Bear Creek – Reviews
July 2022
I am happy to be a resident at Bear Creek Assisted Living. The directors, the chefs, the aides, the nurses are all doing a great job. They care for us so much.! The events are very interesting. I love the art events and most of them are hanging in my room.Sometimes I just sit outside and read and look at all the trees. What a wonderful view!

I have to say Bear Creek Assisted Living gives so much love, attention and dedication to all their residents. It’s amazing to see all the things they are involved in. From celebrating holidays, birthdays, doing crafts and even raising money for special things. Seeing the smiles on all the staff members and residents faces are truly priceless. I feel the residents are blessed with amazing staff!

I’ve been teaching a painting class for the residents of Bear Creek for the last year. It’s a very warm and welcoming community. I always get a great turnout because the staff really encourages them to get involved. It’s been a joy for me to watch them take such an interest in my art program. Many of the participants have become very skilled artists. Love the community as a whole, the staff and residents are wonderful. Can’t wait for my next visit.

Moving my mother from our family home to an Assisted Living community near to me was not a decision she or I took lightly. Because I work in the Eldercare space, I reached out to colleagues for suggestions on AL communities to tour. I wanted something small, intimate, close to my home and where down the road if we needed Medicaid, it was a possibility. Bear Creek was one of the suggestions and as soon as I walked in, I felt like this could be a good fit for mom. Thank goodness I was right. The willingness of the staff to make mom feel at home, taken care of and an important part of the community was apparent from the first time I brought her there. I appreciate so much their willingness to make changes to mom’s room that would fit her better. Even allowing me to swap out their thermostat with one I could control from my phone. A special thanks to the maintenance crew for making the requested changes. I appreciate their effort to make sure mom participates in activities. The activity and marketing director in conjunction with food service director have created unusual and fun activities that go beyond bingo. In the short time mom has been there, I have witnessed a lecture with a live penguin as the precursor to a black and white ball, celebrated the 99th birthday of a resident and gone to lunch with mom and other residents to a local restaurant. They have celebrated Juneteenth, a picnic and done many lectures on special days and people, all of which mom enjoyed. I appreciate their understanding that her personal schedule means making sure she has something light to eat before going down to lunch. I appreciate the food service director taking the time to understand mom’s likes and dislikes and doing what she can to meet those desires. I appreciate how closely the nursing staff watches out for her and how responsive they are to my questions. Mom REALLY appreciates that my Malshi, Tucker is welcome to visit anytime. He loves saying hello to all the residents and they enjoy petting him. As for mom, not seeing Tucker often was her biggest regret about moving out of her home. I am glad to say she is adjusting well. I can even tell you that the other day she called Bear Creek “home.”

My mother-in-law moved to Bear Creek in 2013 with no significant health issues and an active, engaged mind. While uncertain about this change at the start, she came to thrive with the activities, new friends, and caring staff. Indicative of our collective happiness, I moved my mother to Bear Creek in 2019. My mother had suffered a debilitating stroke and needed significant help, so I was able to see Bear Creeks care from two quite different perspectives.Through the years and my daily visits, I came to know much of the staff and residents. I understood from my history at Bear Creek that problems would crop up, and this is where the staff shined. Any concerns were listened to with patience and without defensiveness. The management team had a lets-get-this-problem-solved attitude and so solutions came to be. I especially appreciated this with my mother given her many daily challenges. One point of advice I would give any family considering moving a parent into assisted living is to realize that the work serving (an important and intentional term) residents is difficult. And the repetition of these challenges every day takes a certain heart. The vast majority of Bear Creeks caregiving staff have this heart. For those that didnt quite fit my mothers needs, changes were made with understanding. This is the familys key role: You are an advocate for your loved one. An ability to translate the nuances of this is what my mother needs is essential to fine-tuning details of care.A move to assisted living is usually the last stage of a loved ones life as it was with my family. My mother-in-law passed away in November 2020 at 101, and my mother passed away in May 2021 at age 86. Both spent their last weeks in hospice care, and I will be forever touched by the dignity Bear Creek gave to each of them.Let me give my mother as an example of living and dying with dignity. Prior to her stroke, my mom was intensely involved with life from playing the piano to painting and drawing to socializing with many friends to French class to church to travel. The day of her stroke, all of this was taken away. The dignity with which she lived her life was important to her even with her new - and many - disabilities. The team at Bear Creek understood this. My mom wasnt just a task on a daily list of tasks but a person worth knowing, and her daily care team did just that (even with the challenge of my moms slow speech). My mom was bedridden in her last days with daily palliative care. I came to learn that dying with dignity is not about grand gestures but the sum of many small things done every day with the persons care as the guiding light. For my mom, this was being changed from her nightgown into a new shirt; being washed and freshened; brushing and styling her hair; administering pain medication promptly and with sweet words; sitting by her side talking to her.Im thankful for Bear Creek in every respect.

My experience was positive. The facility was clean and well maintained. The staff was awsome.

After joining the team at Bear Creek and being here for almost a year, I couldnt have asked for better co-workers! The staff is so welcoming and they really care about their residents. They go above and beyond to keep the residents happy and satisfied!

I worked at Bear Creek as a Nursing Supervisor for nearly 3 years. Although I chose to move on shortly after the pandemic to gain more experience and go back to school for my RN, I cant say enough about them! The amount of love and commitment that goes into caring for the AL and Memory care residents is truly like no other. The Executive Director and management team are extremely supportive for all staff members. They really proved how much they cherished their staff and love their residents during the pandemic. I will always continue to recommend my own family members to Bear Creek!

