Since the time our Mom was admitted here, the staff and Administrators have been so supportive, welcoming and caring! We are deeply grateful for the compassion and care given to our Mom! The team here have made her stay very comfortable and treat her with care and dignity! All the staff and Admin are very caring and provide great service. Just brought my mother there as they have Chinese speaking staffs. Michelle Liu (Chinese program assistant director), as one of them, her professionalism, caring and patience is the reason I decided to move mom there . I hope there would be more staffs like her who truly cares about the elderly that need help. My mother has been at this facility for nearly one month now . I wrote a review during the first week, and this is an updated reflection based on our family’s experience over the past month. Please note this is our personal perspective and for reference only. Pros Large, clean, and pleasant facility. Excellent physical therapy space”much larger than the facility she transferred from. The Chinese therapist Haiyan is exceptionally kind and attentive. Although I have not dealt directly with this facility’s internal management, the regional director Mr. Kim has been exceptional ” consistently responsive, genuinely attentive to concerns, and sincerely committed to improving the quality of care. His professionalism and willingness to listen have brought our family a great sense of reassurance during this difficult time. Chinese meals available for residents who prefer them. Outstanding support from the Chinese-speaking staff, who consistently go above and beyond. Special appreciation to: Michelle Liu Christine Hui Mr. Zheng Their kindness, patience, and willingness to help truly make a meaningful difference for residents and families. Cons Food quality can be inconsistent; sometimes overly salty and occasionally limited to items like sliced ham, which is not ideal for elderly residents with hypertension. Although showers are scheduled twice a week, my mother received only one shower in 3“4 weeks, and that occurred only after my request. Laundry was never picked up as scheduled; it was completed only once, and that was after my strong request, which was extremely disappointing. The call-for-assistance button repeatedly goes through a broken“repaired“broken again cycle and still has not been fully resolved. Some new medications were prescribed based on symptoms without sufficient consideration of the side effects, which caused significant discomfort and seriously affected my mother’s daily functioning. When our family tried to discuss alternatives or discontinuation due to these severe side effects, the response was not as receptive as we had hoped, and it sometimes felt as though following standard medical protocol took precedence over addressing her individual comfort and needs. Aside from the Chinese-speaking staff mentioned above, responses to inquiries are sometimes delayed, and at times we felt our concerns were dismissed. ””””””””””””””””””””””””” Update: After I recently emailed upper management regarding my mother’s long-standing shower and call-button issues, Mr. Kim responded with remarkable promptness ” both issues were fully resolved within less than three hours. The following day, he and the facility Administrator, Mr. Chheda, personally followed up to ensure everything had been addressed. The shower and button concerns have now been completely fixed, and Mr. Kim and Mr. Chheda also assured me that the remaining issues we raised are already being actively worked on. Their responsiveness, dedication, and determination to improve the facility are genuine and demonstrated through action, not just words. Because of this level of care ” especially for residents from Asian families who may benefit from language and cultural support ” I sincerely recommend this facility. ”””””””””””””””- I hate to come back change the star to 2 , I also don’t feel comfortable to constantly have to come back to review this facility’s up and downs, but this time, the central AC issue is too big to be ignored: with NJ temperatures been above 100 degrees for couple of days, the claimed half million purchased new central AC system seems still not working properly since middle of May,regardless the reason, this is unacceptable.

I was in Merrick for three months. The staff was really friendly. It’s what you make of it. Positivity in yourself brings you a long way and just knowing that you’re gonna be OK. With physical therapy, you have to keep attending every day regardless of how bad it seems. Believe in yourself and you’ll be thankful that you went to Merwick. Short staffing which is a problem everywhere, but the poor attitude and care the nursing staff and Nursing assistants was unacceptable. Rude and unprofessional should not be the standard of care provided to patient's who are there to get better. I couldn't believe the conditions of the rooms and the beds the patient's had to sleep on. I would have expected better conditions located on the beautiful grounds of Upenn facilities. I had to drive 45 mins from work everyday to bring my mother food. I couldn't believe what was being served. I included the meal I was there to actually see being delivered to the patients.

