When my 95 yr old Dad broke his hip, due to his age, his recovery was slow. When his Medicare allowance period ran out he still need supervised oversight, so he was moved to the Arbors Assisted Living facility in Islandia where he continued his rehab. This facility was just what he needed! The staff were always friendly, caring, and dependable. Dad made many friends which improved his outlook and motivated him. In addition to a variety of services and amenities, that included housekeeping, hair and nail services maintenance, medication oversight, there were weekly excursions to restaurants and shopping! Of course Dad was happy to return to his own home, but he has often said he enjoyed his time spent at the Arbors. Our family is VERY GRATEFUL to them for helping Dad to get back home!

I want give a huge shout out to Meghan,Tariek, Alexis, Evelyn, Scott and Tawanda. I met all 6 at the community and each one was absolutely great to talk with as they explained to me how the community functions. I have been to 3 Arbor communities on Long Island and every single one has a very good leadership team. I commend them all for their dedication to the industry and I am just glad that there are people that truly care about seniors that are in positions to make a difference regarding their care. Meghan heads a great team there. 5 stars......I HIGHLY recommend them.

I can’t say enough about the arbors at islandia east. Not only was I happily employed here for over 2 years, but both my own step-grandmother and my best friends grandfather moved into their memory care community, Safecare. I can honestly say it has been nothing but positive from the start. My step moms only complaint is that she thinks her mothers dementia is getting better!! That’s how amazing they are. The building is so well kept, the maintenance team is on top of everything as soon as possible and the recreation department keeps the residents happily engaged and entertained. The leadership is top of the line and I cannot say enough about the wellness department, case manager and of course, executive director. Thank you to everyone for keeping my family happy, safe, and healthy!

Perfect new home for my Mother in Law. It was probably the hardest decision we had to make, but it was absolutely the right choice. The staff is amazing and so caring, it's extremely clean, the decor is bright and updated and the food is delicious (according to my Italian Mother in Law). She went no where before entering the Arbors and was not social at all. But now.... she goes on day trips, established friendships and is more social than ever! I highly recommend the Arbors, especially for the memory impaired. So happy we found a gem like this!

Having to make the decision to move our Mom to assisted living was difficult however just 3 months in and she is thriving! I can't say enough about the caring staff, cleanliness and all of the activities Mom has the ability to participate in each day. Each day Mom is treated with care, support and a positive attitude, and the physical therapy she received even has her walking better. Thank you Arbors East team, you are truly making a difference.

After months of time to reflect on my mother's care at the Arbors, I can honestly say the sales director sold me a bill of lies. My mom was often wearing the same clothes, some weeks for five days in a row; sadly, this occurred multiple times. Her room was not clean, and dust was everywhere. See attached photos. On several occasions, dirty towels were taken from her bathroom, but no clean replacement towels were provided. The food was very poor; my mother had dementia and at times was given spoiled milk; plus, the juices were watered down, and the menu did not match what was served to dementia residents. No dietary menu for any resident. So, if a loved one is ill, they will not have an option for chicken soup, broth, or toast. There were five instances where my mom was not administered her medications. There is no nurse on staff, and Wellness is not medically certified to make an assessment. If your loved one has dementia, I strongly warn against placing them in the care of the Arbors. My mom was in Transitions (floor for dementia residents), and I only learned about anything I described above because my father was also a resident but cognitive. There was some caring staff who confided in me about their experiences as well. It's because of these people I gave a 2-star review. Otherwise, I would have given less of a rating. I was told that the overnight staff for Transitions would sleep on the couches instead of doing their routine resident checks. If your loved one has dementia, he or she will never know what food is served, its quality, if they are wearing the same clothes every day, or what medications are administered or not administered. I spoke to an outside social worker about the medication mistakes; she was horrified and gravely concerned about this. An external nurse who came to see my mom told me, "Your mom is not safe here." She explained that the Wellness staff would not supply a Tylenol because they can't do so because they are not certified nurses; however, according to the outside nurse, all the Wellness member had to do was call the Arbor's doctor on call and get permission, but the Wellness member did not do that. Look into an assisted living facility that has registered nurses on staff. Regarding the food, each time the case manager was informed about the curdled milk. I came to learn there was no dietary menu when my mom did not feel well. I was told by the case manager and dietician that the Arbor's works on a case-by-case basis with residents and their families. So, if your elderly relative does not feel well, there is no chicken soup, toast, or food that is suitable for an ill resident; there is no special menu. There was one instance when my mom ate shrimp, which broke out in hives across her body, so I spoke to the case manager and the dietician and instructed them that my mom was not to be served seafood anymore. They told me they could not guarantee this but would speak to the servers. The very next day, my mom was served seafood bisque. If your loved one has dementia, they cannot communicate to you what is truly going on. Shame on the Arbors for allowing this to happen to any resident.

