My mother has recently begun living at Harrogate. She and I have had many conversations about the kindness and care everyone working there displays towards the residents of the community. Jodie was more than helpful in finding an apartment that suited my mom's needs. She went above and beyond taking every call from us to answer all questions and help us plan for my mom's move. Emily was a fabulous help in orchestrating her move and setting her up with all amenities necessary for making a big transition much simpler than we thought it would be. She introduced my mom to many other residents who quickly became people my mother considers friends. Dana & Stephanie have been instrumental in helping my mom acclimate to her new home and get established with the medical clinic at Harrogate. My mom is overjoyed with the kindness, compassion and support she receives from all the staff of Harrogate. The staff she encounters daily including but not limited to dining, maintenance, housekeeping & activities have made Harrogate a comfortable, welcoming place that my mom already considers home.

The level of care at Harrogate is top notch in all areas. We, the family, and my mom, know this from our experience with other care facilities. We genuinely believe that staff who work in long term care facilities wherever they are HAVE to care because of the stressful environment and job demands. This caring and commitment to patients and families was evident in both places. However, at Harrogate, the staff/client ratio and daily interactions with the same people and the smooth way they run day to day, and weekend care, created a team work environment between admin, nursing, physical therapy, personal care aides, food choices, the salon opportunities, and social activities. Everyone knew and did their job, and communication between all was amazing. They also let us know that it was possible to think about transitioning mom back home, with a wheel chair and live-in help. We didn't think she was ready after her January hip replacement procedure, but with the effective and frequent physical therapy, our mom was able to learn how to get out of bed and stand after 9 months. She also was walking with a walker about 10 steps, very weak and shaky confidence, but she did it and they kept encouraging her. Since bringing her home, she is now walking more and more everyday and is sooo happy to rejoin her "home"life. We know things are one day at a time, but if we ever need LTC, we will pray there is an opening at Harrogate. It is "home away from home" when necessary. A true family of caregivers with patients joining in during their stays. Thank you, Harrogate, for being such a wonderful PEOPLE!

Truly cannot say enough good things about the staff at Harrogate. Each and every person we met treated us with the utmost respect and compassion. My mother arrived at Harrogate in a weakened condition after an extended hospital stay. Little by slowly, she got stronger. With the help of physical & occupational therapists, she learned how to use her walker more effectively. She loved choosing her meals from a menu each day and was consistently spotted playing Bingo & Pokeno. She enjoyed the staff so much that she even joined the optional group exercise classes and often said that everyone at Harrogate was so kind. I cannot say enough good things about the care she received. Each person that we interacted with from admissions, social work, nursing, aides & activities treated my mother (and us) with unending professionalism and compassion. I would go out of my way to recommend Harrogate to family and friends.

When I first arrived at Harrogate, I was in pretty sad shape. I had just had a fall in front of my house while gathering my mail from the box @ the curb. BAM! I went down on the sidewalk, smashing my elbow and fracturing my pelvis! After a 3 hour surgery in the hospital, I was transferred to a rehab facility to recover. My friends advised me that the rehabilitation center with the Best reputation in Ocean County was Harrogate! I had never heard about it before but trusted my friends, one of which was a nurse with lots of experience. The staff at Harrogate made my stay as easy as it could be. The physical therapists were patient when I couldn't even lift my right foot, and occupational therapists helped me use my right hand and arm again. It was a slow and grueling process. Many nights I felt hopeless. But there was always someone who knew how to cheer me up. There were activities and staff to keep me going and always plenty of hot meals served. P.T. had many tricks and games to keep us all involved in the endless process of training our bodies to work again. Week by week I found myself getting stronger and able to do things that I swore I'd never do again. I can walk with assistance and do quite a bit with my right hand and arm. Now, just nine weeks later, I am going home to my house to use all the skills I have learned from from the wonderful people who are Harrogate. MANY THANKS to the therapists, nurses & the personal aides, kitchen staff, those who kept it all sparkling, the amazing entertainment crew, the hardworking laundry ladies, and the excellent administration.