My brother has only been there a week and the experience has been much more than we expected. The admissions and administrative personnel has been extremely helpful and compassionate. The nursing team and PT team are friendly and knowledgeable. The best choice I could of made. My brother has just been discharged and I wished to add to my review. In the 4 weeks he was he as thrived due to the excellent care he received there. From the desk entrance to the aides, nurses, PT and doctors along with the administration was a welcoming, friendly, compassionate atmosphere. They always asked what we needed. My brother said the the food was good and he was treated with respect and kindness. The adminstrater was always seen on the floor and was very kind and compassionate. ** one last note - my brother and my family agree this place is sooo clean. Without a doubt a great choice for your loved one.

My husband was at this Rehab facility from March 1st to April 10, 2026, and he loved this center! He was sad leaving it! Very good facilities, excellent Indian food and caring staff, you have it all here! My entire family was thrilled that we got just this excellent & caring center! The food was given in time, the physio therapy was provided everyday at the state of the art physio-therapy center and the resident doctor visited him everyday. All the nurses and housekeepers peeped in every now & then and asked him if he is ok, or if he needed anything. He was given intravenous anti-biotics and this was done 4 times a day, very early in the morning and late at night. Not a single dose was missed and was given exactly at the prescribed time. I will recommend this center to all my friends and specially for those who are in need of special vegetarian food, that will be provided with the Indian program and other Asian programs that are catered as per the need of the patients. Thank you Merwick for taking care of my husband and keeping him happy & healthy!

I was at Merwick Post Acute for three weeks following surgery. The PT and OT staff were all exceptional, especially my PT Haiyan. She is a very supportive and kind therapist with a positive and upbeat personality. I also had a positive experience with the rehab doctor, Dr. Miller. The nurses who cared for me were also exceptional, especially Helen Latka. She is a very caring professional who was responsive to my needs, and she has a great bedside manner. I also had a good experience with another nurse, Bhavisha Patel. The aides were responsive and pleasant, however they have to care for a large number of patients so are over stretched. My primary disappointment was the food. There were very few fresh items, like a piece of fruit, and the food was almost always cold. The kitchen did respond to my preferences, such as tea instead of coffee, although inconsistently.

On March 26th, we visited this elderly rehabilitation center. The warm and comfortable environment and harmonious atmosphere were incredibly comforting! Every senior citizen received meticulous care and attentive attention. Seeing the kind and caring Manager Liu greet the elderly with thoughtful greetings and patiently listen to them, I felt the overflowing love, respect, and warmth in her heart, which filled me with admiration! Merwick post acute care facility is outstanding. My Dad had a cardiac emergency and was admitted to Merwick post hospitalization. The staff treated my Dad with compassion, respect, and dedication. He was well cared for at all times. Nurses and physical therapy team deserve a special mention as they did a fantastic job helping him regain strength and making him independent again. The positive attitude and persistence of the entire staff truly made a difference in his recovery. My Dad being an Indian was grateful to have Indian nurses and physical therapists at times for easy communication. A special thanks to Mr. Alok Patel who provided Indian lunches very promptly to all patients of Indian origin. Indian television channels were available for patient entertainment as well. Director Mr. Vishal and Assistant Director were very helpful and showed a great understanding for my Dad’s needs at Merwick. With immense gratitude I highly recommend this facility to anyone in need for their loved one.

When I first visited my husband after his surgery, Michelle Lui was such a calming influence for us. She spoke to him in Mandarin and to me in English. Michelle helped us so much. My husband was at Merwick from 11/11/25 to 12/16/25. Everyone was so supportive and kind: the people who cleaned, the nurses, the physical and occupational therapists, and Christina at the front desk. My husband's room was spacious with windows facing the Millstone River, treetops. There was a large bath/shower room. The architecture of Merwick is designed for healing.
