My 98 year old mom was recently a patient in the Transitional Rehab part of Pennybyrn. I cannot say enough nice things about her care. Food was delicious! Facility is brand new and beautiful. Staff are caring and her rehab went great!

My husband and I have called Pennybyrn home for over three years. We live in a cottage neighborhood where we have come to know and love our neighbors. Housekeeping and lawn care are all included. Jere and I enjoy exercise classes, games, concerts and a wide variety of social events offered to residents. We have a lovely pool and well equipped exercise room. There is a putting green and garden spaces for those flowers or vegetables you love to pamper with your green thumb. There is bus transportation to a wide variety of community activities that takes away the concerns of parking, long walks to the venue from the parking lot, and how to find the venue in the first place. It is relaxing to be delivered to the event door and picked up at the door at the end of the event. Our dining experience is nothing short of wonderful. There are two seating choices; both have a friendly wait staff. There is a spacious fine dining room as well as a pub for a more relaxed atmosphere. Meals are cooked to order from a menu of tasty choices including fish, chicken, beef and vegetarian dishes. You must come and sample our beautiful, tasty desserts. All of this goes to say, "We love living at Pennybyrn."

Pennybyrn was home to my Grandfather for 8 years and has been my second home for 22 years. As an employee and family member, I have experience all facets of life here, and there is nothing negative or lacking about the care given to residents and our team. The culture and spirit here is amazing, the care is excellent, and the compassion is abundant. A spectacular facility and seems like a great place to live. The food is particularly good and has a great menu but process a lot of variety and quality dishes. The brunch is particularly good. Fun place to visit and being little kids who like to explore the grounds and play in the activity room. Dining room is kid friendly and gluten sensitive friendly. Go visit your grandparents here!

Very nice place. My mother in-law recently stayed there for 3 weeks for rehabilitation. She couldn't of gone to a better place. Great staff. Everyone is super friendly and helpful.

When I was scheduled for a knee replacement I did not have anyone at home to take care of me. I am so appreciative that my doctor suggested Pennybyrne! I knew very little about Rehabs, but unfortunately my experience with my Mother and some friends was not positive, which led me to be apprehensive. There are no words to describe how wonderful Pennybyrne was. I was basically helpless when I got there and was totally overwhelmed! From the moment of admission, I felt like everyone on the staff, including the administrators,took my hand and helped me in the journey to be able to go home. The PT staff is excellent! Safety is really emphasized and not being able to move around on my own for the first days, someone was always glad to answer my call and help me with a willing heart-never impatient or annoyed. Pennybyrne is a lovely place, but more importantly everyone was so kind and I felt like I was important-that they cared about me during such a difficult time! Everyone displayed a servant's heart to all patients and residents and I still think about how blessed I was to go there!

How grateful that my mother is at Pennybyrn at Maryfield. She faced a devastating medical occurrence and our family feels deeply blessed for her to be at such a caring place and beautiful facility. The nurses and assistants are very loving toward my mother. My sister and I sleep well at night knowing she is in good hands. The Nuns run a remarkably compassionate place and provide much spiritual support to my mother. As my mother requires around the clock care, there is no other place that my sister and I would want my her to be.

So refreshing to encounter a truly caring place! Everyone - from Peggy the Admission Director (who greeted us on that first day even though it was Memorial Day Monday )to the Sisters (Gabriella / Loretta / Julia / Lucia) are all wonderful. People truly find joy in providing excellent care. They get to know the residents (my father was in rehab). The professionalism is outstanding... Page the head nurse , all the nurses (Lai and Cindy and and and) and the food staff (they nicknamed him either Clint Eastwood when he would waer his sunglasses - or Big Jack - and they treat residents like people. The rehab folks Jenny and Rob. And April....But the medical concern and care is there as well. I medevaced my folks from Massachusetts to be here - and the Doctor (Dr Powell) and the swallowing specialist who drove in from Raleigh...all first class. He made more progress in one week than he did up north even though it was a highly rated facility. And the facility being on one level is a refreshing change from having to ride elevators and then not being able to easily go sit out in the courtyard with the fountains and flowers, or sit under the shade of the 150 year old Willow Oak... And the nuns stop by and visiting and encourage and counsel residents and family members. Daily mass is great.... This is a wonderful place. Thanks to all for your love and concern and attention.

Pennybyrn is a great place to live. We have been here a year now, and we are pleased with the caring staff, the facilities and the dining experience. We looked at many CCRC's and this is the best by far!!! It is a definite five star!!!
