Keep in mind that my rating is just based on a tour. It is clear to me that Heritage Woods provides an excellent environment for their residents with many, many amenities and services, and that the safety of residents is paramount. The facility was beautiful and clean, and everyone was friendly. It was clear that they have a VERY active community of residents, many, many of whom were out and about socializing and doing other activities while I was there. I think for my family-member, it might feel a little bit too nice and a bit formal for her preferences. They do contract with an agency to provide in-house therapy, which is very helpful. I cannot speak to quality of food or care, but everyone seemed happy and things seemed well-run.

We are so grateful to have found Heritage Woods for our mother. When we sold her home and helped her move in, I could not have believed that everything she brought would fit into her apartment as well as it did. The rooms are spacious with plenty of storage. The food is delicious as well, and the options for activities are diverse. But the best feature of HW is the staff. Every single staff person we have interacted with - at the desk, the kitchen, the housekeeping, and maintenance - has been genuinely kind and cheerful. We appreciate the leadership for the comfortable home and service that they provide for our mom. Mom is truly happy to call it home.

I moved in my first day here was October October 3, 2024 the lady at my church who introduced me to this place had been telling me for years before I came here that Michael what you should do is moved to HERITAGE WOODS. Ann was my first administrative assistant at the medical school when I came there on January 1, 1972 I’ve known her a long time. I should’ve been listening to her. I cannot imagine any thing I should’ve done sooner in my life other than come here. I have great respect for the staff. I have great respect for the care they provide. The way the place is run the quality of the people, in the kitchen and in the office. I cannot say anything bad about Heritage Woods.

After touring a number of other Senior Independent Living locations we decided to move my 90+ very independent mother into Heritage Woods this past August. The staff is warm and friendly and provides excellent care to the residents. Three meals a day are provided, and I am impressed by the menu selection and food. Not having to make a large deposit, as many living communities require, allows her to live comfortably and with-in her means. She was initially hesitant to leave her home, but has since made new friends and keeps busy with all the activities offered. There is a "new resident" table in the dining room that opened the opportunity for her to meet new people. We are happy that she is in a safe and caring community.

This is a wonderful community. The Director really cares about the residents. Their health and well-being is number one priority. New Chef, new Activity Director, and recently stylishly updated make this a very attractive home. It’s a beautiful facility and the residents are happy. I recently attended a Mardi Gras celebration and parade event there and the Mayor of Winston Salem attended!I saw the smiles and the fun the residents were having and talked to many of them. You can trust your decision is a good one recommending this community for your parent or loved one because you want them to be safe, cared, for and happy and I have seen it first hand.

I cannot tell you how pleased I am with Heritage Woods. We first moved MIL. She was in independent. She was thrilled with the people engagement. Having dementia but still living on her own. Eventually she moved to assisted living and the care there is excellent compared to any other. No place meets their quality. My FIL needed a place 3 years later, he had been divorced from MIL for 50 years. He and his family searched all local locations. He moved into Heritages Woods and loves it. Food is great, staff is out of this world! He says he wishes he could have stayed in his house, but there is nothing better. Of all the places we visited, it was number one! He cannot be happier with staff, activities and food.

My mom has enjoyed living at Heritage Woods for 4 years. Mary Stone and the other members of the team have been supportive, communicative, and responsive. They have been able to give me supplemental resource recommendations that have provided reliable additional support, which has been a great help. The team cares about the residents and treats them with respect. The facility’s well maintained and there are a number of activities available that my mom has taken advantage of and enjoyed - especially the live music. The other residents are welcoming and she’s made good friends here that have provided her with a sense of community. She has also really enjoyed the seasonal decorations and events throughout the year that she has been able to share with her grandchildren and great grandkids. I am very happy that my mom has a place like Heritage to live and enjoy.