My aunt is at the Arbors Islandia West and we were very happy with how easy it was to get her in and situated. She is 98 and came from rehab after breaking her leg, so there were some special needs that she needed to get settled in and the staff has really helped to make it an easy transition for her. The staff has been so easy to work with and they have done a wonderful job with making her feel at home as well. I really appreciate how they pay attention to the little details and keep me posted especially since I live out of town. I had three days to find a place for my aunt and Im so happy that I found The Arbors!

My mothers been at The Arbors East over a year and a half and it was the best decision we couldve made. She loves the staff, everyone is friendly and exceptionally good to her. She is very happy with the food, the quality and selection and, as she puts it the goodies in the afternoon. She plays mahjongg, canasta, and several card games. She participates in the trips out on their bus, to the movies and stores, but not to the restaurants because she says she likes the food there, so why bother. Her medical care is taken care of by the efficient Wellness Center and the doctors who visit her there regularly. All-in-all we couldnt be happier - highly recommended!

I would highly recommend The Arbors in Bohemia. We actually tried a different assisted living facility first and were very disappointed when were arrived to check out the Arbors we knew right away this was the right fit. The staff is great, the building is bright and the rooms are large and clean. They have a ton of activities to keep everyone busy and most importantly they make you feel at home. What more can you ask for?

Hello , my name is Marion I have been living at the Arbor of Hauppauge for the past year. I am very happy living here. Like many, initially I had my doubts, it was a new experience, new environment I was worried about fitting in. I was so amazed at how nice the personnel was in helping me adjust. There were activities for me to participate in, trips, religious programs and games galore. While attending these programs I have gained so many wonderful friends. We hang out with each other throughout the day we even know each others families. I love how I no longer have the responsibility of doing laundry or cooking. I just enjoy each day as it comes. Special thanks to the entire staff for all that they have done for me and others. This was the best move my children could have made for me. I would recommend this community to anyone.

I would highly recommend The Arbors Assisted Living to anyone searching for Assisted Living for their loved one.

My Mom has lived in The Arbors of Bohemia for the last 6 1, 2 years. She has really felt like it is her home and enjoyed the staff, food and activities. The lady who initially showed us around said it is like a cruise ship on land and that is how we felt. Mom had a lovely single room with her own furniture and was very proud of her place. She is moving on to Affinity Skilled Nursing and is sad to be leaving her friends but always open to new experiences

My parents have been there for a short while now. They both like it and the social interaction has been great for my mother. The staff have all been wonderful. The night nurse saved my fathers life by getting him to the ER when she saw he was not responding well to some changes in medication. Overall a positive experience. Id give it 5 stars but the decor and grounds could use some updating. Not at all bad, just clearly not new. The grounds are scheduled for a complete revamp this Spring so that will be great.
July 2017
My mom was a resident at Arbors Islandia West until her dementia got to the point where she needed to go into a LTC facility. I cant thank the Arbors administrative and management staff enough for providing my mom with the best care she could ever have hoped for these past 2 years. They were absolutely wonderful and extremely caring toward her the entire time. I only wished that she could have stayed there longer. I highly, highly recommend this assisted living facility, especially to anyone who is apprehensive about moving an elderly parent out of a home theyve been in all their lives. My mom was in her house for 60 years, and one of our biggest concerns was making the move and transitioning her to the new place. The Arbors made it a very seamless process, and made my mom feel right at home from day one. A very attentive and genuinely caring place.