The staff at Harrogate is the best I have ever experienced anywhere! My mom was in hospice and the kindness, compassion, and love we received is top notch. The administrators, nurses, aides, housekeeping, all the way to the dining staff. They made my mom and our family feel love and comfort in the final stage of my moms life. I can't thank them enough!

My mother-in-law passed away 3 months ago. She became a resident of Harrogate for 5 years, after waiting for her 1st pick of the 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom floor plan, the Normandy. She explored many other assisted living communities in the Toms River/Lakewood area, before selecting Harrogate. A quiet corner unit with the enclosed porch facing the woods. It was peaceful with pastoral relief seeing the deer from the porch every morning and evening. The apartment is in pristine condition. Jim and I have been at Harrogate almost three months and it is everything we thought it would be and more. What makes Harrogate so special is the people who work here. They are all so willing to help you settle in and be happy to be here. From the packers, movers, hanging up our wall art/ pictures, hooking up our tv, putting up curtain rods/blinds, our dinners in the dining room there wasn't one person who didn't seem to like their job. They seem to be as happy to work here as we are to live here. But it all started with the Marketing Team, Jodi found the perfect apartment for us…. I call it compact and cozy with a nice view and enough room for everything we need but her job didn't stop when we signed the contract. She is always there for us. Also want to say how thankful we are for Emily and Caroline they are always willing to help like when we had additional shelves put in our pantry they emptied the contents and then helped to put everything back especially the top shelves that I couldn't reach. We felt at home from our first night and love living here.

Having had experience with another independent living facility, Harrogate is so far above . The staff there is present and very helpful. It is noticeable that they really care for their residents. My mother, who is in her 90s, had a serious fall that required hip surgery. After the hip surgery she was discharged to a rehab facility in Shrewsbury NJ. During her stay at the facility in Shrewsbury she developed wounds in her lower back, and both heals. The wounds eventually required specialized care and evaluation by a vascular surgeon. Her primary doctor's feedback was that the rehab center was beyond neglectful. It is painful to place your trust in a healthcare organization and then learn that your trust has been violated. Because of this violation of trust, we began an immediate search for a new facility that would take over my mother's care and help her hopefully recovery. During our search we looked at six facilities and the consistent feedback from people we spoke with, including healthcare professionals and residents of Harrogate was "get your mom to Harrogate." When we first called Harrogate, we were impressed by their genuine emotion related to our mom's situation. Although they didn't have a room for her immediately, they continued to see what they could do and three weeks later were able to admit her to their skilled nursing and rehab facility known as the Harrogate Health Center. Upon my mom's admission they immediately assigned a multidisciplinary team that including a wound care specialist, rehabilitation team and social worker for emotional support. Everyone went above and beyond the expectations of my entire family. The entire staff, from clinicians to maintenance personnel showed a level of caring that was nothing less than remarkable. They didn't just treat my mom as a patient by as a member of their family. My mom was discharged from Harrogate to our family home. Her wounds are close to being completely healed, which we didn't think was possible given the damage she incurred. She is able to walk with some assistance and most importantly she felt safe and cared for while at Harrogate. I cannot stress this enough. If you are at that inevitable crossroads that we all must face where we need to figure out what is next for our loved ones or ourselves. That juncture where we must admit that our parents need greater care than we can provide. Where you are not sure who to trust or where to turn. I implore you to do your research, ask the tough questions, hold people accountable, but if it were me, I would put Harrogate at the top of your list. If we could find a way to get her an apartment at Harrogate, we would move her in without question…what is more important is she wants to move in, which is not something I ever believed she would embrace and speaks volumes about the level of care and professionalism. Harrogate is not just a retirement home, it is truly a community, and we are thankful to the entire staff for the care, support and love they should my mom - which as you can imagine means the world to me and my family. My Mom and Dad recently bought in to this awesome community! Emily Sweeney, from the Marketing office was a god send and very responsive in helping us navigate the maze of buying the apartment, getting the apartment refinished (to mom's high standards) and even getting the move set up and in motion. Everyone in the community was and is very welcoming! Everything one needs is right on campus! Doctors and physical therapy right on site, nursing facility (should it be needed,) a beauty salon for haircuts and styling, a small fitness center, and even a gorgeous indoor pool that is open 24/7/365! The fact that my parents no longer need to cook (the food is really very good and prepared to order) and clean the apartment, takes a load off my plate! The staff is exceptional and very proficient in all that they do to take care of the grounds and buildings. My only wish is that I were old enough to move in as well!