In my 4.5 years of working at Bear Creek I can honestly say it has been a great experience. Everyone works together from the care staff to the dining service team. You can tell the residents are happy and cared for from the moment you walk in the door. It truly is a positive environment and I would highly recommend the community to anyone looking for either a new home or work opportunity!

I started at Bear Creek in October of 2019 working as a Lifestyles Associate. The interviewing supervisor informed me that there would be room for growth and opportunity with the company and she was not kidding. Within less than a year I was promoted to a director position. I had always felt supported by the leaders in the community as well as management. The corporate team is very hands on and always there when you need them to be. Our Director of Operations even drove up from corporate headquarters to provide support to us and our teams during the height of the pandemic. Bear Creek really is the community that treats you like family and I couldnt be more proud to work for such a community.

Bear Creek Assisted Living literally gave my sister her life back! Being disabled and wheelchair-bound, my sister moved to Bear Creek two and a half years ago. Since then, her quality of life has improved dramatically! She has a lovely apartment, many friendly residents to socialize with, and many activities to participate in. She has taken advantage of physical therapy and fitness programs offered on the premises. There are many caring staff members to assist her with all her personal needs. And she loves the food! I highly recommend this lovely, caring, well-run community!

I cant say enough positive things about Bear Creek Assisted Living in West Windsor, N.J. They really take into consideration each persons abilities. My uncle has been there since January 2020 and is able to take walks outside on the spacious grounds (unlike most facilities that Ive seen). Hes gone into the community on day trips pre and post covid now. The staff is very thoughtful and they communicate with family members on the well being of the resident. The place smells good when you walk in. Im very glad that I came across Bear Creek. Its definitely worth visiting.

My wife has lived in Bear Creek for about 30 months. She has lived in both the Assisted Living and the Memory Care Communities. Living at Bear Creek is very different from other facilities providing similar services. Beer creek has established a culture of respect for the residents and it shows in the daily activities and support given by the staff at all levels of care and management, using a seamless teamwork approach that shows a loving attitude when caring for the residents. On a more mundane note, the food is great and the facility maintenance is top notch.Bear Creek was my first choice at the time we made the difficult and emotional decision that she required a care that could no longer be done at home, My observations since then, at both Bear Creak and visits to friends in other facilities, just further supports and strengthens my original decision.

Mom has been a resident for nearly 2 years. She is very happy here. Management and staff has done an excellent job keeping the residents safe during covid-19. The associates are friendly and helpful. The facility is clean. The dining experience is a pleasure. I would recommend for anyone seeking a 5 star experience Thank you Bear Creek.

Dear Bear Creek Team,My family and I are deeply grateful to everyone at Bear Creek, from Joanna Scoles, to Sara Anne Satterfield and all the caregivers in Rose Lane who cared for my husband Alan Jacobs for the 4 1-2 months he was there before God summoned him. Your empathy, your meeting the challenges of his Alzheimers situation were much appreciated. My Love Alan was not a placid memory care resident. He had behavior issues between his periods of clarity, yet you set him up with his office desk, and gave him kudos for his coloring efforts, you sent me photos of when he participated in activities, and when he needed to slow dance, the caregivers were sweet to partner with him. You allowed me to wear my nurse case manager hat, and text you my concerns to which I welcomed your dialog. The pandemic isolation was necessary but sad, which made the brief window visits welcomed. Our last outdoor visit one month before Alan passed was joyful, and I replay my video of that day often. Thank goodness for technology. Our last five days with Alan were blessed, as we sat at his bedside story-telling, praying, and singing softly. Both your staff and Hospice were attentive and compassionate, Please know you have my heartfelt thanks. I have spoken highly of Bear Creek to friends and family.Gratefully,Abby Jacobs

My mom moved to Bear Creek two years ago. She was immediately welcomed by staff and residents alike. I have been very pleased by the consistent responsiveness from the Executive Director and the Nursing Director. Both have shown me so much empathy and compassion when discussing my moms ongoing health concerns. This has helped me feel supported through some difficult times.Once the pandemic hit along with the ensuing lockdown, the entire Bear Creek staff were suddenly challenged with the task of finding new ways to provide support to the residents. This was especially true for the Activities staff. They fulfilled requests that would normally be handled by family members, such as unpacking deliveries, organizing closets, etc. Their cheerful demeanor when bringing my mom to outdoor visits was such a comfort. Overall, they exhibited an uncanny ability to bring normalcy to a very unprecedented time period.Bear Creek has been a blessing for my mom and our family!

My mother has lived at Bear Creek for 7 years. The staff at Bear Creek are devoted, loving and all so very special! They truly go out of their way to make the residents and their families comfortable. Even during these difficult times, they remained in touch with us and helping to ease our fears. Its a beautiful community and we are thankful that our mother calls Bear Creek home!

We looked at close to 7 communities before making our decision. Bear Creek was our top choice and the best decision my mother has made. My mother resides in the Assisted Living neighborhood and she is living life again! She has built friendships that she truly cherishes and the social activities brighten her days and spirit. She enjoys going on outings to restaurants, shows and shopping trips. The directors are warm, communicative and responsive and the care staff truly goes the extra mile. I feel blessed to have found Bear Creek. My mother hasn't been this happy in years!
