Cadence at Wake Forest – Reviews
August 2022
I thank God for the Cadence of WF. My mom is transitioning to a heavenly home. The most considerable relief to me is I feel God all around her. Alice is an Angel. She has made me feel comfortable with this process. Alice's first comment was asking me how I was doing. She truly cares for each resident. She exudes love and kindness. You can't put a price tag on this. She isn't the only one who cares about my mom and the entire staff and has been head shoulders above the first facility. Your love deserves the same passion and attention!

The decision of putting a loved one in assisted living isn't easy but the staff at Cadence at Wake Forest were so welcoming from day one that there was no doubt that Cadence was where I wanted my mom. My first visit was when I showed up unannounced because I was driving by facilities (scoping them out) and there was no problem. They welcomed me in (still during tight Covid restrictions so to a "safe" room) and there I met Elsja. She does their marketing but there was NEVER a feeling of her trying to sell me. She explained how they operated, that they had never had a Covid case so weren't "locked down" (YAY), walked me through the daily life and was so warm and honest I was truly impressed. Three months later she still takes a personal interest in my mother and doesn't treat her as a check mark on her numbers. She is still impressing me today. Having said that, now that restrictions are lifting and I'm able to actually visit my mom in her room, have dinner with her and even take her out for the day, I come in contact with other residents. They play pool, bingo, attend crafting classes and even have outings (my mom's favorite being Braza in Brier Creek). I'm excited about the cookout for family and friends on 1 May and will be there with bells on! Needless to say, pretty active for what you think would be a solemn place. Trust me, its not. An additional shout out to a couple people. Elsja is "the woman" as far as I'm concerned but: Thedora - The first day I drove up and she was parking the company van, she walked up to me, introduced herself as "my name is Thedora but you can call me Theo" and got me in to the facility. She continues to this day to welcome me by name, with a smile and a wave when I enter and she is just a delight. Diana and Rachel - They are nursing staff and are on the ball with medications and always with a smile on their face. Kind and efficient... What more could one ask for? Neisha - front desk "concierge" - not a better person could perform that job. She is upbeat, friendly and just as cute as can be. Always has a smile and an enthusiastic hello when I enter. Mark is the director (sorry Mark for mentioning the big guy last) and is as caring as they come. From day one he has greeted me with a smile, addressed me by name (always a big gold star in my book) and genuinely seems to care that my mom is healthy and adjusting well. AND SHE IS! Needless to say, this facility has impressed me. I visited several prior to my mom moving to Cadence but again, the first day I walked in I was hooked. My mom is thriving (and even has a kitty as a companion) and lets face its, that's all you can ask for in a family member you adore. That they be treated well not because its necessary, but because staff actually cares. Kudos for a job well done.

Hi Natalie and Dale, I Just read your comments and am so glad the community is working our for Rose. Such a very lovely lady. Unfortunately the BOD made working there miserable for me and I left there and eventually returned to Ohio.

So in January of 2021, my husband and I were facing the dreaded decision of having to put Miss Rose in an Assisted Living Facility. She had been living alone and independent for over 40 years (shes 89 now), and the time had come to make a change. We chose Cadence at Wake Forest for several reasons: Close proximity to our home, their reputation of being a COVID-Free facility, but mostly because of the staff. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly, catering to her every need with a smile. In particular, Elsja Van Wieren has been exceptionally helpful to our family. Yes, I have been described as High Maintenance in the past, so I warned her on the first meeting to get prepared for this over-protective daughter-in-law, LOL. She has answered every email promptly, taken care of any questions or concerns we might have, and most importantly...... taken care of Miss Rose. Although this world is different than it was a year ago with the pandemic, we had NO CONCERNS about taking our dear Mom to this facility. We have seen first hand how strict they are with their COVID protocols, they made the transition from independent living to assisted living seamless, and we feel completely comfortable that our loved one is in the best place possible! Miss Rose has started blossoming in this environment, making friends, having wonderful meals, and has started to refer to Cadence as home. That smile says it all.... We have our Rose back. Thank you to Elsja and your incredible staff! Natalie L Miller

My wife and I spent New Years Eve on the telephone trying to locate an acceptable Assisted Living facility for my mother. Ideally, we were looking for a good facility near our home but more importantly, one where my mother would be happy and well cared for by the staff. Together, we called 20 locations in the greater Raleigh area and only found two which were available and accepting new residents. All the others had active Covid cases, were not accepting new residents due to Covid, or were simply non-responsive. Cadence Wake Forest and Cadence North Raleigh both came highly recommended by the Executive Director of another facility. We picked the Wake Forest location as we were most impressed with the overall appearance, the Community Relations Director (Elsja) and the Executive Director (Mark). Thankfully, all the staff at this facility have turned out to be pleasant and helpful. Mom says: Everyone here is really nice. Despite very strict Covid protocols, the staff here have helped my mother adjust from living alone to enjoying a clean and comfortable community lifestyle. Mom couldnt be happier and neither could we. Five stars!

My father had been at The Carillon (now Cadence) for almost five years. He recently passed away but we couldnt of had him in a better place. He was extremely happy here and the staff always treated him with caring kindness. It is always a hard decision to put your loved one in a facility. There is reassurance for our family that his last years were very happy. Our father was a big eater and loved the food. It is now even better since Cadence took over. All in all a good experience and we would definitely recommend.

I am in the home care industry and work alongside the people at Cadence. They are extremely warm and welcoming and each year they participate in our Be a Santa to a senior program which reaches out to seniors in need at Christmas time. It is a beautiful facility but more importantly the people within are beautiful. It is a privilege to work with them

I visited Cadence in Wake Forest over the Christmas season. As a long term care specialist assisting clients cover the costs of long term facility expenses, I found Cadence to be warm, friendly and professional. Cadence is centrally located in Wake Forest with easy access for family members and friends to visit. Highly recommend.

Couldnt be happier with our decision to move my mother into Cadence at Wake. Its a beautiful community with a friendly staff that immediately made us feel right at home. We searched about 4-5 other communities and nowhere came close to Cadence. If youre looking for an assisted living in the Raleigh area, definitely come check them out. 5 stars isnt enough!