Heritage Woods is a wonderful place. We get 3 meals a day and you just go to the dining room and sit down just like a restaurant, and look at the menu and tell the waitress what you want. The food is very good with wonderful deserts and if you want more of something, you just ask. The people that live here are all very friendly and there are so many things the staff does for entertainment, they have bands that plays music, and we have bingo 2 times a week, so many other things they do for entertainment. They have someone to clean your room once a week, and so many other things that makes you feel like it is home.

Heritage Woods is more than a home, it's a family. My father has lived at HW for seven months and was welcomed and cared for instantly. When my brother and I first toured HW we met with Sheila. She was kind and professional and took her time answering all the questions we had. She was also very patient as we inundated her with emails prior to his move-in and has since gone out of her way to help us. She 's been amazing. Mary Stone has also been exceptional. She helped guide us through a medical situation with my father, offering advice and sometimes just listening to our concerns. She's an amazing advocate for HW residents and seniors All the staff has been above and beyond in making my dad feel at home. If you are looking for a senior living residence for yourself or your aging parent, Heritage is an excellent choice.

The experience our family has had with Heritage Woods has been excellent and our parents are the second generation in our family to reside at Heritage Woods. The staff is always welcoming, professional, caring, knowledgeable, and consistent. When our parents first moved into Heritage Woods, they were immediately welcomed to the community by both residents and staff. Our father even joined several committees and loves the responsibility of helping others in the resident community and even tries to help the staff whenever they need it. He enjoys the responsibility and Heritage Woods has been a great place that meets all of his living and social needs. Also, we cannot overstate our appreciation of Mary and her staff as they helped us navigate through transitioning our mother to the assisted living floor at Heritage Woods. With her experience in the industry, she was able to provide us with valuable and accurate resources to ensure our family was able to fully advocate for our mother’s needs during that time. Heritage Woods Sr. Living Community in Winston-Salem, NC is where my mother lived for a little over five years. It was the first and last Sr. Living Community I looked at. The location was perfect. It was situated off of the main road and the lawn was well manicured. The rocking chairs and fans at the entrance of the building were so relaxing. My mother was treated with such respect and she received great care. I was never concerned about the level of care she received in both the independent and assistant living areas. There is so much to do and the dinning room and atrium areas are very beautifully decorated. Everyone is so patient and caring with the residents.

My experience with Heritage Woods was outstanding, even though my Dad only spent a short time as a resident prior to his passing. Mary Stone (Exec Director) is someone who has committed her life to helping Seniors and her counsel to me prior to my dad arriving, during his time there and then while he was in the end stages of life was invaluable. Mary knows so much about this service and was such a wise counselor to me as I was needing to make important decisions on behalf of my dad while I was living 6 hours away. I not only felt like I had a trusted advisor in Mary, I felt like I made a new and caring friend. While most of our correspondence was initially over the phone (with my living out of state), when I finally met her personally it was like being with an old and lifelong friend. The feeling of good community oozes throughout the residence, and my interactions with every single caregiver (both medical and support staff) was of the highest caliber. Everyone was warm, welcoming and very helpful. When my father passed, I sensed a really heartfelt caring by the team- even thought he had been there for a short time. I am very happy that he had that time at Heritage and wish he had been able to be there longer. Kudos to Mary and her team, they are truly wonderful and I recommend them highly. I trust that if you decide to partner with Heritage your experience will be as good as mine.

I moved my mother into Heritage Woods when she could no longer keep up a home. She was reluctant to move into a Senior Living Center, but the staff and other residents made her feel welcome and happy when we visited. Sheila Page showed us the options she had for an apartment and the view from each. My mother decided on the two bedroom apartment so she would feel a little like being at home. All of the staff was very cordial when we moved in and followed up to make sure we had everything my mother needed. Sheila especially made it a point to come and ensure my Mom was getting settled in. This is a really nice retirement home. They have several different sizes of apartments to choose from for independent living on two floors. They also have one floor of assisted living units. There is a dining room that serves three meals a day (the food is very good) and the apartments also have kitchenettes. There is a nice large lobby area with a fireplace and tv and the outdoor areas are very inviting. They have activities and outings scheduled throughout the week and transportation to doctors. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and really care about the residents. There is a beauty salon on site and on-site physical therapy.I think the price is about average for retirement homes and it is one of the nicer ones for the money.