We toured and researched many independent living facilities in the area and decided this was the place for dad. The decision was directly related to the honest information given to us from Jodie Medhaug. The amount of time Jodie spent giving us tours, answering our questions and including us in activities at Harrogate showed us her passion and belief in Harrogate. She showed us the camaraderie there is between the residents and the staff. Every staff member was friendly and helpful but, in the end, it was Jodie's honesty, knowledge and kindness that had us excited for dad to move in. She is a great asset to Harrogate. The sales counselor and and move in coordinater made the move so easy. If you are considering a retirement community Harrogate should be at the top of your list!

I've been in contact with Melissa Serra for many weeks as we waited for a private room to become available. Melissa is kind, caring and very professional. She provided me with routine updates. Emily Sweeney who was our main point of contact was amazing. She walked us through every step with such patience and really cares for all the people she comes in contact with. My mother is a resident at Harrogate and enjoys the facilities. When she was looking for an independent retirement community she was told to expect an yearly cost of living increase of 3%. She has been there for just under a year and at the start of 2023 she will see an third increase in cost of living that will bring her total percentage to a 24% increase in her first year. That is three times the percentage of inflation in the United States. How can people on a fixed budget be able to afford such a ridiculous increase?

My aunt spent 10 days in rehab at Harrogate. “Phenomenal” is all she could say about everyone there who helped her recovery. Before choosing rehab for my aunt, Melissa walked my cousin and me through all Harrogate offered. We didn’t want my aunt in a place where her recovery was not priority. Then she arrived. The staff! What a TEAM, from Administrators, Nurses ,Therapist, Housekeeper’s, Cooks, Hairdresser, & Aids were all were personable & Rock Stars. The food was exceptional…..so good and so much.

We moved our aunt into Harrogate last fall and it has been a transition and with that comes a lot of emotion. The staff is always very considerate, kind, helpful, caring and patient. Our aunt is very easily overwhelmed and the staff takes their time with her which we very much appreciate. She started of living by herself in the Independent Living section and then ended up in the hospital which resulted in her switching over the Health Center/Rehab at Harrogate. After she was strong enough to be discharged from the rehab, she was fortunate to be able to switch rooms so that she could have a live-in caretaker. The staff has once again showed us their quick response time and welcomed her. They even went to visit her while in rehab which is something you wouldn't be able to say for all retirement communities. We are able to relax knowing that she is in great caring hands while at Harrogate. Thank you so much for all that you do! Everything is always clean, the daily menu items from the dining hall are always changing which is great and she loves to look forward to that. However, she is comfortable knowing that there is an everyday menu that she can rely on if she's not interested in any of the specials due to her own taste. The decor is gorgeous and they take a lot of pride in their landscaping which is appreciated since it's tranquil when we bring her outside to enjoy the weather.

Harrogate is wonderful. Both my parents reside there. One is in independent living and the other is in skilled nursing. Luckily they are able to remain together in one location. Furthermore, my husband recently stayed there for sub-acute rehab. They made the transition from the hospital to their location seamless. Just as a quick note I don't know what it would have been like if I didn't have Melissa in admissions assisting me. He just raved about everything the staff, food and care. The apartments and facility are just beautiful. The best around. Highly recommend.

A year ago I was bringing my dog Daisy weekly for visits in the longterm section of Harrogate. Daisy is a therapy dog and would get very excited when I would ask her if she would like to visit the beds and go to work! Harrogate is by far the nicest senior facility I have ever experienced. It is beautiful and warm and decorated like you are walking into someones home. The staff are always friendly and make us feel very welcome. We miss them terribly and hope soon enough we will be able to visit again!

