dining staff including Jaylen make mom feel like an honored guest. Activities staff including Peach and Sondra truly amazing. Makes me tear up to watch what they do. You get what you pay for in this case, which is a lot. Very grateful that mom can spend this stage of her life here.

Our Family

Great place for my dad. He's been living there about a year now and his apartment is beautiful and he's grown attached to the caregivers and made friends with the staff and residents there. The location is fabulous as are the common areas and there is a doctor there on site every week. Special shoutouts to Joanna and Gifty, Lorie and Amanda, and the rest of the staff. Thanks for providing a warm and nurturing environment.

We have been fortunate to be part of the Coterie community for slightly more than 6 months. My wife is part of the assisted living residents while I am an independent resident. It has been a great experience for many reasons. When asked my wife merrily answers that it is great to be here. What is great? We are fully cared for, including wonderful meals. We have had the opportunity to be more socially active than in the years prior to coming to Coterie. In addition to wonderful music experiences a few times a week, there are opportunities outside of the community at museums and other cultural events. When looking where to reside we were looking for not only a couple that had our current activities in mind, but that would also accept our pets - 2 littermate cat sisters - and provide an internal social environment that would challenge both someone in assisted living and someone who is fully independent.
