My team and I were here throwing a small Summer party for the seniors which was such a fun time! Through all the dancing, singing, and snack eating, the one person that stuck out was Jennifer Daclan. She is a Director there and I have never seen anyone more attentive than her! She was not only ensuring that all the seniors had everything that they needed but also making sure we were nicely set up. Her attention to detail made me realize that once my mom is older and in need of this type of care, this is going to be the place! Thanks Canterbury and JENNIFER!!!

I highly recommend Canterbury Village of West Orange for any family looking for an ALF that provides outstanding and compassionate care while letting your loved one maintain their independence. My mother was a resident there for about a year, and through the beginning of the COVID crisis. The effort on the part of staff and management to keep the residents safe and cared for was nothing less than heroic.

Canterbury Village not only saved my mother, but me as well. After a terrible, dehumanizing experience at an unsafe, unsound non-profit facility in Somerset, my mothers life turned around at Canterbury. The Canterbury staff is kind and compassionate, the directors and nurses are attentive to the residents needs and medications (with wise suggestions too) and I have watched my mother thrive there. Its a clean, cozy, and cheery place - not institutional or bleak. Residents with dementia are given freedom and respect; there is never a sense of this being a locked facility, but a sprawling apartment complex or shared home with gardens and good meals (and a therapy dog too!) Staff turnover seems very low, so the residents and families really bond with everyone there. I just cant overemphasize how wonderful Canterbury has been for my mom - it is a wonderful place. I am so grateful to everyone there

How delightfully surprised I was to be greeted by my father with ashes on his forehead reminding me( who had forgotten) it was Ash Wednesday. Just one of the the many examples I've wholeheartedly witnessed of how the Canterbury staff personalizes and Embraces each and every individual resident. Always taking and making that extra effort! If it's acknowledging each vets service as my father being a Marine / or Yankee fan / a tiara for the birthday Queen for the day / even taking the time to find that special game or subject of interest / favorite book / large word search. Uniting all embraced and everyone always working as a team! Not to mention the relentless dedication and patience of the nursing staff. Clean, bright, but small enough to feel cozy & all can be found on one floor. With the charm of a Center Hall Colonial with its original woodwork and built-in cabinets. The superb food and abundance of hospitality is remarkably refreshing. Beautifully manicured Gardens with fountains and always inviting ... ... my family and I are well assured we made the right decision of making our father John part of the Canterbury Tales.

I am so happy with how my mother is treated here.the staff takes care of the residents like family. It is one of the few places that i have not seen the staff talking on their cell phones. My Mom likes the food as well. The gentleman in charge is so very knowledgeable and he keeps on top of what is going on. The nurses make sure the patients are getting the meds they are supposed to. .The only thing that my Mom would love to see more of is bingo and games of that nature. Once the weather changes the residents will be back to the road trips.I wish to thank each and every one of you for taking that horrible fear away. 99.9 percent approval.

I visited this facility as a possibility for my my grandmother. This is such a lovely, warm, clean, well cared for facility. I highly recommend you checking it out if you are in need of an Assisted Living. Art Dunsmore was fabulous and you couldn't ask for more. Priced extremely competitive with a lot of activities. The facility has two lovely outdoor areas one with a fountain. The rooms are like hotel rooms and very up to date. The grand room with a piano and fire place was my favorite. The staff were friendly and the residence seemed well cared for and happy.