We have had a very positive experience at Heritage Woods. My mother moved in several months ago. All of the staff have been very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff always greet us by name when we visit. Mom has received personal assistance from everyone there including the maintenance, recreation, and medical staff who always do more than just their job. Director Mary has been very accommodating and spent extra time with us when we needed to work through arrangements. The facility is bright, attractive and well cared for. There is a full schedule of activities and entertainment. The dining room has a nice varied menu. We regularly see Physical Therapist and other health care providers there helping those that need extra assistance.

This is just a wonderful place to be. My husband and I have been very satisfied with the services they provide here and they suit our needs very well. We always see the director walking around the building talking to residents and we love to see that. It shows us the management team is very involved with the people here. The food and service in the dining room is excellent, the variety on the menu is very well rounded, the activities are excellent, and the housekeeping and maintenance department keep up with the building and rooms. The care team is also on the ball ! we are so impressed with how knowledgeable and respectful they are. So far everything is up to par here and we are thrilled to have moved here!

My parents moved into Heritage Woods in October 2017. They loved it there. The staff was awesome as my fathers health declined and through his passing. My mom still lives there and loves it there. She has become an active resident in many activities. The staff there is very caring and supportive. There has not been turnover in front desk staff the entire time she’s been there. She knows them all by name and they all know her. It is so comforting knowing they care. If they don’t see her during her regular walking or exercise, they loo for her and check on her. Mary Stone, the director, has been a strong stable throughout the pandemic. She kept everyone safe. There were very few cases in the entire year. She was on top of getting all the residents vaccinated as soon as she could. This is not just a job. She really cares.

In 2017, my parents moved to an Independent Living apartment at Heritage Woods Senior Living (HWSL) and after my mom’s husband died, she has continued to happily live there. Although there have been several staff changes, the present Executive Director, Mary Stone, has definitely kept the facility in tip-top shape for the past two years. Her ability to keep everything running smoothly is amazing; not only do the residents love her, the families do as well. Before COVID-19 caused a change in procedures, the regular routine provided numerous daily activities including exercise class, Bingo, Arts & Crafts, movies, card games, outings to local restaurants, entertainment (singing, dancing, choruses, instrumental performances, and even Elvis!) as well as many special events and seasonal offerings. My Grandfather lived there about 20 years ago and now my Mother lives there. The staff has always had the needs and wants of residents catered to above and beyond. The facility, inside and out, has always been very inviting. The resident rooms are set up perfectly for their needs. The food, activities, family involved events, etc. have made it an easy transition from private home to retirement center living. Our family can’t say enough wonderful things about Heritage Woods. Mary Stone, Executive Director goes above and beyond to make this place a loving HOME for all residents. Our maintenance team is always on top of issues with the building. And our transportation to doctors visits and outing is the best! Going downhill fast. Chef quit, food quality declined. Activities director quit. Residents left to come up with their own games and activities. Cleaning staff with the exception of one or two barely clean the rooms. The wait staff is wonderful and hopefully that won't change.

I attended a social event at Heritage Woods a few weeks ago. Staff and residents were very welcoming, and seemed to be very happy. There was an amazing jazz band and lots of family members as well as staff filling the area. The appetizers were phenomenal. There was also the option to consume alcoholic beverages. It was the best event I have been to in a long time. The staff there definitely put in a lot of hard work and goodness did it pay off! It was absolutely impeccable.

To elaborate on other positive reviews, specifically relating to the Southern Style Party, I would have to give kudos to activity team as well. I would also like to elaborate on how well the entire management team works together at Heritage Woods, events like the Southern Style party would have not been successful without everyone being a part of its planning. Dining services for example is a huge component of those events and I think that they deserve a round of applause for this super fun, laid back family event that I wish could happen every week! The management team and staff all make a huge effort to ensure that Heritage Woods provides a warm and welcoming community for their residents!
