I could not be happier or more at ease that my father is a resident at Sunrise of Old Tappan. The staff is TOP NOTCH. The level of care and communication is over the top. The social activities are 2nd to none. My father is so happy, and nothing is more important. I highly recommend this facility!!!!

What makes this facility so outstanding is the staffing. In particular, Melissa and Donna, who coordinate and run the residents’ activities, are wonderful warm caring individuals. My Mother is endlessly entertained by their creative and inventive activities, but beyond that, their kindness and patience has made my Mom’s life that much happier.

Sunrise of Old Tappan is absolutely amazing. As a licensed nursing home administrator and licensed social worker, I have worked with many assisted living facilities over the years. My client, Anita went to Sunrise needing the structured environment of an assisted living and assistance to help to care for her needs. The staff at Sunrise went above and beyond to make sure that Anita received exceptional care. They were sensitive to her needs, and encouraged her to be as independent as possible. As Anita’s care manager, they were communicative to me and I truly felt part of the team. A year later, with the support and care that was provided to Anita, she was able to go to transfer to an independent care facility. We know that without the amazing care that Anita received, this improvement would not have happened. A special shout out to Megan in admissions, who made the move in process seamless and went above and beyond throughout Anita’s stay. I recommend Sunrise of Old Tappan to anyone in search of an assisted living facility for their loved ones.

The entire staff at Old Tappan is incredible. They are professional and efficient, yet kind and compassionate. My aunt‘s move-in and transition went smoothly, and she indicated that the staff is very attentive and responds quickly to any question or issue she might have. Based upon this first month — which is often the toughest time — the family is sure she will enjoy many years there. Thank you to her care team and the management team! We are happy to see that she is fully engaged and truly enjoying senior LIVING!

I can not thank the staff at sunrise enough for their support in transitioning my Father and his wife into long term care. My family has been faced with one of the most difficult times in our life as we struggle to deal with the rapid decline in the health of our parents. Megan, Jennifer, Annmarie and Zelma have gone above and beyond their call of duty to assist with the move including advocating for us with the case workers at the hospital that was so negligent with my fathers care. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I can rest easier knowing that my parents are in good loving competent hands.

I moved my mother into Sunrise of Old Tappan in November of 2018. I have to say that the support, guidance and care my mother has received has exceeded my expectations!! Their team communicates with my family regularly in regards to my moms day to day activities and needs. I couldnt be happier!! Thank you!

My mom stayed here for a month as respite care, we hoped she would stay as a permanent resident. The care staff was great. The physical facility is above average. Mom did not care for the food; bussing of plates and cleanup of tables after they were vacated was very slow which left a very poor impression. Response time for assistance requests were slow a little too often. We were less than impressed with the administrative aspects.

I had a great experience with Sunrise. I was dealing with my mother's declining condition and really being pretty bewildered about what my options were when it came to finding a long term place for her. I met with Vicky at Sunrise and it was really the first time anything about the process was explained to me clearly, including what services were provided, the cost, making finances work, and the procedure for making it all happen. I left that meeting feeling better than I had in a long time. Vicky was also great about following up and answering some pretty detailed questions that my family had. I really liked the facility as well, but, ultimately, my mother's condition changed and it became a bad idea to move her from where she is (which is thankfully a place I'm happy with now). But I was really impressed with Sunrise and Vicky and I appreciate the help (and sanity) they provided.

Wonderful staff, friendly and attentive. Very clean establishment, well run, employees new all residents names when passed in a hallway. Menu look good, more of a at home feel. Lots of Frank Sinatra playing! Rooms were nice size and had kitchenettes.

Sunrise has a nice homie feel unlike his previous location which seemed more like a hotel than a home. The food is ok but rather than spending a little time helping our family member review the menu or understand his choices they offer him what they think he will like. This can lead to dissatisfaction. They do serve beer and wine with dinner which is great for an occasional drink and family and friends can participate in meal for a minimal charge. The staff are very welcoming of our frequent drop ins at any time and we always find it clean, warm and friendly. We would however, like more attention to detail when cleaning his private bathroom in his suite. They rely on him requesting it and with his deteriorating vision he is not seeing a need. I think my single biggest complaint is the push to use OMNI care for all prescriptions. Our family member gets his medication through the VA so has no prescription insurance. They have very specific requirements about how his medication is packaged preferring the OMNI care way. It would literally cost us more than $1,500.00 per month more using OMNI care. Perhaps with Prescription insurance this is not an issue but be sure to clear that up before moving in. Rates are quoted daily as is the level of care costs which can sky rocket without you realizing it. If cost is no object I think you and your family member will be very satisfied. Staff are very friendly and try hard to accommodate all the personalities.