Ten years ago, my husband and I moved in to Harrogate. It was the best decision we made since we said, I do. I told my husband right after we moved in and got things settled, Living here is like being on a cruise without the water. We have a lovely apartment facing a beautiful wooded area, and a garden right outside our door, and the apartment is cleaned for us every week. The staff here couldnt be more helpful, whether you need a light bulb replaced, a sink plunged or a microwave repaired, etc.. We have a chef who makes sure that we have good and tasty meals, especially on Holidays, and we always have plenty of choices and plenty of food. Our activities department is extremely busy providing parties, dances, trips, movies, and entertainment. What more could you ask for? I wish that more people knew what they were missing by not living here.

I have been a resident here for almost 8 years now, moved in after sandy. When I was deciding where to move I visited a friend who invited me in for lunch. After that I knew this was where I wanted to be. COVID has been hard on everyone and there are people here I knew were getting lonely so occasionally bring some fresh baked goodies to my neighbors and we have a little tea time. Harrogate has been great with COVID, we dont like COVID but at Harrogate its safe. The activities here are always wonderful; the dances, bingo, and when bands come are always a treat. I love the staff, the staff here all know our names, it feels as though they were picked to please me. I am just so grateful I found Harrogate. It has just made my life so pleasant, especially with all the friends I have met here.

11 years ago my Husband was not well and he decided it was time for us to move from our Lavallette home. He wanted to make sure that I was not alone and I would be comfortable when he passed. We had some friends at Harrogate already and we saw Harrogate as the place to meet our needs. Since then I have made numerous friends here. The activities here are wonderful. There is always something to do. The holiday programs, concerts, gym, pool exercises, and trips are wonderful, they really do a great job. Harrogate acted quick when Covid hit and has done a great job keeping us safe.

When I felt it was the time for me to make a move, I drew a circle on a map for the radius I wanted to live in and researched all of the CCRCs in the area. I contacted Harrogate and came for a luncheon. I loved it but wanted to keep looking. So I would go to a seminar here or a event there but every time I would look back at Harrogate as the superior place. I knew this was where I wanted to be. The quality the promise and meet is wonderful. Their is a feeling of dedication to their policies here.

I am a resident here now for 4 years. I love the extended dining, we have an out door al fresco dining option that i absolutly love. When I go out there I feel as though I am in a secret garden. Harrogate has been very pofessional and efficient with their handeling of covid. I am happy we are always kept in the loop on change of policy and procedures. It seems we have been doing better than others in the area case wise. The staff has been traveling around with snacks and treats for us and its been a mood lifter.

every day I get to talk to people and have lots of laugh. I love the idea of opening my door to go outside in the nice weather and have access to bocci, shuffleboard, horseshoes, corn hole. In the nice weather we get to dine outside on the weekends. . The staff knows every ones names and are always available to talk. The fitness staff are incredible always coming up with something new to get people motivated to exercise. Just started playing water volleyball, its the best hour of the day. My days are really full!!

I am going on 5 years here at Harrogate. I came to Harrogate 18 years ago to visit a friend and fell in love. One of my friends that lives here spoke to me about moving in 5 years ago, I wasnt sure if it was possible but Harrogate made it feasible. I have not regretted that decision once. I love the staff. They are absolutely out of this world. They do everything for you before you ask or even know you wanted it. The atmosphere is so friendly. You come here and make new friends. It is such a safe environment. I am part of multiple clubs and committees here at Harrogate and love how I get to play a role in how Harrogate runs. I am always busy here. Harrogate has done a wonderful job dealing with Covid. We dont have the cases like everywhere else. Harrogate has kept us safe. I love it here.

I have been a resident for a little over 6 years. I love being able to interact with all of the residents. There is so much about Harrogate to love. The staff are great, the activities are fun and the food is good. Harrogate has been handling Covid very well. I dont love being in locked down but its for my safety and I appreciate that they are doing this for me. My family also appreciates everything they do for my health. My favorite thing is how if i need anything its always yes we can do that, I have never felt so pampered in my live.
